Pros

Useful Daily Quarantine List: The daily quarantine list emailed to users has proven to be a valuable tool for staying organized and ensuring the validity of suspicious emails, according to many reviewers. This feature helps users efficiently manage their email flow by providing a centralized location for reviewing and releasing potentially harmful messages. By allowing users to proactively verify the legitimacy of quarantined emails before release, it adds an extra layer of security to their communication workflow.

Multiple Email Filtering Options: Users appreciate the ability to filter emails in various ways, including by domain, email address, or text. This versatile filtering functionality enables users to easily sort and prioritize their incoming messages based on specific criteria. Whether they need to focus on certain senders or search for specific content within their inbox, this feature allows for efficient email management and quick access to relevant information.

Effective Link Protection: Users highly praise the inclusion of link protection as one of the newest options in AppRiver's services. With increasing concerns about phishing attacks and malicious links, this feature provides peace of mind by safeguarding users against potential threats. By scanning and analyzing URLs embedded in emails, it actively prevents users from accessing harmful websites that could compromise their security or privacy. This additional layer of protection is considered invaluable by reviewers who rely on AppRiver's services for secure communication.

AppRiver by Zix

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We reseller exchange email services from Microsoft through AppRiver. This includes domain emails, exchange, and 365 apps.

Pros

  • You can see all the customers when you login
  • The have a chat bot
  • You can pay with a check

Cons

  • They are extremely difficult to get a hold of for support
  • The product list is confusing, you have to know exactly what you are looking for
  • The sales department is not always available

Likelihood to Recommend

Recently: a new customer needed 15 addresses, including 365 and Exchange lite. I called Appriver to go over pricing - no response. I did chat with technical support who explained how to set up things but referred me to sales first. I've been waiting for sales to get back to me for over 2 weeks.

Since they changed to Zix, support is not as good as it once was, there are a lot of "we will get back to you" statements. But I always get an email to rate the technician, not the company.

AppRiver wins on support, affordability, efficiency, and speed

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

All employees at the company are using AppRiver, and a previous employee suggested it to us. Email threat prevention, secure file sharing, email encryption, and email archiving are all included in our subscription. On the compliance front, the addition of an alternate channel of business communication to the archiving contract has been huge assistance.

Pros

  • Adding and removing users from the database is a simple process.
  • The archive/filtering mechanism for reports, etc., is very reliable and does all we need it to.
  • Exceptional customer service – rapid response times, attentive and helpful support staff.

Cons

  • Updates, user license additions, and other modifications might be slow to take effect and prone to glitches.
  • Setup of a Microsoft 365 Tenant in an automated manner.
  • The user interface may be streamlined and made more user-friendly.

Likelihood to Recommend

AppRiver is the platform we use to manage all of our employees' email accounts. I'm the administrator and use AppRiver to handle all accounts. Aside from updating licenses, I've used AppRiver to introduce a new line of business by adding a new server/domain to our existing AppRiver package, which I do on a weekly basis.

Zix is being used across the whole organization and was recommended to us for use by a former employee. We are currently subscribed to email threat protection, secure file share, email encryption and archiving. We are in the process of adding an alternative method of business communication to the archiving contract which is very helpful and puts us at ease on the compliance front.

Pros

  • The user database is easily customizable to suit what we need
  • Keywords to detect what should be encrypted
  • Archiving system/filtering for reports, etc. is robust and practically functions to do all that we need

Cons

  • Customer Service--- specific to turn around when submitting a ticket
  • Perhaps more training for client use whether that be in person, video links, etc.

Likelihood to Recommend

Zix has so far been a great choice for our compliance needs. I have no complaints other than the turnaround time to get a ticket addressed.

AppRiver's support teams make all the difference--fast & reliable

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use AppRiver to support all employee user email accounts. I am the admin and manage all accounts through AppRiver. I typically use it weekly to add new users, remove users, update licenses, and most recently, to add a new line of business so we added another server/domain within our existing appriver package. The support team was extremely thorough and helpful - from step by step on appriver to Office 365. They walked me through the process and helped me implement new users in our new company as well as for distribution groups, members on lists, adding secondary email accounts to current profiles for my teams.

Pros

  • Customer support - very quick response times, very helpful, patient support team
  • Response follow-ups - they will walk through any support needs and follow up with a guide on how to that you can share for your teams to reference

Cons

  • User interface can be simplified and more user friendly.
  • When making updates, adding user licenses, making changes it can take a bit for them to work and can be glitchy.

Microsoft365 without the Microsoft365 headache

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We currently use AppRiver across our whole company as well as a dozen other brands we own and operate. We use it primarily for Office365 (Now Microsoft365) with our domains for hosted email, MS Teams, etc. Using AppRiver as our Microsoft365 provider has dramatically simplified management and love that fact that they offer support for all users. This has helped us to offload the amount of basic user support we have to offer to users of the applications.

Pros

  • User provisioning
  • End-user support
  • Simplified billing

Cons

  • Better technical support for Office365.
  • Having agents able to assist with Azure AD.
  • An automated way to sign up for and setup a Microsoft365 Tenant.

Likelihood to Recommend

AppRiver is great for both small and large organizations. Small businesses are unlikely to have much if any technical support staff available to them, for which AppRiver would be a great help. Likewise for large companies, having AppRiver can save your tech support team from dealing with basic, common, and repetitive application support, and allowing them to better focus on more important tasks at hand.

AppRiver provides our work email accounts. We have approximately 20 full-time employees and over 1200 Independent Contractors who use these email accounts.

Pros

  • Tech Support
  • Implementation

Cons

  • Technical Rep turnover: I've had 2 in the last 6 months and the last one is just temporary

Likelihood to Recommend

AppRiver is very responsive to our needs for technical support. It would be nice to have an account rep that stays with the company long enough for me to get to know them.

AppRiver + Office365 = Very Nice Fit

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

AppRiver is the business we use to utilize Office365. They are who we purchase our license from and they also provide our email virus and spam protection. It is used across the whole organization, which consists of 2 manufacturing plants-- one in Memphis TN and one in Olive Branch MS. AppRiver is intuitive and will add the appropriate licenses for Microsoft products that are assigned to our users, while at the same time removing a license if I unassign one. This makes license management a lot easier and ensures that we aren't paying for licenses that aren't being used.

Pros

  • Live Support. Their support techs have always been curious and professional. If you do have to leave a message they return your call and address your problem quickly.
  • Easy to understand English-speaking techs.
  • I feel like I get a good amount of service for what we are paying.

Cons

  • Really haven't had any cons. Being picky, I guess the web site is a little dark in color but like I said that is if you want to be picky.

Likelihood to Recommend

If you are looking for a spam filter or a way to easily manage your Office 365 license, I recommend taking a look at AppRiver.

Many positives, few downsides. Good ROI.

We use their SecureTide product to scan inbound and outbound email for SPAM email for all of our employees. The product works great and keeps SPAM (suspected and actual) from even reaching our facility. Customer support is top-notch. My Account Rep there really seems to understand my needs.

AppRiver is well suited for scanning email BEFORE it comes to your email server. They keep the spam out of your facility.
