Thinkific Made It Possible Launching an Interior Design Education Platform

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Thinkific as my education portal for my target audience of trade professionals working in the built environment.

Pros

  • Easy to use platform.
  • Easy to change and update contact.
  • Intuitive for my students.
  • Offers a variety of material to be uploaded like PDFs, images, videos etc.

Cons

  • In the payment portal, students purchasing my course should have the option to choose their preferred currency.
  • Opportunity to gather leads through a waitlist for future courses.
  • Task reminders related to students asking me questions - I often don't realize that a follow-up is required with posts in the community. Can the person posting click a button to indicate a general post or request action from the organizer/admin staff?
  • MOST IMPORTANT - help us market our course like other platforms do.

Likelihood to Recommend

I believe it's the best education platform for me.

Highly recommend.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I began creating my online courses on Thinkific 5 years ago and have not regretted it. I started on a different platform but when I wasn't getting the support I needed, I went looking for something else and found Thinkific. Thinkific is easy to use, has great support and publishes training that supports a startup course creator like me. And it seems they are always working on new functionality which is very important and keeps me around, happily.

Pros

  • The courses and training offered is a game changer for startup course creators.
  • Ever improving and adding new functionality.

Cons

  • The community function is somewhat unusable for my students; I'm not sure if it's hard to find or what, but I have a tough time getting them to use it.

Likelihood to Recommend

I honestly can't think of a scenario where it wouldn't be appropriate.

Using Thinkific in Architectural Education

Rating: 7 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Thinkific to provide our nonprofit's courses on the internet; it does a good job of this; however directing users to the website + to buy the courses proves difficult; some users may find the sign-in process to long or difficult; another issue we have is Thinkific charges us a monthly fee which it taxes...even though we are a nonprofit; legally we are tax-exempt; we have been unable to resolve this;

Pros

  • Listing the courses works
  • Have an exam works...
  • The website set-up looks professional

Cons

  • It should not be charging a sales tax to a 501-c3 in the US which it continues to do;
  • Helping with marketing courses would be great - we don't really have the bandwidth for this...and find it challenging...
  • Not calling the courses 'Products' on the main course page - we requested Thinkific to change this...but was told it could not be done!

Likelihood to Recommend

I think the course program + questionnaires with it work well; it is getting people to sign up for our courses that is problematic for our non-profit; we could use help with marketing + developing strategies for that;

Great product

Rating: 7 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Thinkific is our new learning management system. We are using it to publish courses and certifications for our community, and also for internal skill development. We have recently migrated to Thinkific and are liking using it so far. Earlier, we weren't able to give badges to students but this limitation no longer exists, which is nice.

Pros

  • Badges
  • Customizations / APIs
  • Easy to use, intuitive interface

Cons

  • Badges need to be tracked, i.e., analytics need to capture badges
  • No option to limit students taking an exam (quiz) just once - major limitation.
  • Integration with our existing user flows became a challenge during migration.

Likelihood to Recommend

Thinkific is well suited to design customize landing pages for courses or certifications. Implementing branding is easy. We are using Thinkific to maintain our course catalog, which is utilized by thousands of students each week.
We're finding that customizing payment flows, for example, based on various permutations and combinations is challenging. There's some rigidity to the system, which makes it difficult to implement access for free users vs. subscribers vs. those who just make a one-time payment to register for a certification.

A decent academy-building tool

Rating: 6 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use it for an external partners academy, training resellers on how to use our platform in the same way we train our internal teams. We create the content outside of Thinkific and then upload SCORM, in order to give a variable amount of sellers access to the content. The number of users is changing every month, and Thinkific handles this well

Pros

  • Works smoothly and quickly with no lag
  • Manage different landing page URLs
  • Customize landing pages

Cons

  • Weak reporting
  • No grouping of users for assignment
  • Content video upload and management is not intuitive

Likelihood to Recommend

For selling courses it could be good, or for managing multiple landing pages for example a course in multiple languages. It is more suitable for use-cases which are self-serve training, and not in the case that you want to manage different groups of learners, track their progress and ensure that they have completed assigned training. The reporting was rigid, and we experience multiple issues with the flow of uploading videos and using them in multiple courses- we were constantly having to re-upload videos

Overall Great Course Platform

Rating: 8 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Thinkific is a good course platform. We've had less issues with it than we did with Teachable, though like any platform is has some limitations. We use it for all our online courses and delivery of some bonus content as well. We also use the communities feature.

