The department I work for uses Trello. Specifically, we use it to track the work we do during our monthly maintenance windows where we follow a series of tasks that must be done in a specific order. We rely on it to track the changes we make as well as any issues or notes for future maintenance windows. It is a great way to have everything organized in one place and it's nice to be able to look back at previous boards to view any information that could help with any issues encountered in the current month.
Pros
Ability to add links, notes, and attachments to each card
Easy to use and get complicated tasks organized
Each task is easily separated into cards and each card can drill down into a checklist of subtasks to complete the main task.
Cons
No way to account for task dependencies
Some basic features are only available through power ups
Cannot be exported to other tools like MS Project

For small projects in a team setting, it is an excellent tool to use and I would highly recommend starting with the free version and testing it out. It is a great way to get tasks organized easily and view the full picture. In my team of five, we rely heavily on it when we have recurring projects because it is easy to grab a board and update it based on a previous one. It is also very convenient to go back to a previous board for additional information. For a larger project, it may get more complicated because you cannot see task dependencies or track times.

Trello is used to help us with our MANY task/projects that we need to keep track off; and keep status of each task/project current so we know where we are at on the project..
Pros
Task/Project tracking is what Magpul uses Trello for.
-Tracking of work; as long as you keep Trello current, is how valuable that data you maintain in it is.
We have week meetings to keep Trello updated with all our task/projects...these weekly meeting we update where we are on each of our task/projects.
Trello has been a tremendous help at Magpul on helping us track our task/project. We are able to move forward on task/project; make decision on what is documented in Trello and decide what direction to go; and then when completed we close it; it's nice to see a list of closed task/projects.
Cons
I thought Trello was prefect for your task/project management; but it was my boss who determined how we were going to use it...hmmmm; maybe a suspense system to let me know when I've missed a target date/goal? which may already be in there and we just didn't use it...

Tracking task/projects; Trello proved to be invaluable tool; finally we had a tool to help us keep track of the MULTIPLE task/projects we had on our plate of things to do; now we could track our progress; where we were at; vendors to contact; and able to close it when done.

Trello is used to track individual employees' major work items whether they are projects or project tasks. We also use Trello to track open items in complex individual work-streams where there are multiple groups involved. Both of these uses allow visibility to the work being performed for resource managers as well as work-stream owners in an Agile-type usage.
Pros
Ease of use both on the desktop as well as the mobile apps. No loss of functionality on the mobile apps.
Very visual and easy to scan through the items on the 'boards' very quickly.
Role-based security makes it easy to display only what individual users need.
Cons
Needs additional flexibility and functionality to be used as a full-fledged product management tool.
Great for Agile usage but not set up for a Waterfall methodology.
Likelihood to Recommend
Managing work-streams with multiple users and many sub-tasks involved is a huge advantage in our department. In an ever-fluid environment on a fast-moving project, it is a great tool. As previously stated, if you want to use it in a Waterfall environment it will struggle and adoption is more difficult.
