Planful is utilized by manufacturing organizations to gain enhanced financial visibility and operational control, moving beyond manual processes for critical budgeting and forecasting functions. In TrustRadius reviews, the platform is widely adopted for granular planning, including SKU and retailer levels, which is essential for managing complex production schedules and supply chain dynamics. It serves as a vital tool for reporting and analysis, consolidating data to provide a single source of truth, significantly improving upon previous spreadsheet-based methods. Its automation capabilities are valued for increasing efficiency in financial operations, allowing teams to focus on strategic analysis rather than data compilation.
The unified suite centralizes financial and operational data, enabling quicker analysis of KPIs and P&L statements crucial for agile decision-making amidst fluctuating material costs. However, some manufacturing reviewers, specifically 2 of 5, noted that the "Spotlight" module could benefit from a more intuitive interface, which is critical for rapid access to cost and performance metrics in this industry. Overall, reviewers report substantial gains in operational efficiency and financial clarity, supporting more precise production scheduling and raw material procurement.

Enhanced Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Improves data aggregation and timely information sharing across distributed plant networks and with operational business partners.
Cons
"Spotlight" Module Usability: The interface of the "Spotlight" analysis module could be more intuitive, potentially hindering rapid insight extraction for manufacturing finance and operations teams.

We used to report our financials through excel which was not ideal. This was a very manual process and we struggled a lot, Planful's first assist was to help us speed/streamline our financial reporting. Also, we utilized it during our budget season for next year. This helped us speed up our budget prep and presentation.

Cons

Planful has helped us with our financial reporting, we needed to have a software pulling directly from our ERP system (Plex) and this was able to do that. We also were able to use Planful for our 2025 Budget. Planful was able to pull actual expenses from our ERP system and we were able to set some of our expense lines with history

From a forecasting and budgeting standpoint, Planful is a top tiered software. It allows you to plan in a variety of ways, by giving you multiple tools in your toolbox. We use dynamic planning, structured planning, workforce planning, capital planning, as well as data loads to do a monthly rolling forecast. Each tool does a different job which is needed for different areas of planning. Data visualizations is one area where Planful is less well suited. If you are looking for data visualizations I would not recommend Planful.
We use Planful for management reports on sales and expenses. We also use it to budget/forecast P&Ls. The problem was that we didn't have a semi-automated solution for Budgeting and forecasting. Planful fixes that problem. Another issue we have is that we don't have a centralized database for data used in management reporting. We load into various statistical accounts for visibility and record-keeping as well.
Pros
Workforce Management.

MS Excel-Integration.
Cons
Charts and graphs.

Planful makes it very easy to roll forward forecasts and conduct scenario analyses. I'm also a big fan of their reporting and how easy it is to distribute a report burst to satisfy all the needs and questions of our SLT. Lastly, their latest developments in the AI space make it easy to quickly identify outlier projections.

There are innumerable different cuts of data that can be run to look at the business in different ways over different timeframes. The ability to look at forecasts together with historical data in a lot of different views (by department, by business unit or group, by account, etc.) is a game changer.
