Categories & Use Cases

WhoisXML Email Verification API provides additional value to our corporate email security

Pros

  • WhoisXML Email Verification API obtains its disposable email detection capabilities from a disposable email domain database that monitors most disposable email providers regularly.
  • WhoisXML Email Verification API is compatible with most spam filtering solutions and other email security systems. It is also available as a Splunk application, so compatibility wasn’t an issue for us.

Cons

  • We had to avail ourselves of the custom plan because we have a pretty large user base, and each user receives hundreds of emails per day. We were able to come up with a reasonable agreement, in any case.

Most Important Features

  • Disposable email address detection
  • Generic email address detection
  • Mail server existence
  • Mailbox existence

Return on Investment

  • Enhances spam filtering, which helps keep malicious emails away. Having someone in our network falling for spam or phishing emails could be far more expensive in the long run.
  • Detects emails from disposable email domains, which are non-work-related.

Email Verification API benefits our email marketing efforts

Pros

  • It helps our system automatically tell users when they mistype their email addresses or provide nonexistent ones. It helps improve customer experience since they aren’t left assuming they entered the correct email address, only to wait for responses.
  • I like that the vendor made Email Verification API available in several languages and client libraries— PHP, Node.js, Python, Flask, and Express.js. For the dev team, it took a weight off our shoulders in terms of coding.

Cons

  • There is a maximum number of requests per second, which is 10. While this is a reasonable number, and we haven’t had any issue after a year of using the API, that is something that dev teams should take note of.

Most Important Features

  • Syntax check
  • Mail server existence

Return on Investment

  • Decrease in email bounce rates and, therefore, less likelihood of getting tagged as a spammer.
  • Good customer signup experience.
