Melio is an online account app that is used by small and big businesses for a payment solution.
Melio is used by my company primarily for the management and processing of business payments to vendors and our service providers. We use it to schedule, send and track payments from our business bank account.
Melio has really come a long way to relieve our company of some manual duties. It made processing of payment easy and hassle free. The writing of checks, tracking due dates in spreadsheets and jumping between banking platforms and email communication has been tackled. We can now scheduled payments in advance, automate reminders and view payment history in one place. This has helped improve our cash flow management and reduced the chances of late payments.
One of the major problems Melio has solved for us [company] is the inefficiency in handling accounts payable and it has eliminated the need for physical paperwork, reduces the administrative burden and then increases the transparency in our finance operations. For example, adding team members with different roles and permissions is a valuable feature, you can add individuals payroll.
The scope of our use case involves paying, vendors, contractors and recurring bills.
Pros
The simplicity it adds to business payments is a great deal. One feature we really value it the ability to pay vendors by check. Melio prints and mails checks for us which saves time and hassle.
Payment scheduling tool is another thing we enjoy. This tool lets us plan ahead and manage cash flow more effectively by setting payment dates in advance.
Another thing Melio does well is the tracking of payment.
There was a time a vendor claimed that they hadn't been paid, but with just a few clicks we could see the check has already been delivered.
This kind of transparency gives us confident and keep things professional.
The integration with other platform or accounts like QuickBooks is an experience I did love to keep.
Cons
I don't think there is anything that doesn't have its Pros and Cons even we as human have pros and cons.
One thing is the delivery time for mailed checks can sometimes be slow or unpredictable.
Another area that should be improved is the notifications. The alerts for failed payments or delays are not always clear or timely.
We love to see more robust mobile functionality.

In my personal experiences, I would recommend Melio to a friend or colleague but would tell them the pros and the con.
Melio has really made payments seem seamless and easy.
The fact that one can plan his/her payment schedule in advance and at the same time track it, is a very big relief.
In as much as Melio has a lot of good features but it still needs upgrade or update, like the notifications of failed payments and delays.

Melio integrates well with Quickbooks and other accounting software. Overall Melio is user-friendly and very intuitive.

It works well if it can be integrated with your accounting software, otherwise there are a lot of manual steps. Passing on credit card transaction fees to your customers.
I've been using Melio for about a year and a half to send paper checks to vendors who don't support credit card processing or any online payment. I found Melio after frustrations with similar companies (Corpay, Plastiq) and so far so good! The workflow has been pretty seamless and I've been recommending them to other small businesses I know!
Pros
Easy interface
Reliable processing
Good customer service
Cons
Process of setting up new vendors could be improved
Likelihood to Recommend
Super helpful to run payments through credit cards and still have a paper check sent out.

I utilized Melio for contractor payments for business. I needed an integrated payment solution to work with my Quickbooks accounting system. I also did not want capture contractor and vendor private information as cyberthreats increase. Melio provided a platform to pay via ACH and by debit/credit card, which helps provide flexible options.
The ease of use, integration, and fee structure, are the key value points that lead me to using Melio. I recommend the solution to other small businesses that need speedy payment options that are secure and flexible.
Pros
Flexible contractor payment options
Easily integrate with other systems to prevent redundancy
Great Pricing structure that is clear and straightforward
Easy deployment
Cons
Melio seems to be for small to mid-sized businesses. I think the market for Melio is bigger.
More accounting integration points
More reporting and analytics tools

Melio allows you to quickly pay vendors/contractors without needing a ton of information. You can allow them to get paid in their preference, while controlling your form of payment (ACH, debit, or credit card). The network is solid and flexible to allow Melio users to pay vendors securely, quickly, and efficiently.
Melio has two main use cases for my our business. (1) getting paid, and (2) paying vendors. When client pay with Melio, we avoid paper checks and credit card fees, and have the option to allow our clients to pay for free, or with a credit card where they pick up payment fees. For paying vendors, there are a few big-name vendors that we pay that have exacting payment processes. Melio has helped us expedite payments to the them with same-day, low-fee options as well as free, bank-to-bank options, allowing us to avoid wire fees.
Pros
Same day payments
Low or no fees
Ability to let clients choose how they pay, and pick up payment fees on credit cards if they would like
Cons
Melio could improve integration with quickbooks

