It's used internally by the department to manage and visualize data. We use it to generate and create reports also. It helps us manage the huge amount of data we have and makes it easier to search and see trends. We also use it to give a summary to our management on the trends.

TIBCO Data Virtualization is one of the widely used and popular Data Virtualization Tools which was initially developed by the identity of Cisco Information Server. This product was developed with the sole and primary purpose of breaking down all of the data silos and transforming all of the complicated data into a simplified version which eventually makes it interpret and understand. This tool has been serving its great features in organizations for a long time.

The software has flawlessly connected all of the primary data sources and combined the transactional data with different other department data sources simultaneously.
The I advantage found in the platform is its ability to scale out all of the queries in horizontal and vertical ways both of which I find to be very unconventional.
With the help of this platform the sales and marketing department of our organization can easily gauge by making an assessment exclusively for their penetration stages and even environmental in-depth analysis.
Cons
There are a few downsides of the tool as well as personally in my organization I felt that there is no such support of data lineage.
There was also some poor integration with different modeling tools.

If you are using other TIBCO tools as well within your organization then this will be a great addition to your existing toolset because it will assist you to carry out thorough analysis of your data requirements and the needs for the transformation tool.

Since November 2017 we have been reselling and implementing TIBCO Data Virtualization under the new TIBCO partnership. Numerous organizations, all with challenges around data management and analytics (complex data engineering, replication of data getting out of control, compliance and regulations that cannot be met anymore and long time-to-market for Analytical solutions as data is not easy to find, integrate, enrich and use), selected TIBCO Data Virtualization to make any data available, in a secure, fast and flexible way, for analytics. While leveraging the existing data solutions like data warehouses, data lakes and data services. The virtual layers approach makes it very easy to make any data available in any form or structure that is needed. The API-interface makes it possible to integrate TIBCO Data Virtualization in an existing data architecture.

There is one version of the TDV- tool that holds all functionality. No additional licenses needed, everything is included.
MPP-functionality (TDV 8.0.0) makes automatic query distribution over large (big data) clusters possible and guarantees very high performance with querying 100's of millions of rows.
The TDV Studio application combines the use of ANSI-SQL (you can script for more complex tasks) with a graphical user interface for modeling the data layers, both supporting fast development of data and web services. TDV Server is a complete package with all the enterprise grade functionality an organization may need.
