I have used Sitefinity on multiple projects that require more sophistication and the ability to scale with client's needs. We have used for a large equipment manufacturer/retailer to manage the company's external website as well as the company's Intranet. In addition, we have developed several custom applications in dot.net technology that have been integrated into these implementations. We have also synced with the company's Active Directory for single sign on/authentication as well as made customer inquiries from the external website flow directly into Microsoft Dynamics - the customer's CMS.
Pros
Scalable: As new needs arose we were able to manage and integrate/use Sitefinity.
Customization: It does take knowledgeable programmers, but you can customize quite a bit.
Flexibility: Allows for changes in site structure very easily.
Cons
Expensive. Sitefinity did away with their small business edition some time back and the time of this writing, it takes around $3,000 to get a license. That rules out Sitefinity for a lot of small to small-medium sized businesses.
Complex: You can do almost anything with it, but it will require knowledgeable programmers to make that happen.
Likelihood to Recommend
It's suited for bigger, more sophisticated projects that have adequate budget. It is not suited for smaller websites and projects as it is cost-prohibitive.
In 2012, I moved our organization from being reliant on outside vendor for all content additions/changes to using a content management system (CMS). Sitefinity was the best choice for our company because I wanted a CMS that was .NET based for integration with other Microsoft platforms, was a proprietary system for a predictable and stable platform, was inexpensive, and was easy to use.
Pros
Makes it easy for an administrator to assign roles for others in the organization to contribute content.
Easy for administrators to know when new content has been created and is ready to be reviewed and approved.
Its licensing model makes it very affordable for small and medium sized business to adopt the platform.
They continue to update the platform with new features
Cons
We have created a Chinese version of our site. I do not read or speak Chinese; however, I cannot create a role for one of our Chinese employees to be an administrator of the Chinese portion of our site. They must either be an Administrator for the entire site, or an editor for the entire. This creates additional effort / hassle for the team.
I have what I believe to be a simple question for the owners of Sitefinity. I wanted to see about using Sitefinity with AWS. Our web agency says that we cannot ask the owners a question, because they will only respond to an "issue". Because we cannot get an answer from Telerik, we are trying to figure this out on our own....and spending a lot of money along the way.
It is difficult to find one agency that understands both the front end design capabilities and the back-end technology capability of the platform.
Likelihood to Recommend
Ideal for companies who are a Microsoft shop, and are small to medium sized businesses. But if you want all kinds of cool design possibilities and you have your own web designer, you may be better off with an open source product like Joomla.
We use Sitefinity as an e-commerce platform for one of our brands. Planning to redesign and migrate our corporate site from Joomla to Sitefinity in the near future.
Sitefinity CMS is well built, easy to learn and work with, but it is short on features, especially for digital marketers. E-Commerce module is decent for small and medium size businesses, but it doesn't come across as an enterprise-level solution.
Pros
Content publishing, managing, versioning is easy.
Page/template design is very intuitive.
Digital Experience Cloud (DEC) is nice, but costly.
Cons
Short on features, especially for digital marketers. DEC is available for Online Marketing Edition and up only. (Did not buy DEC.)
Automatic content synchronization between Sitefinity environments/instances is unclear.
I wish Telerik continued to invest in Sitefinity's own e-commerce module instead of developing symbiotic relationship with ROC Commerce, which is a mess.
Likelihood to Recommend
Well suited for hosting small to medium size websites. Less suited for robust enterprise level e-commerce solutions.

[It's] Used to house our company's public facing websites. [It's] Used by marketing, IT and third-party vendors.
Pros
Robust.
Customizable.
Great developer tools.
Cons
Easier upgrade process.
More workflow capabilities.
More notification capabilities.
Ability to allow bulk document replaces without causing duplicates.
Likelihood to Recommend
Sitefinity can be used for nearly every use case. It's less effective with shared document management so it won't replace your internet's document libraries.