Hi highly recommend Melio. We've recommended it so many times, that we've set up a page for this https://kingcow.com/melio/ which, full disclosure, includes a referral link.
Paying bills -- and accounting for those payments -- is time-consuming and difficult for businesses with remote workers. We've advised a dozen clients to use Melio. Why? First, the CEO gets out of the weeds of bill payment and only needs to click one or two times to approve payments and schedule how they are made. Second, the bookkeeper gets all bills in a single electronic "in-basket" ... and most of the typing associated with "entering bills" is done by Melio. So our clients save time, their most valuable resource.
Additionally, at times cash may get tight. Melio allows our clients to pay bills using their credit cards (to buy a month) or to pay bills with longer financing. The process takes seconds vs. weeks with banks.
Finally, we've tested Melio against several competitors. Melio proved much easier to use with less restrictions.
Pros
Translate PDF bills to "entered bills."
Simplifies bill payment approval.
Provides "bridge financing" of bills.
Cons
Setting up new clients could be clearer.

Melio is particularly well suited for small businesses above $100K in revenue whose owners want to save time and simplify bill payments. It is helpful to bookkeepers so that they don't have to ask the owners, over and over again, "what was that check for?" and "can you send me the bill?"
I have used Melio for years as a freelance graphic designer and never had any issues. Free ACH transfers are amazing, and my clients can easily use the software to pay via ACH or credit card. I moved from using multiple payment platforms to just using Melio, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a way to get paid.
Pros
Free ACH transfers
Simple and effective interface makes it easy to use
Create your own invoice within Melio, or upload your own
Cons
Quicker payment processing
More invoice details for adding manually
Monthly reports/stats on income would be nice
Likelihood to Recommend
I'm a freelance graphic designer and Melio has been great for me to receive payments from my clients, I have recommended it to multiple other freelancers and people who own their own business. Payments do take a few days to come through sometimes, which isn't an issue for me, but for someone who needs a little more speed with the payments this platform may not be the best solution.
We switched our ACH payments to Melio 2 years ago. Using Melio has allowed us to eliminate virtually ALL of our check writing. It is fast, convenient, and no more trips to the post office or purchasing stamps. We used to write approximately 300-400 checks a year. Now, we do less than 10.
Pros
Fast
Easy site to navigate
Several payment options
Great app for on the go payments
Cons
I would like if Melio integrated with quickbooks desktop. Currently it is only QB online.
International wire transfers can sometimes be cumbersome
When searching for vendors, there are vendors listed that don’t pertain to my business
Likelihood to Recommend
Melio is well suited for sending ACH payments. Great for eliminating 99% of checks written, and once a vendor is set up, it is very easy to send new payments. The only function that they used to have but eliminated is we used to be able to send funds for immediate transfer using a debit card at no fee, but now there is a small fee for immediate transfers using a debit card.
I used Melio to set up one recurring rent payment for my company Diversity Crew. After the rent was no longer needed, I canceled the recurring payment, yet it continued to occur after the last rent payment on 08/01/22. I contacted Melio in August and September regarding this issue and they told me it was resolved- they even walked me through canceling the recurring payment again. Today 09/28 another rent payment for 10/01 was generated, even though my recurring payments were blank. I have little to no confidence in this software and asked that my account be deleted. I will not be using it to serve this company or other clients. Sad that it couldn't work for one simple recurring payment.
Cons
recurring payments
communication
customer service
Likelihood to Recommend
I don't recommend this for recurring payments.
