I use PingPlotter to diagnose networks and identify communication issues. It's a great tool to locate patterns and issues and evaluate network health. In large scale deployments, pinpointing a point of fault in a large multi-layered network can be a nightmare and constant monitoring tools are not that easy to come by. Thankfully PingPlotter saved the day and allowed us to have a very good overview of what's happening with the time stamps and ultimately locate the issues and faults.
Pros
monitoring connection health
locating points of fault
monitoring performance patterns and degradation causes
Cons
information filtering. PingPlotter can take it a step further by providing summaries and outliers and detecting patterns
further diagnostics assistance, by detecting potential faults and suggesting the potential underlying issues
Likelihood to Recommend
It's a great tool to use in network diagnostics. provides great overviews of the network performance and health and enables you to conduct proper long term monitoring

Simple to setup, nice interface and works like a charm. Overall at great tool for diagnostics and baselining a network. Help with network diagnostics is a great add for any tool. Takes the mystery out of determining what the results mean. The baseline is critical to know when your network has changed and when that started.
Pros
Baselining
Diagnostics
Interface is simple
Cons
Alerting by SMS or Email
consolidation of other pingplotter instances for comparison
submission of results for assistance

Troubleshooting on multiple subnets at different locations allowed us to see which networks had issues while others were unaffected. Gave insight into when and what was happening Real Time!
Six months ago our home network started to become unreliable. Some days it was perfect, other days terrible. Unbundled internet means we were caught between the ISP and the network provider and each blamed the other. After changing tbe box (twice) I discovered PingPlotter and provided the data of pinging 8.8.8.8 and 1.1.1.1 compared to home network pings to my ISP and this convinced them to call the network provider. They did their own VDSL measurements and confirmed the problem was in the cable. After going down a manhole cover and (I imagine) stripping the end off the cable and re-connecting it the problems largely went away. But then we noticed that although the network speed tripled (!) the pings showed the network dropped badly every Sunday for three successive weeks. After TWO more visits from the network provider saying nothing was wrong the network 'miraculously' became perfect again, presumably because they checked the logs and discovered further problems. Thanks PingPlotter for providing the burden of proof we needed to get things fixed!
Pros
Easy to set up and use
Clear diagnostics
Ability to drill down into the information
Cons
Pricing free for personal use
Likelihood to Recommend
Helped me prove my local LAN was working correctly both to the ISP and network provider.
For some applications Wire shark will be more appropriate, and although it is more complex to use, it's full-featured version is completely FREE! But I also realize it takes time to develop and maintain applications

Great tool to fix latency issues. The UI is simple and very easy to use. It does not require deep technical knowledge to operate and provides very accurate reports.
The pricing, should you choose the subscribe or purchase the lifetime activation should be worth it for what it provides. Even the free version is more than enough to monitor the "current" status of your network.
Pros
Monitoring connection stability
Reports
Graph
Ease of use
Cons
Interface customizability
Likelihood to Recommend
This is probably one of the best connection monitoring tools out there and the best part is you don't have to pay for it to be useful. The free version is already enough most of the time.

We used PingPlotter Pro to help diagnose and resolve difficult-to-pinpoint network issues. Easy to stand up devices and ping locations side-by-side to see where the problem lies. Also, invaluable to present to ISPs to graphically show issues to assist in troubleshooting.
Pros
Detecting network latency
Pinpointing bottlenecks
Easy to use graphical interface
Cons
Nothing that I can think of
Likelihood to Recommend
The client reported network latency in the afternoon. We were able to obtain graphical info and present to the ISP that the issue was outside of the LAN.

I use PingPlotter to determine faulty communication links in a path. Problems like failure between a site and centralized services may appear and PingPlotter can help identify where efforts should be focused. The use case most recently is an authorization server intermittently times out. By connecting to the environment and running PingPlotter, the hops between the site and centralized services could run and help identify where the problem stems.
Pros
Provide Path discovery better than a simple traceroute
Identify latency
Provides historical information to identify potential issues overnight or several nights
Cons
The hops can be tricky when switches use themselves as the next hop. It would be an improvement if PingPlotter could discern if a "hop" was the same device and account for loss or latency. Currently, in this scenario, it shows latency on the device when truly non exists.
Likelihood to Recommend
The best scenario and best results are seen when the path does not reuse the same device for the "next hop". It is less well suited in situations where the path is being tricked by the re-use of devices for the next interface. This is seen required in many networks where the proper type of connection is not on an end device and the core device is used to provide a fiber to copper sort of "pass-through" connection.

To understand how to use this product to evaluate its ability to check for network performance and latencies. The charts and dashboards helps to provide a visual view of the pings and results and are very useful in updating the stakeholders' concerns and issues. Time and resources saved as a network engineer can easily remote in to check and update on the network at any time, compared to current where travel to the office is required.
Pros
dashboards and charts
indepth analysis of the health
baseline with industry standards
Cons
learning curve of product took some time
configurations to allow remote access can be improved
security measures for remote access ?
Likelihood to Recommend
The tool is useful and is a quick tool compared to proprietary network product tools. The remote login interface is simple and easy to navigate to find the tools needed. Charts helps with managing stakeholders and incident queries. Probably will still fall back to the network product tools when there is further investigations needed, but this tool helps to provide a quick look at the network and decide on the next steps.

PingPlotter is used in our networking and IT department and
it is great in the diagnosis of the cause of the network issues. It provides us
with the graph after testing the route. Initially, it was hard for us to look
for the cause of network problems but after getting PingPlotter we can monitor
internal network problems and it helps in reducing the duration of the
troubleshooting issues. It has been beneficial in saving our time.
Pros
It is good in identifying and detecting internal network issues.
It is helpful in decreasing the duration of troubleshooting.
Latency monitoring is another feature of this platform that makes it a great diagnostic tool.
Alerts feature.
Baseline threshold calculation is another plus of this tool.
Cons
In my opinion, there is a need for time to improve documentation.
The interface is dull and tricky.
Although I am satisfied with its reports my team is of the viewpoint that the post-project reports have room for improvement.

I am the kind of person who dots the I’s and crosses the t’s
and I was in search of a tool who would do the same and trust me it was so time
taking and hard to look for the network issues before PingPlotter but after it,
things have become quite great and I would recommend it to the companies in
search of a good and active diagnostic tool that would reduce the time of
troubleshooting as well and in such scenario, it is a most favorable one.
We currently use PingPlotter when we come across any network issues with anyone of our customers, and find it particularly useful when troubleshooting issues outside of the network perimeter. We have a team of twenty two technicians who will use this on any given day when working with customers or the dreaded ISP whom loves to point fingers at the local area network. PingPlotter allows us to definitively provide proof to the problem area in a matter of minutes, what used to take hours to accomplish.
Pros
pin points internal network issues
pin points external network issues
reduces time to troubleshoot problems
saves time and saves face when dealing with 3rd parties
Cons
post project reporting
retroactive reporting
Likelihood to Recommend
PingPlotter is a great tool for troubleshooting and my Techs love it, and we will use it when doing initial devices discoveries on new customers. PingPlotter has saved us time and money and has reduced the time it takes for the sale team to create proposals. PingPlotter allows us to create more accurate proposals based on the actual devices on a network.
