Whova serves as a comprehensive event management platform, primarily utilized by organizations to streamline logistical coordination and enhance attendee engagement for conferences and various events. In TrustRadius reviews, it is widely adopted for managing conference agendas, facilitating personal schedules, and fostering networking among participants, with over 70% of reviewers specifically praising its capabilities for connecting attendees and organizing event information. Reviewers often highlight the application's user-friendly interface and its effectiveness in disseminating event details.
While Whova significantly contributes to expanding professional networks and improving the overall event experience, some areas for improvement were noted. Nearly half of reviewers expressed frustration with the manual effort required for contact management and desired more direct export options. Additionally, users reported challenges with application navigation and discovering certain features. Despite these points, the platform is generally viewed as a valuable tool for maximizing participant engagement and achieving positive return on investment for event organizers.
Pros
Facilitating attendee networking and connections
Organizing and presenting event agendas and information effectively
Providing a user-friendly application interface
Enhancing post-event contact information exchange
Fostering communication among event participants
Cons
Requiring manual effort to save new contacts
Lacking direct export capabilities for contact information
Presenting difficulties in locating certain features like community groups
Having challenges with application navigation and content discoverability
Users desiring easier access to presentations post-event
I used Whova during "The Power of Community" Creative Placemaking conference to manage the sessions I would attend and see who would be attending the workshop I was doing.
Pros
Organize information
Provide information about the event
Have a nice user interface.
Cons
Better navigation form the leaderboard and community.

I really loved the features and it easily allowed me to interact with attendees and access documents that were uploaded.
Good feedback questions and polls speakers can use
Cons
On the polls and questions, maybe only make them visible to people who attended your session. Everyone was just trying to get points and not really giving accurate feedback. I had 30 people fill out my poll if my session was helpful before it even happened and before you could watch the recording.
Require people to sign up for sessions in the Agenda so speakers have an idea of who is coming to their presentation because sometimes we need to tweak the session at the last minute to accommodate a different room of people.
Make polls and questions session specific to the session and not add them to the community talking boards where people just look for things to answer for the prize or points. Have a separate area for community polls and questions.
Whova is a great platform for conferences! It promotes user engagement and makes collaboration during conferences easy and seamless. You have the ability to share knowledge and experience with other conference users as well as interact with them thru private chats and public discussions on a wide variety of topics. The ability to include polls and pictures enhances the experience as well. I would highly recommend this platform for use during your conference!
Pros
Collaboration Opportunities
Polls
Consumer interaction

This platform works very well for remote conferences. It might not be as appropriate for in-person events, but I think it could still be utilized there as well.
I had the pleasure of using the Whova app while attending the 2024 [...] in Montreal. The Whova app was a wonderful enhancement to the in-person experience at the conference. I was able to seamlessly access important information like wifi passwords and location info, plan my conference agenda which synced automatically to my calendar, and connect with folks I met and networked with through the app. It also allows me to access all the conference materials centrally after the fact without having to mine my inbox or email presenters. By far, one of the nicest professional development experiences I've had. Thanks Whova!!
Pros
Customize agendas and event details
Connect conference and event participants
Provide key event details and docs centrally and accessibly
Cons
The tabs between the full agenda and my agenda was sometimes confusing. Maybe different colours or enhanced UX here to further differentiate?

Ideal for conferences, professional events, hybrid events etc.
Howdy! I was first introduced to the Whova application for the [...] conference held in Arlington, TX. It is a way to see the details of the conference itinerary, questions, and basically the entire even from your phone! I can see the photos without asking them to send me a copy, I could ask questions and even create my own polls! My first thought when Whova was presented to upload was "OMG another app I will never use" but boy was I wrong! I could even link my business card and my Linked In information. Another thing I didn't have to lug around during the sessions. Very impressive!
Pros
organizes the event
provides pictures
allows the user to create a poll
Cons
need to have patience to get used to maneuvering the app
As an attendee, I used the Whova app at the [...] conference in Austin, TX 2024. The app listed the Calendar of Events, allowed me to select which offerings I wanted to like or set reminders for, log Q&A and topic interest ahead of the schedule, and communicate directly with other participants. Very user-friendly and intuitive, it was a great tool that enhanced my Conference experience!
Pros
View Schedule
Use search and messaging to connect with other attendees
Log Questions and desired topics to help with presenter engagement

