It's great for live connections and when you need better performance compared to other BI tools. These are its strengths. Where it can improve is making it more intuitive to use, easier to setup data connections, and building a much stronger community that helps each other and inspires one another.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Data visualization related to customer complaints. ThoughtSpot allows for quick and easy customization of the required information. Some superusers provide basic dashboards using complaints datasets, and then the team is able to customize what to display (e.g. complaints belonging to a specific customer, country, year…) and how (type of graph, grouping…).

Non-admins cannot easily customize color palettes (at least in a corporate environment)

Likelihood to Recommend

Scenarios where you don’t need a static dashboard, but a dashboard to play with, easily add data, remove it, change how it is visualized… I’d recommend having a basic view that allows users to avoid a lot of pre configuration and just need to type in what they want to see.

We use ThoughSpot as a Business Analytics and reporting tool. Some of our organization data is connected and available in ThoughtSpot so we can generate tables, charts and a complete Dashboard to review, analyze, and report this data. The main problem ThoughtSpot resolves in our organization, compared to other similar tools we have is that is much more flexible so many users can generate their personalized views and analysis directly in the tool.

It is well suited when the same data is consumed by many different people with different analytics and visualization requirements because, if you have the data available in ThoughtSpot, every user can prepare different views.

Also, it is a good reporting tool, you can get rid of slides if you have a good dashboard prepared, gaining flexibility and agility.

ThoughtSpot allows us to create liveboards that are fast processing when it comes to large datasets. We are able to do live data connections that give us the scalability to find insights that ultimately guide us in strategic management of our data whether it is engineering, marketing, product, etc. This serves a wide array of use cases on whether this is strategy-focused or product-focused.

ThoughtSpot is a very important data analysis software for our company and department that has been used because it has been collaborating in deep and accurate analysis based on different graphs, databases, tables, and illustrative panels for business decision making. We have already had experience with several types of software of this type, but the ThoughtSpot software is the one that has more assertiveness in facts. Its level of customization is greatly improved in the interface and brings better quality in the presentation of results and reports. Technical support is another strong point because it has a fast and punctual service in solving the problem or question.

Pros

User-friendly and customizable interface.
Function to create personalized reports and rich in details of the analyzed data.
Very fast and accurate in the content filter.
Smart dashboard, graphs and tables to illustrate the information to the analyst.
Real time analysis.

Cons

Graphs are excellent ways of visualizing the data, but I feel like there are very few options available in terms of choice. It can be improved.
It's complex for beginners. Training or intensive is required to learn all the features and get the most out of the software.

It is a cloud software with great BI analysis and artificial intelligence capabilities and excellent real-time data analysis capabilities in graphs and dashboards and data export in reports. We recommend it to anyone interested in this kind of intelligent and accurate information analysis technology that can aid decision-making, business, and development. Pros

Ask questions in a natural and meaningful way with a business mindset not restricted by IT skills
Develop further insights based on search results and recommendations, and vote on quality and relevancy
Totally shield complexity of tech from end user, so users have consumer-grade UX
We are surprised to see how this benefited data management and governance
The productivity gain is enormous
Customizable UI with minimum coding

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

It's used across the whole organization. It's been useful for addressing the big amount of queries we receive on a daily basis, as the platform is user-friendly and you can direct people that normally wouldn't run a report in a ERP.

Pros

Intuitive platform, easy to learn how to use it.
Lots of charts possibilities, and presentation mode saves you hours doing PowerPoint presentations.
It's quite easy to upload a new database to analyse different datasets.

Cons

There's still some work to be done in presentation mode.
The tool could be a bit faster.

Likelihood to Recommend

It's really good for seeing live information, doing quick analysis or graphs without the need of Excel, as this will be dynamic and you won't need to update them every time. It's less useful if you want to download a big set of information for then modelling it into Excel (i.e. large financial models).

- Next Level of Self Service BI
- High volume Data to be analyzed by the end user
- Reduce the number of used Dashboards by combining data sources and use case into just a few.

Live Search on Cloud data bases (Snowflake, Redshift, Big Query, Terradata and SAP Hana)
Speed of search on data set bigger the 20 GB
Intuitive way to create sharable information
Using SpotIQ for unexpected insights (Specially the speed)

Cons

ETL Functionality (Dataflow is getting there)
More data source connectors
Debugging data loading scripts before using them (Simulation)
More chart types

Likelihood to Recommend

Well suited for:
- Using big data set < 25/50 GB for analysis and search
- Fast connect and search capabilities on online data bases
- Next level of self service
- Quickly sharing information
- getting automated insights and ideas with SpotIQ
Less appropriate:

- ETL features, if data has to be transformed (need to use other ETL products)

ThoughtSpot enable self-service BI, and is positioned between classical dashboard BI and AI/ML-based Data Science. It opens up opportunities for business users to better understand their data, and to develop insights on this data. Based on the natural language based query language end user can more easily navigate through their data, and build insights graphics per click. Collaboration with peers and insights consumers is enabled through a social media like sharing, commenting and voting experience. All in all a great step towards data driven company. There are similar products, but ThoughtSpot shines in its set of features and capabilities, as well as in the User Experience.

ThoughtSpot is currently being used by our strategy and planning organization. This group is responsible for ad-hoc analysis of data but also gets requests for one-off analysis. We're attempting to leverage ThoughtSpot as a tool for one-off analysis so that users can pull their own data without having to have a deep understanding of the other tools in play for data analysis.

Well suited for ad-hoc quick requests and providing insights that may not be easily discovered. It makes quick work of searching large data sets and makes it easy for users to pull together exactly what they're looking for. It does take a bit of business and IT investment to initially get things configured to ensure it's usable for the average user.
