We benefit most from the sound structure of data which contributes to the ease of content management. The out-of-the-box multi-language support enables us to cater to different regions across the globe. Headless implementation allows us to be flexible with our data platform use. Personalization allows us to automate seasonal campaigns.
My teams and I leverage Sitecore DXP components for customer engagement, content operations, content management, commerce, search and personalization. We address common business problems leveraging the technology that include maximizing conversion, fast tracking content operations and discoverability.
Pros
High quality content management functionality
High quality visual component governance and syndication functionality.
Flexible and high quality digital asset management capabilities.
Strong search functionality.
Flexible eCommerce capabilities.
Cons
Sitecore could supply their own front end hosting cloud OOTB as a turnkey option for XM Cloud.
Sitecore Content Hub (DAM) could have additional functionality to be more comprehensive as a campaign operations tool for multithreaded campaign management.
Sitecore Order Cloud is SO flexible (is it too flexible?) that an OOTB implementation could be more opinionated and easier to stand up from scratch.

Sitecore XM/XP or XMCloud are great solutions for building high performing, well governed web sites. Whether you want to leverage an onPrem (private cloud, PaaS) implementation or a SaaS implementation, Sitecore can be a great solution for you. It has strong access controls for user accounts and permissions for content editing, approvals and workflows and permits complete flexibility with regards to design of a UI laying on top of the framework. It has strong MVC and Headless design patterns from a coding standpoint and the two can be used in parallel for different use cases required in today's web world.
We used this platform to create more than 20k landing pages for our website. For us, we liked how the platform allowed us to add, delete, duplicate components to have a consistent look and feel of the website. The products we offer are diverse and thus we need to make sure that the look and feel of the website is in accordance with product types (or categories). Example: We wanted to have all black backgrounds for products related to Cinema and white for Healthcare and thus we need to make sure that our components are created accordingly.
Pros
Previewing content- Its exactly as it would be once live
Easy to add, delete, modify or duplicate content on any component
Page structure is creation is easy- we can even choose icons to have symbolic representation of components we added on a page
Everything has an id assigned to it which makes our searches easy as we can simply inspect the page to find an if of component we are searching for
We can use same component on multiple pages, which make our life easier as we just need to edit a component once and it will be synced with all the pages themselves
Cons
Searching something is difficult, we need to backtrack a lot within Sitecore Experience Platform
I found Sitecore Experience Platform to be a bit slow, it takes time to load things
Its difficult to work with when we need every page and components to have translations
Publish items and subitems is possible but sub-sub items need to be published manually or we need to create scripts
Likelihood to Recommend
We need to spend a lot of time to learn things in Sitecore Experience Platform. I used it for 6 years and there was always something new to learn. Try to start using shortcuts as soon as you start working on it as it really saves a lot of time. Sitecore Experience Platform has maximum number of features which is good but then you need to spend time learning them all

At Promega, we use Sitecore as the content management system (CMS) for our public website (http://www.promega.com). The content management environment is used by a fairly diverse set of content editors who work together to create, manage, curate, and maintain our website content.
My team (Web Team) supports the content editors by creating new page types and templates, as well as extending the default Sitecore behavior to more appropriately match the needs of the organization.
Pros
Extensibility
Performance
User friendliness
Cons
Developer community is still evolving and growing
Learning curve for some operations (content editor or developer) can be steep

Sitecore is perfect for an organization that needs the ability to perform a lot of customizations to their website and the data that is exposed there. It allows for "chunking" of data, so that these smaller chunks can be reused across various areas of the site. In the hands of competent .NET and web developers, Sitecore is an amazing platform.
Sitecore is probably too much for a company that just needs a simple website with a few pages. If your pages are not changing frequently and you don't need automated integration to other systems or processes, Sitecore may not be the best fit.
