Overall Satisfaction with CodeSignal
I used CodeSignal as part of an online assessment for several companies to which I was applying for an internship. It serves [the] purpose of standardizing the test scores across different people and questions, removing other factors such as personal skills and charisma from the equation of initial screening, so it's pretty useful.
Pros
- Coding Questions
- Proctored Tests
- Standardized Tests
Cons
- Proctoring can be a little random at times.
- CodeSignal can improve its test UI.
- The option of stopping screen sharing is at a very strange location and interferes with writing the code.
- Proctored tests
- Can send scores to multiple companies
- Standardized scores
- It's helped me understand my coding skills.
- It's helped push me to achieve better scores.
- I have been able to easily apply to a number of companies using a single CodeSignal score.
The test is standardized across companies, so it removes the variability of someone randomly choosing questions. The test score can be shared with multiple companies, whereas HackerRank requires that each company take a separate test, which takes up a lot of my time. The UX of CodeSignal seems better than that of HackerRank.
