Zscaler Internet Access is utilized by IT and security teams within the Mining, Quarrying, and Oil/Gas Extraction sector to secure internet access for geographically dispersed and often remote industrial networks. In TrustRadius reviews, its core security functions are implicitly valued for protecting critical operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT) environments, which is essential for maintaining production and safety in this industry.
However, reviewers noted specific areas for improvement concerning the administrative console experience. Two of five reviewers highlighted issues with the user interface and overall console responsiveness, which can hinder rapid policy adjustments and incident response times. For an industry where network stability directly impacts critical operations, streamlining security management tasks through an improved console would significantly benefit operational efficiency.
Pros
Robust core security for protecting remote industrial networks
Securing geographically dispersed IT and OT environments
Maintaining network stability critical for production and safety
Cons
Administrative console responsiveness and speed
User interface intuitiveness for security management
Potential for impeding rapid security policy adjustments
Impact on incident response efficiency in critical operations
Zscaler Internet Access is used as our main defense for external traffic to the internet for our endpoints and trying to implement it to everything in the future. It has solved the ease of implementing policies has been a plus and the ease of pretty much one click SSL inspection has been great.
Pros
UI is great
Granular URL policies has been a plus to give temporary access or access to certain users
The logs we get are very insightful
Cons
The console feels sluggish at the moment and can be improved
Likelihood to Recommend
Granular policies has been a great thing for us to provide access to only the users that need it. It pretty simple to create policies once you get he hang of it and get a template going.
We use Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA) for internet proxy and protection for all of our enterprise users. We use this to ensure users are not accessing sites they should not be and to allow secure access to some internal sites that are needed by other users. This covers approx 92k users for Koch
Pros
internet proxy and control
filtering to ensure the users have appropriate access
advanced security for user that are not on prem
Cons
consistent dashboard with other products
Likelihood to Recommend
Zscaler Internet Access(ZIA) is good at the user access control for internet access, we will be looking at how this can assist with server and device workflows. combining the dashboards will make it easier to deploy .
It has removed the burden of the internal infrastructure and improved latency. We have noticed that the user satisfaction and user experience has improved as well. What we have enjoyed most has been that we can remove the dependency of some segmentation efforts and reduce the endpoint burden of configuration sets.
Pros
Efficiency
Reliability
Simplifying.
Security
Cons
Localizing the network
More protocol support
Less impact to OT devices like PLCs
Likelihood to Recommend
This has been a real pleasure to see. You almost get what the old timers used to hate about firewalls: the elimination of visible security.
Deployed across 1500 users to provide user internet activity visibility and impose controls as needed to enforce published policies.
Pros
Aggregation of deployed base internet usage.
The ability to create and apply URL & cloud policies to those users.
Reportable metrics on internet access as a whole.
Cons
Sectional exports & reports. For example, provide the CIO with Zero Trust "holes" because of "sacred cow" users. It'd be nice to generate reporting or even CSV exports for that data for easier communication.
Tenant resolution - regardless of my physical or logical location, the ZIA tenant landing always takes longer to resolve than one would think.
Likelihood to Recommend
We're having a devil of a time with our DevOps group and SSL Inspection of their AWS data lake containers. There has to be an easier way to do that.
Zscaler Internet Access is used company wide and of course it is helping to securely access the data from internet without compromising the security.
Pros
Safe Internet access.
Cloud based hence can be scaled up when required.
Customization with respect to the company requirements and IT policies.
Cons
Costing of course is one of the areas.
Sometime blocking the genuine access also.
Solution for small company required.
Likelihood to Recommend
Zscaler Internet Access is suited very well where company is very big and distributed across the world and have lot of users in different part of the world accessing the net. It is less appropriate for a small company and cost wise unviable for them if users are less.

Zscaler Web Security is being used globally throughout the entire organisation and 50+ countries. Zscaler makes life easier and more productive for our employees. How? because via SSO an employee can easily access the internet from any device and do so with very little restrictions. Why? because Zscaler clearly demonstrates how their ability to scan websites in real-time detects malware and vulnerabilities that would otherwise gone unnoticed.
Pros
Zscaler is truly a cloud service, leveraging the capacity and throughput expected from the cloud along with the resilience
Zscaler takes away some of the risks imposed with older machines or poor patching by automatically restricting content to vulnerable agents
Zscaler works in the background and does not interfere with normal user operations. It does so consistently, wherever the individual works in the world
Cons
The pre-baked reports within Zscaler could do with a refresh, add some new reports in-tune with new threats. IE: show me any examples of crypto mining detected in the org
Zscaler could make it easier to clean out expired accounts or those of ex-employees to get a more accurate reading of activity
Failover monitoring for GRE tunnels could be improved although it does work
Likelihood to Recommend
The absolute benefit of Zscaler is that it was born in the cloud and thus has no hybrid hangovers such as working with legacy proxy servers. Thus it is a clean system to configure and deploy. It is a cloud service therefore you need to consider latency and internet traffic flows between your location and their pop. Zscaler have a large footprint to minimize that impact but it is worth examining with your ISP because the most obvious traffic route is not always the result you get. The net result is that your optimum connection is within a different country which helps performance but geo-location / google searches could confuse people
