My organization currently subscribes to a single-user license of [NetBase] Quid. I am the only user. In the past two years, I have applied [NetBase] Quid on a variety of tasks, including studying industrial landscapes, gathering solutions to given problems, identifying technology competitors, visualizing investment information, as well as searching for news articles on specific topics.
Pros
Quid helps me sift through the abundance of information, including news, blogs, product reviews, online forums, company websites, investment resesarch, market reports, patent databases and academic papers.
Quid takes care the routine and tedious tasks of content curation, surfaces trends and insights, and provides comprehensive and pertinent results for analysis.
Quid's support team was very responsive and helpful. I was able to learn Quid gradually on demand.
Cons
Quid's comprehensive capabilities and tool set was a little overwhelming to me initially.
It took some time before I was able to craft good searches, which were necessary for Quid to identify the right content for analysis.
Likelihood to Recommend
In my use of [NetBase] Quid, I found the tool particularly suitable for curating pertinent content. It allowed me to develop more comprehensive analysis at a larger scale, all while substantially reducing the amount of research time needed. It is also a plus that [NetBase] Quid is delivered as a web app. I did some of my [NetBase] Quid work on a low-end Chromebook without issues.
Netbase is like many of the social media intelligence platforms but it does a LOT of the work for you. While it does tend to be on the slow side and you must work within the constraints of a firehose at times, NetBase is very analyst-friendly. Me and other analysts enjoyed using the tool but I would not recommend this tool for anyone who is not familiar with social media platforms.
Pros
Social Media Intelligence
Social Media Competitor Monitoring
Social Media Montioring
Cons
Slow to Load
Hard to Understand
Firehose on Data
Likelihood to Recommend
Agencies with advanced research needs or with clients with competitors would enjoy using NetBase. I would not recommend this tool for those that only check social media data once in a while or do not care about the nitty gritty data. A trained analyst is necessary to understand what is coming out of the data.

It's being used by the whole department of marketing. And it's used to know what people say about promotion outputs, company behavior against issues, conference events, etc. It helps our company to know the volume of each topic, how positive / negative topics are, and to avoid being screwed by one strong opinion that someone posts. Also it helps to know how big a topic is by comparing size of topic volume with competitors'.
Pros
Speed of showing result
Easy understanding graphs on result
Wide coverage of websites and languages
Cons
Memorize previous view settings of result. Currently it resets each time I use it.
Likelihood to Recommend
It's suited for marketing research to hear what people think and say about products and services. And it's less appropriate for creating new technology or concept of product.
NetBase allows our team to take the guesswork out of social discovery to provide our clients with relevant, trending, and adaptive content solutions.
Pros
NetBase provides a highly accessible yet comprehensive dashboard for social discovery.
It also helps to tailor our findings to the most appropriate audience for our client.
The data driven insights derived from the NetBase platform lend a level of expertise and credibility that competitors do not generally possess.
Cons
The time lag on aggregating data can sometimes work against tight deadlines.
The analysis is sometimes vague requiring some degree of interpretation to find value in.
Sentiment analysis in particular can be difficult to deduct meaning from.
Likelihood to Recommend
NetBase is perfect for situations in which we need to reach a specific target audience with content that they will find relevant and timely around specific topics. To this end it's important that we enter criteria that will align topical analysis with our targeting, which sometimes requires thinking outside of the box upfront about the search terms and module selections.

Our digital marketing department uses NetBase to stay up to date on the social conversations taking place about our roster of artists. We use the platform to identify potential partners and influencers we can work with on future releases and campaigns. Our digital marketing department also creates easy to digest reports for the rest of our company, usually to give a good insight at the fan feedback on new radio singles, music videos and album releases.
Pros
Helps us to identify online partners and influencers who are already talking about our artists/music that we could potentially reach out to and work with on future campaigns.
Allows us to get a real time feel of how fans are responding to and talking about new music and videos from our artists on social media.
Enables us to quickly execute "deep dives" on who the audience is that is talking about specific artists, songs, or topics.
Cons
We currently utilize a visual data stream that displays real time conversations and sentiment about our artists on social media, but this stream does not always function 100% properly.
We occasionally have issues with the sentiment analysis, which we are working with NetBase to improve upon. Usually it is a result of song lyrics being used in posts that are flagged as negative, but in fact turn out to be positive.
This is not NetBase's fault, but a better look at Facebook conversations would be great, especially as Facebook expands on their publisher network.
Likelihood to Recommend
NetBase is great for getting a real time look at the conversation fans, brands, and online outlets are having about our artists, music and videos.

NetBase is used widely amongst the analysts, and is very resourceful for many day to day, and longer term strategic projects. I use to it both glean insight on a topic to prepare for new business pitches or help shape content strategy, as well as effectively monitor past or current campaign performance.
Pros
Trend analysis
Conversation Volume
One of the better sentiment analysis tools
Cons
Sentiment analysis could be improved if possible
Faster updates with firehose

How much real-time data do you need? How much data will you be scraping in - do you want accurate sentiment scores?
As a Sales Executives I use NetBase to learn about prospective buyers, i.e. their social standing, what the industry is reporting, who is communicating about both industry and prospect, and you can visually identify their positive/negative sentiments trends and the buzz that supports the trends. The results can then be used as door opening conversations for prospective clients of NetBase and it applies to all the other solutions SAP sells. With NetBase it is easy to get the data points and the visual represntation of the data also communicates very will in emails. Pictures say a thousand words so I don't have to. This marketing approach has opened conversations with C-Suite executives as well as LOB leaders including HR, Marketing, Finance, and IT. I consider NetBase my most valuable demand generation tool.
Pros
The NetBase user interface is very easy and promotes fast user adoption. The online tutorials helped me understand what to modify in my search criteria to quickly and accurately pinpoint relevant information. The web is huge and with good filtering you can get relevant content much faster when you understand how to filter in/out content.
The graphical representation of the data is outstanding and I like that I can self-maintain how the content is displayed. This includes timelines, colors, fonts, geographies, graph options and more.
The ability to identify a trend or an anomaly is valuable. For example if I am following an industry and a piece of legislation, or an event (be it natural or human created) impacts that industry the media will start reporting and the social world will start posting and NetBase displays the buzz as it is happening. As a result I can immediately use the information to further a conversation to further a sales opportunity. Who knows, I may have a solution that address a business problem which occurred as a result of the event.
The ability to save multiple searches/topics is a great way to monitor multiple areas of interest.
The out-of-the-box templates are great way to fast start your user experience!
Cons
How about an App for that. :-)
