We use VMware SD-WAN at our multiple locations. The SD-WAN solutions provide us with multiple internet connections for bandwidth optimization. The VMware solution also offers a built-in firewall, which we utilize. We also utilize the traffic control feature which allows us to set QoS for our critical applications and routes. We enjoy the ability to monitor the connections, statistics, and usage at all of our locations via the cloud dashboard.
Pros
Easy Deployment
Simplified Management
Visibility of Network
Cons
Bandwidth Accuracy

VMware SD-WAN is a well-suited solution for both small and large organizations that have multiple sites. VMware SD-WAN is well suited for users that want a reliable solution that provides redundant internet connection, quality of service for applications, and visibility into network. It is less suited for organizations that do not need constant uptime or redundant connections.

We utilize SDWAN to aggregate our 17 branch locations together to provide consistent and reliable connections for business applications. This has provided an enhanced level of response with real time applications and allowed for seamless failover between the different connections deployed. VeloCloud's SDWAN allows for detailed real time information of aggregated links.
Pros
Displays real time link information and utilization statistics.
Allows for configuration and troubleshooting through the portal.
Intuitive graphical design displays easy to read statistics for QoE.
Cons
Some of the settings and configurations aren't as intuitive as desired.
The layout of the UI could be improved for better dashboard experience.
Ability to have more than one site/destination up at a time to compare traffic between links.
Likelihood to Recommend
VMware SD WAN is a great solution for tying multiple locations together that are not physically located close. The link aggregation used in the technology allows for quicker failover to redundant connections, which makes the surface traffic seem to be uninterrupted. If planning to connect multiple locations while utilizing the existing internet, Veloclouds SDWAN provides stable and accurate aggregation of connections that provide a good sense of stability for the price.

We configure, deploy and manage multiple customers using the Velocloud solution. This device has hit the problem of cost on an MPLS circuit head-on, by providing the mechanism required to create secure transport between your sites.
Pros
Ease of setup: after unpacking the device, you can have your VC appliance up and running within minutes.
Now that VMWare owns the Velocloud solution, I believe that they will be able to invest in the product to say fresh and ahead of the competition.
The technical support is one of the best I have ever interacted with and continue to follow up until the issue is resolved.
Cons
They need to be a little clearer when it comes to licensing. And from the orchestrator, I should be able to see what licenses I currently have associated with every device and their expiration dates.
I feel even though a VM firewall can be added to a specific appliance, a full UTM firewall built within the solution would be great.

The Velocloud solution is best suited for customers who have a large number of sites that all connect back to a data center or the cloud (AWS, Azure, etc). Customers who have been paying a premium price for MPLS due to the security it provides. This also fits with customers who have locations that need to securely communicate with each other.
