We use Microsoft Power BI to analyse our hours for train crew. We have over 1000 train crew who are all on annualised contracts, we need to ensure all the staff are utilised and are using their hours efficiently. It gives us info to tell us where they are at any expected point. We need to understand where our overtime is being spent which in turns tells us where we have issues covering trains. We can then see if we need more staff in that area to cover the trains running, or is it sickness that is driving it or do we need more learning to ensure that route is covered. Train data from vogerplan is old fashioned, it comes in a csv file format and hard to understand by using the Microsoft Power BI report it gives it readable information. By combining multiple data sheets from excel this allows us to pull a useful Microsoft Power BI report which can be used for financial data and for the management team to you to make strategic decisions. It can be shared and viewed among the business and has helped massively to see the issues the business was experiencing. We can now make decisions and change things using the report, its visual and can be delved into if you need more information
Pros
Delving into info
Once built can be refreshed with new info
Looks attractive
Easy to read
Cons
More help building
Filters to be improved

Digging into vast amounts of data which can be unreadable and hard to understand. By bringing the data sources into Microsoft Power BI this allows users to see the info and easy to read what’s going on in the business in a graphical format. It’s used in board meetings where we can delve and get answers immediately without going to numerous data
We use Microsoft Power BI to consolidate data on a nice visual layout. We create reports for external and internal meetings and to help communication information to stockholders around the company. This platform is very helpful for monitoring critical APIs in order to track historical trends and to better our approach to improvements.
Pros
Allow for report customizations.
Visually clear report data.
Ability to create global reports that are commonly used.
Cons
Add support for more niche data sources and APIs within the system.
Optimize rendering of visuals for quicker load times.
Real time collaboration for editing reports would be nice as well.

I think that despite miner limitations the overall platform is very helpful and can provided the user with impactful visuals to explain the overall health of the company. The software also provides helpful customizations to better pull the desired information. I rated Microsoft Power BI as a 9 overall for recommendation to other companies.
We use it on a daily basis to track our numbers and review all of our data, we have dashboards and reports built for our internal users so that way they can see how they are performing by the hour, we also have our reports embedded into our own internal portal which is one of the awesome Microsoft Power BI capabilities.
Pros
StoryTelling
Report Development
Handling Complex calculations
Scalability
Cons
Speed
Report visual Sharpness similar to tableau
Fix Matrix totals

it is the best tool out there, the desktop version is free to use so you can use it in your own projects, it is also appropriate for very large organizations because it has elastic scalability plans, it also well suited for complex scenarios where you need to have everything in one place with the use of fabric. it is not suited if you have very basic reporting and not really large datasets.

Power BI is a very powerful data visualization tool (BIG DATA), with versions and add-ons in the cloud, server, desktop and smartphone, and free access. I have explored Power BI as part of an investigation to choose a platform that allows visualizations of data necessary for the executive reports of the company.
Pros
You do not need advanced knowledge to create your own dashboards and reports. Simply build, edit, publish and share to collaborate with whoever needs it.
Represent your data with amazing, animated infographics or if you prefer something more traditional, use the usual graphics, but with a more attractive presentation than usual.
It has native applications for mobile phones and tablets. Whether your operating system is iOS or Android.
Cons
One of the main limitations of the BI Power is that it does not have the capacity to publish reports with all the associated data. This means that some data may be left out of visualizations.
Likelihood to Recommend
It's simple, Power BI is suitable for an intermediate volume of data. I think it is designed for small and medium-sized organizations; for large data volumes, there are more functional solutions.
This is one of the products assessed in our needs to present financial reporting in a visualized way, and to enable self-service reporting for executives.
Pros
Top reason to use Power BI is its capability for "natural language query", where users simply type in words of a query to search real-time for financial data in either number format or in charts.
The second great feature is its monthly updates of 10+ new features, vs quarterly or semi-annual updates with a couple of features by other vendors.
The third great feature is its efforts to build in customized formulas (or DAX) for rookies.
Cons
Online sharing is a bit difficult for the freemium user who does not sign up for Azure paid accounts.
Monthly updated software installation voids prior month's installation - with the shortcut button pinned to the taskbar no longer working.
Likelihood to Recommend
Well suited for real-time financial report updating and self-service reporting. Needing improvements for easy sharing of dashboard reports.
