I use WinZip to do the obvious to unzip files. Create and zip files. We also use this tool to zip and encrypt files, and compress large amounts of files because we can't email because we deal with large amounts of tax and real estate documents. I would love to see WinZip integrate easily into Microsoft Office. I know this is difficult as MS Office is always getting updated.
Pros
Zip large amounts of files.
Encrypting files
How easily it works with multiple platforms.
Cons
WinZip and MS Office integration
Would like to see integration into web browsers.
Can you intergrade virus protection?

I've tried several other zipping products and always come back to WinZip. 1. Ease of use 2. Multi software compatibility

I use WinZip To zip and unzip contents. The newer winzip version is difficult to use. New features are added but the product is no longer user friendly as it used to be (v24 and below)
Pros
zipping
unzipping
Cons
Make it user friendly
Do not often change user interface

Good product for the purpose of zipping and unzipping. Upload make easy as we upload one file instead of individually files
WinZip is used for transferring log files for server issues to the vendor and project files for research projects to collaborators. It is also great for backing up files and folders for individuals or projects to keep disk size to a reasonable size.
Pros
It takes extremely large files and makes them small enough to send via email.
The encryption allows the projects to send PHI data and stay in HIPPA compliance.
It is easy to use so no training is required for users.
Cons
When the dashboard comes up, it is not always intuitive as to the location of where files are going when unzipping; you have to click on the file to have the dialog come up.
Password-protection usage is complex.
Fewer icons as the number of them can be confusing.

Great for sending large log files to vendors or multiple log files. Encryption is great for securing files that have PHI or PII information. if you want to encrypt files, password-protect archives, use different compression algorithms or work with other popular compressed formats, like .RAR or 7-Zip, WinZip is definitely for you. Also, it is a great backup solution for individuals or projects to keep used space to a reasonable size and protected by encryption and/or passwords. I would not use it for large backups. You are better off with backup software meant for that usage in that case.

WinZip is an asset to our Web Designer. It has allowed us to unzip massive files containing photos from events. WinZip has also been handy for packing files for distribution. Packing a zip file onto a flash drive makes it more accessible without running out of space or using multiple flash drives to transport files.
Pros
Unpack a bunch of photos
Group PDF's into one file
Transport one file instead of a bunch via email
Cons
The new interface can be a little overwhelming if you are use to the old interface.

I think WinZip is better than any other file-zipping product. You have a lot of options as to how you want to zip files

Since we send and receive large attachments during the business day, it is important to zip and unzip files quickly. WinZip allows us to do just that. Encrypting files being sent and received is also important due to the environment in which we operate. WinZip is trusted to do just that.
Pros
Encrypt
Compression
Prevent Data Loss
Cons
Run faster
Increased compression

To securely share large files via multiple methods such as FTP, Email, and Cloud Sharing, WinZip is the preferred tool.
We use WinZip to zip and unzip large files. It has helped us immensely with transferring large documents via email and/or adding the files to a flash drive. We use WinZip on a daily basis.
Pros
Packaging multiple files into one large file
Unzipping files that are sent to use from vendors
Reduce the size of multiple files.

We had a bunch of files that needed to be sent to a vendor for uploading to a website. WinZip allowed us to zip all the files needed to send to the vendor.
WinZip is only installed on a couple of computers in our organization due to the nature of WinZip being pretty much a household name at this point. People see zip folders and don't know what it is so SEO on Google tells them WinZip. It's not being used by any special departments or teams, only a few older users who do not know about open source applications like 7z.
Pros
Zips files
Unzips files
Encrypts archives
Cons
Costs too much
No new features
Windows OS can handle all this for free.

If I could give WinZip a 0, I would. There is no business-case reason to purchase Winzip other than having a support channel to deal with when you can't open a zip file (which they will say the file is probably corrupted and to try to re-download it or obtain it from another source).

WinZip is necessary for safely sharing and compressing data around our company. It makes files smaller for quicker transfers and easy storage. A layer of data safety is added by the encryption feature, particularly for sensitive documents. It is dependable, easy to use, and facilitates smooth interaction with email and cloud services.
Pros
File Compression
Compatibility
Ease of use
Cons
splitting compressed files
fixing damaged zipped files

WinZip is ideal for emailing large reports wether to clients or colleagues. Archiving project files, and securely sharing sensitive documents with clients. It works well for reducing storage needs. However, it's less useful when collaborating in real-time or managing cloud-native documents, where tools like Google Drive or SharePoint are more efficient and accessible
