Excellent Learning Management Platform

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We have rebranded our Saba Cloud platform to be both our Learning Management System and our Performance Management System. We are using it for both career development and pay for performance. We have ties with both LinkedIn Learning and FranklinCovey which means that users of the platform have thousands of learning opportunities. And we have taken the competencies and accountabilities from our job descriptions and turned them into the skills for each employee for evaluation purposes.

Pros

  • Integrate with external learning providers.
  • Be responsive to customer suggestions.
  • Provide detailed learning opportunities for users and admins.

Cons

  • Limited flexibility in their programming can reduce UX enhancement options.
  • Probably could use a small company (under 150 employees) version that is streamlined.

Return on Investment

  • Monthly check-ins for supervisors and their staff were begun following implementation of Saba Cloud.
  • Skills assessment was made available. Previous skills assessments were not done at all.
  • Increased learning by staff compared to before system implementation.

Saba - Proof that a Complete Talent Management Solution can be Easy to Use

Pros

  • The user interface is much improved over any previous product they offer. Users find navigating the application seamless and effortless.
  • Saba's personnel, including support, is attentive, caring, and eager to help.
  • True SaaS, cloud-based model. Updates are frequent and constantly improving the product.

Cons

  • Saba continues to improve their reporting and analytics. While it is much improved over previous versions, it can be improved.
  • Release Notes for system updates need to be delivered to admins farther in advance of the update in order to prepare properly.

Return on Investment

  • Saba helps us educate our workforce and provide a platform for them to share ideas and knowledge. This helps reduce turnover and retain more effective employees.
  • In our retail environment, our front-line associates need access to information quickly. Saba is a place to find certified knowledge while on the job, providing a better experience for our customers.

Saba Cloud is Best in Class

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I've used Saba at 2 companies as an admin and 3 as a user. It allows us to do all the assigning, deploying, and tracking we need for learning from compliance to professional development. These past few years it has particularly assisted with On Demand and Virtual learning including continuing with many formerly in-person management development courses. We're looking to expand our use of skills and learning paths as well, which would otherwise not be possible.

Pros

  • Managing automated learning assignments
  • Analytics
  • Presenting learning in various modalities
  • Ease of updating materials in all formats

Cons

  • Continued improvement of admin interface
  • Reduction of steps to make changes to courses
  • Ease of setting up and maintaining Workspaces
  • Mobile app

Return on Investment

  • Compliance for Safety and Security
  • Visibility to upper management of training and development
  • Increased product knowledge to the field
  • Improvement of corporate culture and diversity

Saba Review

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Saba is being used throughout our entire organization. We utilize the Saba Learning module only and mainly use it for tracking purposes. Being new to this role, I am still getting used to our organization processes. I hope to soon be able to maximize the use of Saba and take advantage of all or most of the features the learning module has to offer.

Pros

  • Tracking.
  • Saba community is very helpful.
  • Testing abilities.

Cons

  • Making the system a little more user-friendly.
  • Background settings easier to understand and customize.

Return on Investment

  • The ability to track our learning assignments for each user is a huge benefit.
  • Providing employees a hub for active learning.
  • Ease of use for the end user.

Usability

SABA and the Non-Profit

Pros

  • Analytics is essential to meet compliance standaards
  • Creating learning paths, certifications and tracking certifications of a wide variety.
  • Communication with a diverse and large group of staff
  • Improves our overall connection with remote sites.

Cons

  • In the certification process, it only lets us do look back days it would be very beneficial to have a look backdate. Our services have a training year from July 1, thru June 30 and we assign training to services that are required by federal and state laws to be completed annually. During the pandemic we found a lot of staff taking jobs in other areas and still in their original position and then back again. If we assigned someone HIPAA training and they took this on July 4 and then in October went to a different service line the training plan would ask them to retake HIPAA. It would not pick up the one on July 3. That is the only real issue but it is a large one.

Return on Investment

  • This may seem small but with 90% of our workforce not at our main facility just the fact that since July 1, 2021, we have had over 18,956 compliance-related training completed by our staff. Do the math the ROI is wonderful.
