Oracle Business Intelligence Foundation Suite, which I will refer from hereon as OBIEE has been heavily used by my current company. We have been using OBIEE for a while but in a limited area. In 2015 thru the 1ADM project, JDE was implemented as an ERP system in ADM. Then OBIEE and its suite of products were chosen for the reporting, data and analytics portion. OBIEE is being used by the whole organization. Some are heavy users and others are moderate. Adhoc query, robust dashboards and enterprise-level reporting are some of the most used features in our company. OBIEE has helped us to solve many business issue and concerns but the main area where it brings value is in operation thru the timely supply of vital information.
Pros
OBIEE does the ad-hoc query very well. as long as the data is governed, the ad-hoc query is a robust and heavily used feature.
OBIEE has one of the best dashboard feature in enterprise level reporting.
It has a robust feature for the analytics and data analysis.
If scorecards are designed and implemented properly, OBIEE can become every department's go-to tool for reporting.
Cons
It is expensive to implement.
It is time consuming to implement.
The learning curve is not as flat as some of the other products in the market for general users.
Likelihood to Recommend
For a larger sized company that is very process-oriented, this tool can be a blessing. Governed data will give good results, otherwise, it can be a waste of time and money. Compared to the cost and time of implementation and training, participation and buy-in from all departments are important to see the ROI.

I used Oracle Business Intelligence Cloud Service both at P&G and at Whirlpool. At P&G: it started being a tool to track shipments related data from SAP. Then they started using to track POS data. It was being used by Supply Chain, Marketing, IT, Sales and Finance. At Whirlpool: They conglomerate most of their business data there from different sources. It's great because you can joint different databases in the same place and have an outcome table fast and easy.
Pros
1: Data Integration: I love that at Whirlpool we have several different databases in the same place and we can extract and combine data easily.
2: Connection with multiple systems: A lot of companies use Oracle Business Intelligence Cloud Service, so it means that they are seeing a lot of different use cases and improving the tool constantly.
3: Data extraction: Extracting data is much easier than writing a SQL code. So many different types of users can take advantage of that.
Cons
1: User-friendliness: As I said, you don't need to write a SQL code to extract data, but I've seen some other tools (the previous Oracle Cloud system for example) that were easier than this new one.
2: Speed: The tool is not slow, but when multiple users are trying to query information in the same database, it might get pretty slow. It's very common for people to run queries during the night since it's faster at that period once no one is using the tool
3: Data visualization: The main output is basically a table, if you want to get fancy graphs or other types of output, you might want to export it to Tableau/Power BI/Spotfire.
Likelihood to Recommend
Well suited: Perfect for organizations where they have multiple databases and they have to damp everything in a single tool. This is helpful not only to joint databases together (shipments with POS data for example) but also for employees to learn only ONE tool to get all the data they from different sources.
Less appropriate: If you need to go deep into analyzing the data beyond a table. The data visualization properties are pretty limited compared to Tableau/Power BI/Spotfire.
Oracle’s Business Intelligence Foundation Suite has a wide variety of features, some of which are indicated below. However, we want to note that Oracle is one of the few vendors that supports big data capability. Big data refers to a collection of large data sets that are complicated to analyze by traditional software. One of the benefits of Oracle’s Exalytics component is that it can analyze large sets of data in a short time.
Ad Hoc Analysis, Online Analytical Processing (OLAP), Predictive Analysis, Profit Analysis, Trend Indicators
Ad Hoc Reporting, Automatic Scheduled Reporting, and Customizable Dashboard
Pros
Ad Hoc Analysis
Online Analytical Processing (OLAP)
Automatic Scheduled Reporting
Profit Analysis
Cons
Trend Indicators

Office Integration – Office Integration allows users to merge their reports and analyses into their Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, etc.) and can even run analyses via Excel.
I've worked on Oracle BI reporting platform in one of my previous job. I find the tool to be less complicated as a project analyst. Also as a developer it is similar to other reporting tools from SAP and Microsoft.
Pros
Oracle BI Foundation Suite is a platform for business intelligence that does particularly well for formatted reporting, ad-hoc reporting and analysis.
Its core components such as OBIEE and Oracle Scorecard and Strategy management, also support Mobile.
Behind the scene XML script that can be handy sometimes besides SQL scripts.
Cons
The architecture of this tool is little complicated for a fresher to understand, since it has too many layers.
System requirements are too heavy. For a large enterprise the memory can be manageable but for small companies the cost of installing complete infrastructure would be a costly deal.
Likelihood to Recommend
I think Oracle BI Foundation Suite is well suited for sales reporting, ad-hoc reporting and scorecards.

