We use Microsoft Azure in lots of different ways, its a versatile product with a lot of different uses. We use it to host VM's, use Entra ID, host storage and as a back-up solution. It offers availability and redundancy without the need of investing in hardware ourselves. You pay for what you use and it's very flexible.

Even after obtaining the knowledge, some things are still hard to find

This includes app services, function apps, databases, blob storages etc. We also use Microsoft Azure for reporting, analytics and data warehousing. OpenAI services are utilized as well for our AI needs.

Running hybrid cloud solutions together with on-premise infrastructure is easy and supported. There typically is a service for most IT needs available. Works well together with Microsoft ecosystem - especially M365 environment or on-premise Microsoft products.
The pricing is sometimes quite high or you quicly run into situations where you would need to upgrade to more expensive paid plans. Thus, it is not suitable if you have many budget constraints.

We utilize Microsoft Azure for services such as Entra ID, Key Vaults, Blob Storage, and PIM. The need to redundantly host services across CSPs is alleviated by utilizing Microsoft Azure as one of our CSPs. Whether it be managing users and groups, or hosting publicly and privately available files using Blob Storage.

Pros

Key Vault - Simple to use and limit access
Entra ID - Quite possibly the best directory service to use due to its popularity and extensive documentation
Blob Storage - Simple and easy to configure and use to provide publicly available assets

Cons

PIM - This could use a touch up to allow for more granular customization without having to create custom roles.
Sentinel - A great SIEM product, but this also could use work, possibly with multiple baked in KSQL queries depending on the products you attach.
Support - Support needs vast improvement, especially with the ability for users to be able to submit support tickets as long as they have certain PIM roles assigned but not activated at the moment.

Likelihood to Recommend

If you need a bulletproof directory service, Entra ID is the way to go which is supported via Microsoft Azure. This allows you to easily handle users, groups, devices, and authentication such as SSO and user provisioning through SCIM. If you're looking to host virtual machines and manage networks, Microsoft Azure needs a lot of work to be as user friendly as other CSP providers such as AWS.

More than half of our servers are currently running in Microsoft Azure. This migration to Microsoft Azure has been carried out in phases. At present, our network is hybrid. In the near future, we are aiming to move all other servers that are still running on-premises to Microsoft Azure as well. We sometimes encounter certain problems with legacy applications. These applications are occasionally not entirely ready for a move to Microsoft Azure. However, we notice that these vendors are also quickly trying to offer the possibility to make this feasible, or they are modifying the application and making it web-based.

Microsoft Azure is highly scalable and flexible. You can quickly scale up or down additional resources and computing power.
You have no longer upfront investments for hardware. You only pay for the use of your computing power, storage space, or services.
The uptime that can be achieved and guaranteed is very important for our company. This includes the rapid maintenance for security updates that are mostly carried out by Microsoft.
The wide range of capabilities of services that are possible in Microsoft Azure. You can practically put or create anything in Microsoft Azure.

Cons

It requires knowledge of Microsoft Azure to set everything up properly once the environment becomes somewhat more complex.
Microsoft Azure is a fairly dynamic environment that is still changing at a rapid pace. In most cases, these are expansions or improvements to Microsoft Azure's capabilities. However, this means that you must constantly keep your Microsoft Azure knowledge up to date.
Microsoft Azure does not always offer functional support for migrating old legacy apps to the cloud. This is also related to the vendors of the legacy apps, but there is still potential room for a good solution.

Actually, migrating to Microsoft Azure is a good solution for almost any situation, especially when all components of your network are ready to become cloud-based. The only drawback I personally encounter frequently is that older software packages cannot always be easily picked up and moved to Microsoft Azure in an optimal manner.

Azure helps us to administer security in a centrally located single pane of glass within the confines of the Microsoft administrative portal.

I purchase and keep track of licenses for users. Create sharepoint sites, add and remove users etc. Microsoft Azure is easy to use once you start using it. The security aspect is also improved - making it easier to block sign-ins and more. MFA and policies have also improved, making it easier to manage end users and admins.

Azure Active Directory also helps them access internal resources like apps on your corporate intranet network, along with any cloud apps developed for your own organization.
