Use Cases and Deployment Scope

SignUpGenius allows us to easily track and manage participants in a wide variety of events and activities we host in our community. The options available to send post-sign up notice, view reports, and submit manual signups are all very helpful

Pros

  • Post-sign up communications - allows for pre-event communication to specific rsvp types or to all respondents
  • Post-event reporting - allows for export of signup information
  • Easy to use - for our community, both management and volunteers use SignUpGenius to facilitate participation and planning for a wide variety of events and activities

Cons

  • We are currently using the free version and do not have any recommended changes. Everything works as promoted.

  • Easy to implement.
  • Great free design options.
  • Provides you with a link to send your constituents when completed.

Cons

  • Occasionally difficult to edit a spreadsheet.
  • Sometimes confusing when setting up a spreadsheet with dates and time slots.
  • Would love even more free designs than what is offered.

Pros

  • Easy to access. No login or registration is required for people to sign up for slots--just click the link and go.
  • No real technical expertise or knowledge is necessary to successfully use the tool.
  • Several different options/styles of signups are available.

Cons

  • The templates that are available (particularly for the free version) are visually clunky and dated-looking, with minimal options available for customization.
  • It can be challenging to try and figure out exactly what type of sign-up might work best for your needs--you may need to edit your choices a couple of times.
  • The "share" URLs for signups are long and clunky. No option to shorten them in-platform.

  • The fact that no registration is required is crucial for students, since they are reluctant to register for anything they don't absolutely have to
  • The fact that the free version is relatively full-featured
  • The versatility and flexibility of the types of signups that can be created

Return on Investment

  • I can only answer this on an abstract level; our university actively encourages professors to minimize direct costs that are passed on to students, and because SignUpGenius does not require anyone to spend anything (either instructor or students), it likely has an extremely marginal positive impact.

  • Easy to keep track of limited signup slots

Cons

  • If we have several events--say 10--and we are only allowing people to sign up for five events, we have not figured out a way to limit someone from signing up for all 10 events since they are separate signups.
