Sophos email is a have to have!

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Sophos email as a way to protect and filter our staff's email boxes from all the junk and malicious emails that arrive daily. The way it integrates into our Sophos Central web portal is highly efficient for anyone on the IT Team to manage users, quarantined emails, filters, DLP policy, etc. And the new on-demand sandbox feature is one of the coolest things I have seen this year! I highly recommend this solution for anyone looking for a complete and reliable email security product that will make you rest easy at night.

Pros

  • A clear easy to navigate and understand interface
  • Advanced drill down options for investigating
  • The instant very fast sandbox feature to test those email links and attachments

Cons

  • We have just started using the updated web GUI
  • So we do not see any areas for improvement yet
  • But with my team using this more and more we might find some

Most Important Features

  • Comprehensive protections
  • Clear and concise alerting
  • User interface experience
  • The support is great

Return on Investment

  • Positive are many of the things i have already explained
  • Positive ROI is a reliable solution we will use for years and years
  • No negatives so far

Sophos Email - You Get What You Pay For

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use it for email filtering, DLP and email encryption.

Pros

  • Blocking specified file types as attachments
  • Allowing users to release quarantined emails
  • They are adding new features at a decent pace

Cons

  • Portal encryption. Outside users are not able to reply to everyone on the email chain. They can only reply to the person who sent the email.
  • You cannot control which mailboxes are licensed.
  • Email filtering. A lot of spam emails and spoofed emails tend to get through. This has gotten better recently with a slider that allows you to specify how aggressive the system is.

Most Important Features

  • Encryption
  • DLP
  • Anti-spam and Malware

Return on Investment

  • Reducing risk of email attacks

Alternatives Considered

Sophos Email - A Solid, Reliable Product at a Fair Price

Pros

  • Monitors and protects inbound/outbound emails very well.
  • Policies are flexible and easy to manage.
  • Works well with Office 365.
  • Dashboard layout is nice and informative.

Cons

  • Reporting could be more granular, it's the most glaring weakness of the product.
  • The ability to drill down into data from the dashboard would be very helpful for reporting as well.
  • Reverse AD sync so when active directory users are removed, they are removed from Sophos as well would be helpful.

Return on Investment

  • It has caught a ton of malicious emails since implementation, it's scary to think how many were getting through before we started using it.
  • It's reduced the clutter of users' mailboxes, reducing the amount of spam and junk that was making it through.
  • We have more peace of mind that we're protecting ourselves much better than we were before.

Usability

I recommend Sophos Email because it helps us against SPAM and Phishing attacks

Pros

  • Minimizing SPAM emails
  • Protection against Phishing attacks
  • Protection of Office 365

Cons

  • I'm not sure but I think that Sophos Email is not compatible with some email platforms such as ZEBRA
  • Third part ranking
  • The email awareness component is not part of Sophos Email and should be ordered separately

Return on Investment

  • Without ISO 27001, our brand [directly impacts] and the email protection is a must for such standard certification
  • We are dealing with personal data for hundred of patients; if we are attacked and we don't have an email protection solution, all our [patient's] information will be on the dark web; which leads to huge professional loss
  • Exchange with some other health institution by being sure that the data shared via email is protected
