What is Tracxn?

Tracxn is a private market data platforms which tracks companies across the globe. It scans data to help customers perform market research on the startup ecosystem, find deals matching their mandate, perform company due diligence, In-depth tracking of funding rounds, company news, and tracking of emerging themes across industries and markets.

Tracxn states its clientele includes Venture capitalists (VC), Private Equity Funds (PE), Merger & Acquisition (M&A), and Innovation teams of Fortune 500 companies and Investment Banks. The Tracxn platform is also used by various Governments, Accelerators & Incubators, and Universities for tracking innovative companies and sectors.

Tracxn is a subscription-based Software as a Service ("Saas") platform that covers 5M+ companies through 3K+ feeds categorized across industries, sectors, and sub-sectors with a presence in over 50+ countries.

We used Tracxn to track the FinTech/WealthTech/InsurTech space, wherein we keep a track of ongoing deal activity (funding as well as volume), start-ups raising the most amount of funding, people information, and other datasets such as investor profiles, employee count, news, their financials, acquisitions made by them, etc.

Pros

  • Helped in streamlining information gathering i.e. from a single source.
  • Helped generate insights.
  • Helped search for potential targets for clients.

Cons

  • Sector reports could be better e.g. competitors like CB Insights do a better job at it.
  • Pricing is a bit steep, when compared to peers like Dealroom.
  • Credibility of the data is a question mark (CB Insights has way more traction with investors).
