An awesome and easy to learn analytical tool

Rating: 8 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We used Sigma Computing to deliver multiple dashboards to client. The interface is very user friendly and the spreadsheet like features and calculations makes it easy to learn for the people who are working on spreadsheets. The ability to filter datasets using parameter and also the Row level security that can hide access to any rows from unauthorized access is a big add on. We have also implemented calendar heatmap using pivot table which was appreciated by the client as well.

Pros

  • Workbook Embedding
  • Dataset creation
  • RLS
  • Filters sync
  • Custom Operations
  • Sigma Computing Help and support
  • User Friendly interface
  • Easy to learn
  • Highlighting options
  • Gauge, Pie, Sankey charts in built options

Cons

  • Multiple joins with dataset.
  • Table formatting options

Likelihood to Recommend

Sigma Computing is well suited where you want to save your time in building the dashboards and have a self service based UI where a person can make changes very easily to the dashboard and the people who are working with Spreadsheets and now want to switch to some BI tool it will be really easy to learn and work on.
Saving costs for the client in multiple ways like embedding, Running warehouse queries etc.

Sigma Computing - The best Analytical tool

Rating: 9 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We used Sigma Computing to deliver dashboards. The interface is very user friendly and the custom options that Sigma Computing provides are very helpful. The power of using control IDs of the filters as the parameters directly in the SQL query is a big hit. We have connected our front end application filters with the Sigma Computing dashboard filters and made them communicate with each other.

Pros

  • Workbook embedding
  • Dataset creation
  • RLS
  • Usage of control_ids of the filters in various ways
  • Custom operations
  • Support Team
  • Easy User Interface

Cons

  • Multiple Joins in a dataset - not with Custom SQL

Likelihood to Recommend

If we have very huge data that has to be filtered based on the selection in the workbook filters, then passing the control IDs of the filters as the parameters directly in the SQL query is a great help. This way helps us in optimizing large SQL queries as well. If we want our front end application filters with the Sigma Computing dashboard filters to communicate with each other, we can certainly do that in embedding with the help of the control_ids.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Sigma Computing to find patterns in my data and create dashboards to strategize business decisions based on my analysis. I enjoy using Sigma Computing because of the flexibility it gives me
to share my dashboards with other users and allow them to edit or view them as well.

Pros

  • Customer Technical Support (Sigma Help)
  • Addressing feedback from users (implementing requested features)
  • Providing demo's on new product launches

Cons

  • Sometimes my dashboard crashes if there are too many pages on it
  • Ability to share dashboards externally (I'd like to add some to my public portfolio like I do with Tableau)

Likelihood to Recommend

Sigma Computing is very beginner friendly because of their technical support team, leveraging this at the beginning of my Sigma journey was immensely helpful. Even today, where I am more comfortable with Sigma i'll run into an issue and their support team will always be there to walking me through a solution. I also think it's easier to make more cohesive and clean dashboards on Sigma Computing.

Great BI tool loved by many business stakeholders

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use it to create reports for other teams to provide a more complete view of the company. We are able to create workbooks that report on a global level (not just D2C, E-commerce, etc) and be able to connect different sources of data that would've been separate otherwise.

Pros

  • Our team loves Excel and it is very similar to excel
  • User friendly UI
  • Sigma team is responsive whenever we have questions or need to troubleshoot

Cons

  • Be able to create more robust reporting - can't do window functions
  • Sometimes we get a lot of loading errors. I don't think the query it optimized when Sigma is creating the reporting. When I look at the query it's thousands of lines long

Likelihood to Recommend

I think Sigma is great for companies that have different teams with different needs.

A data analysis tool that is easy implement and easy to learn.

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I utilize Sigma to visualize datasets that I have curated in snowflake. Sigma allows us to identify issues within our products and services to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Pros

  • Allows end users to easily dive into the data without having direct access to the table in our database management software.
  • Can easily turnaround dashboards that are detailed and visually pleasing.
  • Sigma is intuitive and as new features are rolled out it is easy to adopt and incorporate them into new and existing dashboards.

Cons

  • Improved period over period functionality within the KPI Visual that would allow me to compare one year to another without including all years in the visual. I.E. the primary value is 2022 and the comparison line is 2021.
  • Greater ability to customize aspects of different visuals such as color, font and font size.
  • The ability for certain elements or blocks of elements to move as one scrolls down the page. I.E. I would enjoy the ability to create a set of filter elements along one side of the dashboard that scrolls with the user as the user scrolls down the page to view various visuals.

Likelihood to Recommend

Sigma is intuitive to use and can be quickly understood i.e. versus tableau which is more complex. Sigma handles large datasets (10MM + rows) easily with limited load time.

Great product for non-technical users and a value add to data teams.

Rating: 9 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Data democratization, enabling non-technical users to work with our company's business data; data engineering. We use Sigma for all of our data visualization needs, from ad hoc analyses to dashboards used by the whole company.

Pros

  • Provides a familiar data analysis format with its spreadsheet interface.
  • Fast; by querying the warehouse directly, it's much more performant than other cloud-based BI tools.
  • Allows non-technical users to interact with and analyze warehouse data without needing to know SQL.
  • Easy-to-use templates are great for monitoring aspects of our data stack.

Cons

  • UI is a little clunky; you'd expect a product that was developed in the last 5-10 years to have a snappier interface and a more polished product.
  • There really needs to be a way to weave custom SQL queries into a workbook to perform advanced aggregations and manipulations; currently, you can only use SQL to load data into a parent table.

Likelihood to Recommend

Very well suited for non-technical users, particularly managers who rely on the insights from the data but lack the technical skills to analyze the data via code. Definitely not for data science use cases; questionable use for data analyst and data engineering use cases as well.

Cons

  • Speed
  • Visualization
  • SQL query assistance.

Likelihood to Recommend

Weekly reporting and dashboarding for key metrics are really well organized on Sigma - Experiment tracking is helpful as it allows us to share impact and performance with key stakeholders - Querying from Snowflake tables is seamless - Speed is an area of improvement as sometimes loading data takes a long time.

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Sigma provides self-service analytics, enabling users to perform complex data analysis without relying on IT or data teams. Sigma Computing offers various analytics use cases, including cohort analysis and spend attribution. Their mission is to empower everyone to explore data and make better decisions, and they have received funding and recognition for their analytics and AI products.

Pros

  • Support
  • UI
  • Data visualizations.

Cons

  • Price
  • New features.
  • Solution compatibility.

Likelihood to Recommend

It’s great for companies parsing data through multiple clouds with multiple customer types or personas. It also is great for companies with disproportionate statistics because of bot problems. Sigma is really top-notch in these scenarios, but it seems to be a worthwhile investment if you are only in one cloud as well.
