Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We deployed Microsoft Windows to all our devices, laptops desktop and servers. The main business problem we solved is you need a device to do your work. Working without a device is almost impossible. So every employee uses a Windows laptop or desktop. Almost of application is webbased and almost always build for a Microsoft Windows device. Also to integrate Microsoft Windows we use other servers Microsoft services like Azure. Because Microsoft Windows is great to manage and use to use and widely used as a standard.

Pros

  • It's User friendly and easy to use
  • Its always up to date and well taken care of by Microsoft
  • Standard applications like Office 365 are well used by our users
  • As a system engineer its easy to manage

Cons

  • More video's of how to use the Office 365 suite like Excel, Word and Sharepoint
  • integrate Co-pilot needless with Microsoft Windows to help its users
  • Integrate other mobile devices that are not Microsoft with Microsoft Windows

Return on Investment

  • Increase in productivity, Windows is user friendly and easy to use. A lot of users have used it before so they need no extra training
  • The use of free application like Excel Word ect. Are cost reducing because you don’t have to buy third party software
  • To have a good function Windows environment you have to buy Azure and al that’s coming with it. Like Cloud engineers IT partners that do your managing of the servers.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Microsoft Windows is a must for every organization nowadays. It solves nearly all needs that a company may have, including user management, file sharing, file permission, remote desktop, if you have a pro or enterprise version, database, etc. We could say it's the only option we have that is user-friendly and widely known.

Pros

  • Ease of use.
  • Deployed everywhere.
  • Many resources available.

Cons

  • Pricing
  • Stability
  • Unwanted apps.
  • Advertising that you don't want embedded.

Return on Investment

  • Large product life.
  • 24/7 on servers.
  • As negative the updates time.

Dynamic OS for a Broad Range of Daily Functions.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Windows is an all-purpose operating system integral to daily tasks in my office. Dynamic applications, particularly Outlook and Excel, facilitate communication and data analysis in a convenient user interface with leading functionality. Excel enables first-rate financial management and data utilization, for which there is simply no replacement. The Outlook calendar could be improved, but overall, the app is essential for communication.

Pros

  • Email
  • Spreadsheets
  • Slides

Cons

  • Use between applications.
  • Excel ribbon.
  • Outlook calendar.

Return on Investment

  • Excel drives robust analysis.
  • Powerpoint provides practical presentations.
  • Outlook connects our firm internally and externally.

Microsoft Windows' utility is tied to its stranglehold on the market.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Microsoft Windows on our desktop machines, development workstations and servers. The software we sell requires windows 10 minimum, as well as Microsoft SQL server. All of our productivity applications are microsoft-based, and run on windows, including office, our trouble ticketing system, our accounting and sales tracking suites and the many small apps we use for development and testing.

Pros

  • It is very easy to use, can be picked up by a novice in minutes.
  • It is aesthetically pleasing, and appears clean and modern.
  • Most programs that people use in their day to day run on windows natively.

Cons

  • Resource usage is ridiculous, sitting at idle routinely half of my ram is consumed just by Windows and it's services.
  • Windows runs slowly, mostly because of it's overuse of resources.
  • Windows crashes more frequently than Linux or Mac OS.
  • Mostly because of its ubiquity, it is a big wide open target for hackers, scammers and malware writers.

Return on Investment

  • As a a windows-based app, with a windows-using customer base, working in the environment is extremely helpful.
  • Relatively easy to develop on, there is documentation and support widely available.
  • VERY wide hardware compatibility, any replacement parts we need for our machines are easy to use.
  • Windows updates frequently fail requiring our MSP or more often one of our customer support staff to intervene to get them running again.
  • Poor performance and inefficient resource utilization requires frequent upgrades.
  • Windows 10's service ending next year has required company-wide hardware upgrades due to the Windows 11's excessive requirements.

Microsoft Windows: Always around you in some form

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Microsoft is what we primarily use for our desktops and laptops. Microsoft Windows functions fairly well. Unfortunately, the issues arise after an update usually. Last week Microsoft released a broken update "KB5002653" that caused issues for us for a number of users regarding Excel Add-Ins. Microsoft released a fix for this about a week later. It seems that while Microsoft patches things very often, these patches can break certain things especially if your org uses very specific or customized software.

For this reason, it may be necessary to first apply patches to a sandbox environment in larger or more critical organizations that use specialized applications or functions.

Pros

  • Security Patch Frequency
  • Ease of use
  • Familiarity across the world
  • Compatibility with Applications

Cons

  • Better testing of patches before release
  • More control over settings in Windows 11
  • Allow for Uninstalling Updates in Windows 11

Return on Investment

  • Microsoft supports third party patching which can save hours instead of using Windows Update Servers
  • Microsoft provides an easy to learn interface for managing these (SCCM, Active Directory). This can save multiple hours instead of setting up each setting manually.