It is attached as a reporting tool to our MRP software and it is being used across the whole company. Departments such as purchasing, finance, sales and manufacturing take advantage of the Oracle BI features on a daily or weekly basis. It helps us to create KPIs and sophisticated dashboards for real time visibility and to allow for making more intelligent business decisions. Remote users and traveling employees take advantage of the of the great reporting tools due to the mobile version of the Oracle BI software. Upper management makes important high level decisions based on the results of the reporting coming from this tool.
Pros
Easy to use
Improved Key Performance Indicators with the use of BI Suite
Support for intelligent dashboards creation
Real time data visibility
Mobile and offline features
Ad-hoc reporting
Clustering capable
Accurate and centralized reports
Cons
Heavy processes
Requires powerful machines and configuration for quick use
Relative big cost
Requires skillful database background users.
Room for improvement in the collaboration section
Integration with other software could be done easier; room for improvement
Likelihood to Recommend
Oracle BI Foundation Suite is a great tool for metric and modern reporting. It's easy to use and user friendly, and has excellent data consolidation features. It is well suited for a large number of transactions or records (likely big or medium sized companies). Based on the cost of the software I would not recommend it for a small database with a reduced number of transactions.

We use Oracle BI Foundation Suite enterprise wide across the organization. It serves as our primary reporting tool for corporate reporting and fulfills regional reporting needs.
Pros
Centralized Dashboards that answer key business questions regarding performance and need to knows. The tool is dynamic in that is can provide not only individual queries, but also enterprise wide dashboard reports.
Dynamic reporting for one to 1000s of users depending on the server infrastructure.
Javascript and SQL integration allow you to create customized reports to meet just what your users need.
Cons
The tool has a high learning curve and can take time to master.
The tool cannot uptake data in other formats easily. The data must be structured in specific tables and set up in the middle layer.
Due to the complexity of the tool, there can be bugs in the development that occur at random which can be difficult to trace to the tool or the environment.
Likelihood to Recommend
Well suited for a large scale enterprise need for reporting. Good security layers. Complex environment and likely requires multiple people involved in the implementation. Thoroughly examine your own companies BI needs before implementing as BI tools are not one size fits all. Ask about training and support options, the different layers of the tool (front end, middle ware and end user layer).
We primarily use Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition 11g - or OBIEE as we call it.
Here was the problem: When the executive team gathered to discuss revenue numbers, everyone had their own version. We were an organization of spreadsheets that were not shared and often compiled with unique methodologies. The goal of the OBIEE deployment was to elevate - and create - common metrics that everyone could see and trust.
We first implemented it to just provide executive level insight into revenue and product sales. However the power of the reporting and ability to create dynamic dashboards quickly moved it all through the organization and on every level. It is now used to track sales territory performance, lead management, complex project revenue, product sales and market segmentation for the CEO, VPs, Product Managers, Business Analysts, and individual sales team members.
Pros
Common dashboards that can contain very complex metrics. You can have a group of views and tables in different sections on the same page. Dashboards feature the ability to add tabs so you can display the information in multiple ways - but all with a common query or theme
The reporting can be interactive. The addition of filters and view selectors mean that multiple users can utilize and customize the information without having to provide separate reports.
The drill-in functionality is pretty robust and can be done on any element - individual field, table, or graph.
There are a wide range of graphs so you're not stuck with the same old thing - unless you want to, of course.
Cons
It's not very friendly for those of us that like to by-pass the fuzzy interface and just write sql queries.
It has the ability to do sub-queries, but the performance really slows down to the point where complex dashboards simply won't run. There is not a lot of help from Oracle to help optimize.
It isn't suitable for having multiple authors or developers because there isn't any version control - you don't know who changed what.
It doesn't have the capability to have custom dashboards by user. There is a way to save a view with all the filters set - but not to select the sections that they want to see.
Likelihood to Recommend
It is well-suited in a localized footprint but we had performance issues when deploying globally since not all IT infrastructure was the same for each branch. The dashboards need a lot of bandwidth to run and we've had a lot of problems with browser compatibility. The reports will run but may display incorrect information if there are problems with the browser.
