Use Cases and Deployment Scope

SAP helps me integrate, visualize and process data effectively and efficiently. Data retrieval and analysis using SAP is much easier and more robust comparatively. Also, it is easy to connect and join data at elsewhere and integrate them and/or remove the redundancies more smoothly. The cloud linkage and workflow are the best suite.

Pros

Data from numerous sources, both locally and on the cloud, is simple to integrate.
Simplified and detailed data visualization tools.
simple and rapid development
Integrate previously existing data models.

Cons

High cost and maintainence
There are no free services available, no free demo application use cases which makes the user not have an overview how efficient it is.
Virtual servers are sometimes laggy and slow..

Likelihood to Recommend

SAP is quite good at combining data from several sources. It has the ability to connect to a range of databases, cloud services, and on-premises systems. Before transferring data to other systems for analytics or reporting, we can utilize it to transform and clean the data.
SAP Datasphere is good for large volumes of data; small datasets get the stuff overcomplicated.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Previously, we were using Google Analytics on all our sites to visualize user analytics, behaviors, etc. But recently, we made the switch to SAP Datasphere, which is also a SaaS. As our organization was already using SAP BTP, we were able to make the switch to SAP Datasphere conveniently, which helped us in Data Discovery and distribution. This was particularly needed in our organization as we have a vast number of data-oriented platforms and have a huge number of clients using those. Hence, we started using SAP Datasphere for tracking, managing, and modeling those data across all our platforms.

Pros

Catalogs data across all our platforms into a single and centralised hub.
Data Discovery, Data Governance and of course real time visualisation of data.
Includes access controlled mechanism to monitor data reading privileges.

Cons

Need to have a good understanding of the SAP ecosystem to implement and use it.
From a cost perspective it can be little bit on the expensive side for enterprises.
The platform is still new and hence more subjected to bugs. But support for it is always good from the SAP team.

Likelihood to Recommend

The sites and platforms that we implemented already were using SAP BTP and SAP Ariba, and hence were well suited and habituated to the SAP ecosystem. Hence making the switch to SAP Datasphere along with SAP Cloud Analytics wasn't that difficult for our team and organisation. Just our team has more than 200 sites contained in 6 different platforms. Tracking, modeling, and analyzing data across all these different platforms was very cumbersome for us sometimes. But SAP Datasphere, with its Data Discovery, was able to centralize all those data which we were easily able to model and analyze.

With SAP Datasphere, I am able to reduce manual data modeling, integration and visualization procedures through automation.

Pros

Accelerated implementation by offering built-in services such as data lake and databases.
Unify data across multi-cloud and on-premise sources.
SAP Datasphere is allocates at a fair cost estimation compared to alternatives such as Amazon Redshift.
Accelerate time to value by reusing semantical definitions automatically.

Cons

Unfortunately, there’s no mobile application for SAP Datasphere.
The vendor offers free trial, but doesn’t offer freemium version.

Likelihood to Recommend

Based on my experience, SAP Datasphere best suit all business scenarios that encompass data. It has enabled me to automatically integrate, model and visualize data in real-time.

While managing the sales of our products with the customers available in all over India. Customer sitting in any corner of the country can buy the product by accessing through SAP. Not only sales but also after sales services like attending the customer compliant in terms of quality and quantity shall be taken care through SAP

Managing the warehouse property from intake of material to properly storing it and then dispatching it on time. It is very much user friendly and easy to understandable. Any updates also will not impact much in the operation. Good coordination with all the stack holders like Production, Finance, Quality and Marketing

The organization where I acted as a Project Management Intern, was a consulting firm and dealt with the initiation, planning, and procuring of raw materials for a solar power plant project in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, India. And there was a deficit in electricity generation in the state of Rajasthan. Sometimes, the solar plant was not able to provide sufficient electricity and a few times there was a surplus of electricity generation. To cover up the deficit efficiently and economically, and to run the solar power plant smoothly, our organization used SAP Data Warehouse Cloud. We had input all the data to the SAP software, starting from procurement of raw material to the required electricity generation by the solar power plant and hence we were able to cover the areas effectively and the wastage of electricity was minimized. A lot of problems we faced while running the solar power plant [were] solved by the use of SAP Data Warehouse Cloud.

Proper integration of input from different sources.

Proper analysis of all the data which [was] provided.

Cons

User interface of the software was average and needs improvement.
The software is a bit tough for new users. It would be better if the instructions in the software [were] clear and short.
The software lags a bit in low-end laptops. The software should be improved to run on a low-end pc.

The software is well suited in scenarios where there are a large number of stakeholders associated with a project and data comes from various sources. It can be used by large IT companies and startups. It can be used by consulting firms as well.

It is less appropriate for small projects taken up by freelancers or small companies with a lesser number of employees. Small projects can be done effectively without using [the] software. Apart from that, small companies cannot afford skilled employees to work on the software.

It has a user-friendly interface and integration with other modules that fulfill the business requirements for inventory planning and management. It is helping the organization to increase profits margins

Minimize copies of data by sharing one cloud-based data warehouse with built-in analytics.
Harmonize data with built-in data virtualization, replication, and pipelining.

Cons

The option package can be better structured with the price ratio.
Troubleshooting even if structured on an official website is always difficult for a new administrator in the Linux world.

A very modern and integrated platform in the world of commercial operations. It fits very well with our workflow scheme. Moving on to this solution has made inventory management much easier by facilitating the truck unloading process. It saves a lot of time in the inventory process and eliminates data synchronization problems between the mobile device portal and the system.

We use SAP Data warehouse Cloud in limited departments of our organization, which are directly involved with the information technology and telecommunications services like NPAG, RFP & RFO, Engineering operations and Finance & Inventory. SAP Data Warehouse Cloud is very important part of our organization for solving various business problems like securing most important organizational data storage in the cloud and abstracting analytics based reports for data and machines, software patching in the cloud on user base analytics and backing up of application residuals in cloud, and most importantly remote monitoring of security of cloud data and machine servers.

Pros

Smart cloud solution of data optimization and management.
Accurate analytic reports of the data and end user experiences.
Security and user base access authentication.

Cons

User interface and controls are bit complicated for entry level users.

It is good data warehousing service and still in initial phases of it's life span but during our use, we have seen significant and frequent improvements and updates for this tool and things look bright and prosperous in the future. It is very well recommended and appropriate for any businesses deals with frequently with IT and data management for implementing smart and efficient data solution in the organization.

SAP Data Warehouse Cloud was initially provided only to the IT section of the organization, but after seeing its importance and usability, its availability is now been expanded to most of core engineering and business-oriented departments in the company--PMO and deployment, RF optimization, finance, and RAN operations. We have implemented many functionalities of SAP Data Warehouse Cloud to achieve cloud-based end-user data analytics and formulate polished reports on the basis of dumped data in the cloud. By using SAP Data Warehouse Cloud, our organization has significantly increased the synchronization among the departments, which ultimately has increased the overall efficiency of the organization.
