TIBCO Integration (including BusinessWorks and Flogo) Reviews
Scribe is being used by the sales department in our organization to synchronize data between the ERP system and the CRM system we use to make sales.
Pros
It offers standard connectors for a lot of systems.
It offers a web UI to configure processes, so no need for coding knowledge.
It allows custom connectors to be added.
Cons
The UI is clumsy. For instance, all links are javascript links which cannot be copied or opened in a new window.
The UI is horribly slow and buggy making the configuring processes tedious sometimes.
It integrates with Dynamics 365 CRM, but it can't start workflows or actions.
Likelihood to Recommend
It's good for quick and dirty integrations as its very easy to set up, but not so for very large integrations. Having a lot of maps makes the environment slow and unreliable.

In our organization, my team manages TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks for many years for a good number of integration projects. It allows you to quickly and easily connect applications, with reliability and scalability. Our integration platform is made up of thousands of processes of every kind type (eg. finance, banking, assurance, energy, doc manage, etc..). We are also responsible for maintenance and updates. If the integration platform is easy to use, The project will be more scalable.
Pros
Ease of use—Integration activities
Short deployment Processes
Scalability and extensibility of Projects
Drag-and-drop graphical development environment
Cons
Energy and Utilities area: we faced situations to respond an increasing demand, and through TIBCO BusinessWorks we reduced costs and job time.
Bank Area: through TIBCO BusinessWorks we connected and unified banking business processes across applications and data sources.
Finance Area: The integration project was ready to go to production within a realistic timeframe and deploying from development to a running project went smoothly.
Likelihood to Recommend
Short deployment cycle processes are the best choice for an integration project for lots of reasons. Through TIBCO. BusinessWorks you could connect process to Database or simply Soap Request so the project will be flexible and adaptable and you can potentially adapt it to multiple activities. Of course, it is not used for long deployment running processes (see TIBCO. Active Matrix).
Tibco is used to implement interfaces among different systems in different departments.
Pros
It works very well between SAP and other systems that cannot talk directly to SAP.
It can help us to increase/reduce the number of interfaces running at the same time and balancing the load between different servers in different places.
Cons
Programming is harder at the beginning since there are a lot of new concepts and tools.
The programmer needs to know how to handle xml and how to transform it.
Handling errors is not good compared with other environments. The product still needs to improve in this area.
Likelihood to Recommend
TIBCO is a very expensive tool. It needs a lot of servers with lot of resources to work well. Training is also expensive.
Tibco BW is used as one of the core middleware components for interfacing with multiple enterprise systems within the organisation. It interfaces with outside vendors for file transfer, accessing services on the web. It also exposes services using standard protocols to internal systems.
Its used in one department.
Provides the key roles in data transfer and transformation for Market Systems of utilities industry.
Pros
Relatively easy to develop / design the processes.
Easy to deploy and monitor.
Quite a few options to solve the problem to satisfy business needs and to align with policies of company.
Cons
There is no clear path to migration to newer versions ( 6.x from 5.x) of Tibco BW. Too much risk and cost is prohibitive. This makes it difficult to use the new features and capabilities of BW.
Licensing cost of add on components is prohibitive. There are no tangible benefits to business, but can make a huge difference to operations. Simply said IT wants it, but cost doesn't allow business to purchase these licenses.
Likelihood to Recommend
When guaranteed delivery of messages are required to one of more systems, Tibco BW suite of applications can be very useful. Many times the end systems are down, but when these systems are back; business wants these messages to be delivered to the end system as a normal message.

TIBCO BusinessWorks is being used by IT division for application integration at Denver Water Utilities.
Pros
Application data Integration batch/real-time
Web service
Very quick time to market and ROI. Development time is very fast.
Cons
Migration to BusinessWorks 6 from BusinessWorks 5 is a real challenge to date.
As Rest services take a lot of space nowadays BusinesWorks 5 should include a rest plugin by default. Customers are not willing to pay extra for that.
Another thing is SFTP. BusinessWorks must include SFTP activity as well in version 5.
JDBC Query, or update or SQL direct should have the place to use multiple JDBC connections dynamically. For example, if I have multiple databases that have the same table structure to query, I want to write a single JDBC query and loop through different databases. Currently I'm achieving that using Java code (extra coding effort, extra time consuming).
Likelihood to Recommend
[Well suited for] Day to day business integrations mostly for all different organizations. TIBCO BusinessWorks can implement any functionality in very little amount of time.
But migrating from BusinessWorks5 to BusinessWorks6 is still a pain area. The migration tool still needs to be made more effective or else moving to the cloud (BWCE) will be tough for customers.