Pros

  • Integration with Email Marketing Platform
  • Easy to use interface
  • Ability to create simple landing pages

Cons

  • Bulk enrollment/unenrollment, specifically related to communities
  • The ability to see who is currently an active member in a community
  • The ability to schedule monthly charges rather than have them be whenever the user enrolls. For example, to run a cohort program.

Likelihood to Recommend

Thinkific is a great course platform. It does has limitations related to communities and I think if someone needed a more robust community platform there are better suited solutions. From the course perspective though, Thinkific is a simple to use platform and has a good user experience on both sides (customer and administrator).

Thinkific Over-delivers for New Course Creators

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Thinkific as a platform to deliver several digital courses. It is used for delivering content such as video modules, text, and downloads, but also serves the purpose of both lead generation as well as customer retention efforts. The main problem it solves is delivery of digital course content to multiple users.

Pros

  • User Interface Design for the Course Creator
  • Ability to Customize Branding
  • Intuitive Flow for the Student

Cons

  • When viewing your content as a student, it does not provide easy navigation back to the Creator Dashboard which is not necessarily the most intuitive navigation for the creator.
  • With the basic plan, you don't have the ability to allow students to have a monthly payment option for purchase. For this feature, you must upgrade. I think it should be part of the basic plan.
  • I'm not a fan of their affiliate interface. It is not very robust. I actually purchased this software originally because they included an affiliate dashboard within the system making it easier to convert students into affiliates, but I quickly realized that it was not robust enough for my needs.

Likelihood to Recommend

Overall, I'm very happy with Thinkific and will continue to use it to deliver my digital courses. It's perfect for those who have only one (or several) courses. It's also a good price point at only $49 per month to get started for someone who is just dipping their toe into the pool with digital courses. When I first started creating digital courses almost 10 years ago, there were not many software options available to deliver the content. Now there are many and I have tried many and have found Thinkific to be among the best for digital course newbies.

Simple & Intuitive Learning Management System That Looks Great & Easy to Use

Rating: 8 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Thinkific internally to provide a basic Cyber Security learning course for every new user on our system as part of the onboarding process. We also use it as an onboarding and training tool for another client who runs a program for high school students to learn the basics of accounting and bookkeeping while being paid for actual work, like an internship.

Pros

  • Learning management system that is easy to author
  • The user interface is clear and intuitive for the end-user

Cons

  • When creating content, there are some quirks with the editor that need getting used to.

Likelihood to Recommend

We found that using the Thinkific platform was great for any self-paced learning situation. Internally for our IT company, we use Thinkific to provide a cybersecurity training course for all new users to our platform as an onboarding step to ensure that every user has a baseline level of security awareness. The platform allows us to use video, audio, slides, gifs, quizzes, and many other text editing tools to provide a varied self-pace learning environment. For another client, we were able to integrate Thinkific with a custom made gamification engine that tracked student progress and rewarded accordingly.

An LMS that works for you!

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Thinkific is a wonderful learning management software. It is being used across the whole organization and I recommend it to clients. This software helps us solve the problem of storing and presenting training materials. Instead of creating separate documents, videos, PDFs and PowerPoint presentations this also use to combine various types of media into one platform.

Pros

  • Classroom-style course outlines.
  • Quizzes and other knowledge checks.

Cons

  • Better corporate pricing for users that are not charging for courses.
  • Allowing the users to be split versus paid and unpaid.

Likelihood to Recommend

Online course creators are an area they do well for and seem to market to them. I would like to see a lower price point for those users that are not charging for their courses. It is well suited for finding and storing all kinds of training materials in one location.