We use Sitefinity across our entire organization. We were seeking a .NET based Content Management System with active directory integration that was robust with template-based design and the ability to customize using .NET based widgets. We found that in Sitefinity in 2013 and have been using the platform since. The engine is fast and reliable and users can maintain content without concern about formatting issues.
Pros
Engine is fast and reliable
System is robust and flexible with .NET based widgets
Content editing is easy by anyone in the organization and templates are solidly built
Cons
We don't have much to add here. We are very happy customers of the Sitefinity platform.

For any Windows server based environment in which you need a robust CMS platform, Sitefinity is more than capable. Implementation is easy and content can be maintained easily by any level of user in the organization. We have found it reliable and always available, as well as flexible to add custom database-driven content.
We have choosen Sitefinity as the CMS for our new corporate website, in order to deliver all the 50 company websites.
Pros
Easy to customize
Easy to use for the not-IT-people
Cons
[I would like to see] A feature that allows to have already compiled the second language (on a multilanguage website) with the base-language website. So if I didn't already translate all the website, the content will be showed anyway (in the wrong language of course).

Progress Sitefinity is well suited in a scenario with a lot of CMS operators all around the world that need an easy tool to improve and keep updated their own company website.
Is less appropriate to manage an ecommerce [website].
We use Sitefinity to support the CRM requirements for our public facing website. This is administered by IT and used by marketing for day to day content management. Any customization is handled by the IT department at the request of marketing or other departments throughout the organization. We have used the product for over 5 years.
Pros
It is a product that supports a high degree of customization.
It provides a nice interface for content managers.
It supports users of various roles (admin, content authors, etc.).
Cons
The documentation has traditionally been very poor, especially in terms of customization support.
The load balancing features are spotty and unreliable.
The recent elimination of the Standard edition was disappointing.
Likelihood to Recommend
I think that Sitefinity is strong in that it allows users a good deal of customization to suit the product to their needs. One area that I feel it does not work as well is when it needs to be incorporated with another private website that is being hosted on the same domain. The login solution tends to become over complicated and difficult to deal with.

We use Sitefinity as the CMS for our corporate website. It has taken us to the next level compared to our former website in terms of functionality and creativity in sharing our service offerings to potential clients.
Pros
The drag and drop CMS is helpful for non-technical users of the admin
Widgets make it easy to add interest to the pages
It is easy to add SEO to each page
Cons
Some features like lists and content blocks are not intuitive on how to add to a page
Documentation is a little bit difficult to navigate through
No other issues
Likelihood to Recommend
It is well suited to manage the content on our corporate website and add in widgets such as rotating images and pull in our Twitter feed. I can't think of a scenario that it would not be appropriate.

Sitefinity is our CMS for our website and all of our affiliate websites. We wanted a platform that was easy to use, yet robust with analytics, customization and features. Sitefinity met our requirements.
Pros
Easy front-end customization
Feature-packed eCommerce module
Good support
Simple mobile optimization
Cons
Pricing structure
Make process to update software easier
Likelihood to Recommend
Sitefinity is great for most website applications, but I would specifically recommend it for eCommerce-type of sites.
We use Sitefinity as our sole CMS tool, to build and maintain websites in 11 different countries. We will be deploying another 9 sites by end of Q1, 2017. Our company had two different CMS systems and we wanted to cut costs and complexity, by supporting one CMS tool. We consolidated to Sitefinity. Additionally, the other CMS tool was not PCI compliant. By consolidating to Sitefinity we are now compliant.
Pros
Easy to implement other .net solutions into the platform.
Progress Sitefinity played well with the new responsive design we were implementing.
New page templates can be built and utilized very quickly.
Cons
We struggle with the technical support, and sometimes find that our knowledge of the product surpasses that of the technical support person on the phone.
We decided to use a third party search because the search engine in Sitefinity did not meet our needs.
At times we see latency issues with our sites. To date, we have not been able to isolate the cause.
We have not gotten site sync to work properly for us.
Likelihood to Recommend
Sitefinity is well suited for IT groups with .net experience. Additionally, the team building and maintaining the actual content should have a good knowledge of HTML. The WYSIWYG editor isn't the greatest, so if issues with pages occur, having a knowledge of HTLM comes in very handy.
