Recommendations
Users commonly recommend the following about Rubrik:
Consider Rubrik as an option for backup solutions and try a proof of concept (POC) to experience its benefits. Users suggest that Rubrik is a complete and secure data management solution that is highly recommended.
Use Rubrik for customers who require frequent snapshots and a lower recovery point objective (RPO) granularity for restore. Reviewers believe that Rubrik is well-suited for these customers.
Integrate Rubrik as a backup product with existing automation systems due to its full-featured API. This allows for seamless integration and automation of backup processes. Additionally, when considering the cost of Rubrik, users suggest looking at the overall return on investment (ROI).
Overall, users recommend not being afraid to try Rubrik, emphasizing its ease of use and time-saving capabilities. They view it as a great investment that will save headaches in the long run. It is also recommended to use Rubrik as part of a two-system backup strategy for data protection. Before making a decision, it is advised to conduct a true comparison of costs and understand the long-term costs of all solutions.
We use Rubrik as our backup solution. The ease of the use and knowing that Rubrik is a solid company gives us great peace of mind about the safety and reliability of our data. It is easily configurable and the immutability of the data gives us a solid handle of our data.
Pros
Backing up the data
allows control over that datda
security
Cons
The cost is high
Their helpdesk is sufficient but sometimes slow to respond
Right sizing may be off always go bigger
Likelihood to Recommend
It is great for backing up and storing data. With a less expensive platform they would attract more smaller companies.

Rubrik makes it easy with the daily and OnDemand backups. It allows us to restore files easily to multiple segmented parts of our network. Without the ease of Rubrik, our daily tasks would be much harder. Having multiple briks and multiple locations --- and the ability to connect to a NFS share has made the job so much easier. We love our safety net!
Pros
Daily backups
Segmented Networks
NFS shares
Cons
Nothing at this time.
Likelihood to Recommend
Nothing comes to mind.

Using Rubrik CDM and Polaris. We are also using Radar, Sonar and APPFLOWS. These extra applications come with the Enterprise license. Rubric CDM is an ideal product for protecting your multivendor virtual environment. Radar is great at identifying and preventing ransomware. Sonar addresses the sensitive data classification and security. APPFLOWS addresses the DR orchestration.
Pros
VMs backup
NAS shares backup
ransomeware detection, protection.
Sensitive data classified.
VMware DR orchestration.
Cons
SQL Server high transactions backup.
Rubrik SQL Server backup using Microsoft VSS, which is causing the the database issues and delays for the very high transaction rate.
better file filtering - file sets concept is not very intuitive.
Likelihood to Recommend
Good for the VMs backup. Improves the CIFS and NFS shares backups, as it’s not relying on NDMP. Great data protection from ransomware and classified data security.
Rubrik is being used as the underlying hyper-converged backup solution for a large scale service provider grade deployment.
Pros
Scales out linearly and predictably with no limitations.
Management of backups and policies are aligned with service provider requirements.
Support of application-aware backups increases exponentially.
Fantastic API for integrations with Dynamic Documentation (Swagger).
Support team is alert and proactive.
Very low administrative overhead.
Live mount is very fast and consistent.
Cons
Source remote clusters require static IP Addresses (destination pulls data as opposed to push).
Exchange DAG is not supported natively!
AWS integration is limited.
Likelihood to Recommend
Rubrik is very strong in traditional datacenter topologies due to its low rack footprint and very effective deduplication and compression technology. It may be less suited for SMB as there are software-defined solutions that have fewer dependencies and more flexible deployment architectures.

We ourselves use it for backup, and have multiple customers that use Rubrik Edges / nodes and we replicate the data from them. Replication is pretty easy to set up.
Pros
Comprehensive and easy to use
New customer setup. It's easy to set up backups and replication.
Cons
The v1 API should have more options
Reporting by SLA for remote sites
Likelihood to Recommend
It's great when setting up a virtualized server backup; unfortunately physical backup is lacking.
Rubrik is used for our enterprise systems providing protection for all of our internal systems. It provides protection and the ability to recover our systems in a DR scenario. It protects all of our VMWare, physical windows/Linux, AIX, and NAS shares. The product provides us the ability to instantly recover VMS reducing impact in scenarios when recovery is needed.
Pros
Easy to use and manage
Fast VM recovery times
Great technical support when issues arise
Cons
Pricing. Instead of sticking with an "all in one bundle", they recently have started putting prices on new features in the product. While some are understandable to add additional charges, expansion of the base functionality is not one of those that should require an additional cost
Global Pane of Glass for Management. Its available but does not yet give provide full multisite management (plus this is an additional cost)
Supportability of applications are limited but are growing. Its new so its understood but they seem to be pumping out new functionality with every release
Likelihood to Recommend
For most smaller to medium environments, it fits perfectly and provides a great solution for backup/recovery. It is easy to use/manage and reduces man-hours while improving protection. For larger environments, it will possibly be a hit or miss for a complete solution and provide closer to 80% coverage so two products would have to be run for backups and recovery.
Rubrik is helping us to drastically improve our backup strategy. The best feature of Rubrik is making the backup window invisible. This is great because in an international context like our, we do not see any maintenance window when operating around the clock. So Rubrik will decide when this is best to do start backup jobs based on its own analysis and the SLA that we impose on the system.
Another great advantage of using Rubrik is the massive savings in terms of storage. The file system is so advanced that savings are huge.
Pros
Storage savings using dedupe, compression and erasure coding
Define SLA to have backup jobs started, no time need to be defined
Scale out capabilities
Cons
10 GE is mandatory, I think in some environment 1 Gbps could be used
Entry ticket is high, but once you growth, it is reduced
Lack of end user laptop support (officially)
Likelihood to Recommend
Rubrik works very well in virtualized environments. They are starting to hit the physical world too. I have tested their connector on physical hosts and this is very promising. I'm actually looking forward to deploying such connectors on a larger laptop park. It would be nice to have the ability to backup endusers machine on-prem and get rid of Druva.

The bricks are used all across our 2 DCs, either for customers' environments and for internal purposes. Rubrik gave us a touchable advantage over competitors offering backup services to our customers, mainly because of fast restore. Furthermore, the high automation freed up human resources from building policies per single VM.
Pros
Restore. It mounts directly HD
Management: automates all the process
Boarding: once racked, the system scans the whole environment listing all the available VMs to back up
Cons
It's a valuable service, so it's not cheap. I can't say that it's a weak point, but it could retain many users from adopting it directly
Likelihood to Recommend
The best scenario is a 3-points back up, where a customer backs up on premises with his own brick, paired to a provider's brick where it's replicated, and from here, archived on an S3 bucket. Less appropriate is a small business, due to the costs involved. But for these cases, providers come in help, and Rubrik created a specific program with a pay per use plan.