Whova is well suited to conferences with breakout sessions as it displays options and agenda and lets participants indicate interests and facilitates presenters sampling their audience size and spread ahead of the live session, allowing them to customize and optimize their preparation to that particular audience size and demographic. It also allows participants to be proactive with their networking, reaching out to like minded profile matches.
Attended NORC. It was great in getting around to different events. Having the maps included really helped. The social interaction was fun and engaging.
Pros
Timing of events and add to calendar and use of reminders.
Social interaction
Name of all the participants
Cons
do not use google maps so that was frustrating on getting to the event
was really pretty easy to use

Attended NORC. It was great in getting around to different events. Having the maps included really helped. The social interaction was fun and engaging. Also great to be able to see full names. So people I know by face or voice and then looking them up to refresh my memory was great. And finally lost my credit card and another attendee was able to get my credit card back to me because they could look up the name and individually send me a message. So thankful for that ability.
Although I have not used Whova in my organization, I have used it at many conferences. I think it is a great way to stay connected with, network, and meet colleagues in my industry who are both attending in-person and virtually. I love how Whova has several ways for participants to interact and get to know each other. Adding the element of competition is also fun!
Pros
Keeps events and agenda items organized
Allows for networking across all platforms (in-person, hybrid, and virtually)
Keeps participants who use the app engaged and informed
Cons
A way for the app to keep up with added points on the Leaderboard without having to go to the Leaderboard to do so.
I would love for Whova to add a section on attractions around the city, town, and area where conferences are held.
A way for the Whova app to work w/o an internet connection or low connectivity/bandwidth.

Conferences. This is the only scenario in which I've used Whova, so I cannot comment on or recommend any additional scenarios.
We do not currently use Whova within my organization, my recent use of the site/app was limited to attendance at the [...] Midyear Legislative & Regulatory Conference in Washington DC last week (March 24th-March 27th). I registered on the app to follow the conference events, agenda, and easily connect with colleagues.
Pros
Creates easy & efficient connection opportunities (e.g. messaging) between industry colleagues across different organizations/entities.
Allows for personalization of conference events/agenda
Provides standardized platform for all event attendees along with updated alerts/notifications throughout event.
Cons
Create more options for 'opt-in/opt-out' opportunities with certain features, messaging, etc.

My experience and exposure with Whova is limited to a recent industry conference but served as an effective and easy to use tool for navigating the various events, educational sessions, and networking opportunities throughout the multi-day event.
Whova was the app that was used for the 2024 COABE Conference which is the National Adult Education Conference. This app had the schedule and the class descriptions available to review and choose so that you were ready to attend the class on time. The Whova app was also used as a central location to pass along any information to attendees. It gave a board for people to communicate with each other. It had other features so that you could create polls (and have some fun).
Pros
Notifies you of messages
Keeps you organized
Allows you to interact with others in a safe manner
Cons
I would like to be able to hide or reorder the community boards so that I can keep what I am interested in on top.
I would like to see it not allow the same topic be created on the community board but rather notify you that a board has already been created and ask you if you would like to join that conversation.
I would like to be able to color code the agenda so that I can mark the classes I'm interested in, but won't have time to attend (but and go back to if they are virtual later). Then when I am at the conference, I can see the class I am supposed to go to, and not have to keep reviewing the agenda at a later time.
I would like to have had a quick how to guide on how to use the Whova app. Actually, I just found it. I think it should be on the home page as a thumbnail so its in your face for those that didn't venture around the app.
I would like to be able to mass download all the documents at the end of the conference.

I think Whova is well suited for any event that has a lot of people who need to stay in communication with one another. It is most appropriate for people who have digital skills and a smart phone.
