Pros

Nice Graphics
Many Different Products - SAC, BOBJ HANA with AO

Cons

SAP has historically built products which are not easy to use
UI is lacking
I want it to be like an App on my phone and not take a manual to figure out

Business Need: Need for near real time data for analytics purposes to enable quicker decision making. How SAP Data Intelligence is used: Data Intelligence tool is used to source SAP transactional and other SAP data to our Data lake. Benefits by using SAP Data Intelligence tool; Potentially reduce the number of Data hops and Redundant effort with an efficient platform. Help reduce data latency for enabling near real-time analytics. Ensure the solution can support Agile DevOps framework to help improve the capability to provide the metadata to the global data catalog tools such as Collibra.

Pros

Low Code pipeline build
Replication of data from source systems to target
API capability

Cons

All environments are updated with latest notes and this impacts production systems without an opportunity to test our lower environments with new patches
Faced quite a few issues with SAP Data Intelligence connectivity to SAP ECC and a considerable set of notes applied to both SLT and ECC to fix the issues

Suited for transferring data from one system to another with low code.

I have not used the tool's AI/ML features, so unable to comment on it.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use SAP Data Intelligence to centralize all of our website/ecomm metrics and data. It is excellent for analyzing and creating dashboards for our BUs to digest and understand the data. The tight integration with the Office suite makes it possible to export dashboards to Powerpoint Presentation, as well as PDFs (which are especially useful for sharing date)

Pros

Integrates well with 3rd party tools
Allows direct manipulation of external databases
Allows synthesis and consolidation of data sources

Cons

The tool can become slow when dealing with large datasets
The tool can be overwhelming to learn because of its breadth of features and options
Pricing can be tricky for multiple licenses (at least for us)

Likelihood to Recommend

SAP Data Intelligence is excellent for sharing data visualizations and data 'stories' externally. Our BU (Business Units) love the visual clarity of the dashboards.

When datasets are extremely large, SAP Data Intelligence can still be used, but it should be noted that it can become very slow and more difficult to use.

Landscape Transformation from Oracle to SAP S/4 HANA.
SAP Migration Cockpit used for Data Migration.
Used Staging Table approach to Migrate the data and create the relevant data in the Target S/4 HANA System.
SAP Data Intelligence was used to bring data from the source system to SAP Migration Cockpit.
The data was extracted from the Oracle Database in the Source by creating SAP Data Intelligence Pipelines or Graphs and then updated in the Staging Table for the corresponding Migration Objects in the SAP Migration Cockpit.

Pros

Simplified design techniques available to create integration using pipelines.
Extensive possibilities of data integration by using various operators provided.
Data Lake provided, which can be a good option to be used as a staging area.

Cons

Link to ABAP system can be improved.
Debug option can be further simplified or made more user friendly.

We are going through the implementation of SAP in our company. We are part of a global company Sigma based in Mexico. Our Bar-S division is moving all our reporting over to SAP BW/BI and we are in the middle of going through reviewing what environment we want as we move to SAP as we are currently working with BW on-premises. We will move next year to S4/Hana and BW4/Hana. Currently, we are on BW on Hana. Hopping the new technology and new product helps us with efficiency and productivity in making well informed decision.

Pros

We are in the middle of assessing the product.

Cons

None at the moment.

We currently have a legacy reporting environment with lots of excel base reports. We would need to move over to new technology as we implement our SAP.

We used SAP Data Intelligence to build Intelligent Asset Maintenance solution. In this current pandemic situation , clients are more focusing towards contact-less manufacturing and maintenance. We built a solution to enable machine failure prediction , anomaly detection in machine performance to proactively maintain the machine. We utilize Data orchestration and machine learning component of SAP Data intelligence product to build this solution.

We are currently conducting a feasibility study to which extent DI is a candidate for a company wide data integration platform. The current focus is seamless and simple data source integration in SAP and non-SAP environments. After extraction relevant data is stored on a DI based data lake for consumption of analytics and reporting applications. Data lakes are kept up to date by real time delta updates from the sources.

Likelihood to Recommend

It draws its strength by being part of the SAP ecosystem. Easy integration with SAP sources of all kinds without a lot of custom development or the need for additional adapters. It has some room for improvement in case it’s used for data integration. While the procurement of data is quite extensive, the provision of data to consumers can still be improved.
