Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Hi, we are using ManageEninge OpManager for montoring around 30 network switches, two firewall cluster, in total 170 devices so far..

We are a production company and there is no place for network problems because we are producing 24/7.

So OpManager helped us a lot monitoring all our servers and critical network infrastructure.

Pros

Proactive network monitoring
Great response time
Great database of products supporting
Great notification system
Support is also awesome
Many other great things ;)

Cons

Updating OpManager is not the easiest
Some devices (for example flow monitoring and raid systems) are not supported or not implented

Likelihood to Recommend

So for companies with busines critical systems OpManager is a well known good product.

I think it does not make sense to implent OPManager in companies who all the data is in the cloud, OpManager makes a great on Premise monitoring solution possible, but I don't think cloud monitoring is a thing where OpManager is needed.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Network monitoring is the problem which ManageEngine OpManager has taken care.This is very good application for realtime monitoring. We appreciate the ability to automate certain troubleshooting tasks by creating workflows. It's a basic feature, but makes a big difference for us.

OpManager offers complete visibility across Network

Cons

Needs physical infrastructure to install the application which can be simplified using cloud.

Easy to use UI where normal engineer will handle,no special technical in-depth knowledge required.Report a problem or bug and wait for it to be resolved by another release.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We monitor our servers with ManageEngine OpManager. We check services, and disk space utilization, and make sure the RDP port is responding. When we do our monthly maintenance and restart all of the servers, a quick check-in ManageEngine OpManager verifies that everything rebooted successfully and all the processes started as expected. Saves a ton of time and keeps us from doing things manually.

Pros

We changed our RDP port to a non-standard port and monitor servers by that instead of a simple ping. Systems that are busted will still respond to pings.
The dashboard shows us any drives that are almost full. We check this when we do our monthly maintenance.
Monitoring Windows services and event log events and sending notifications when things don't behave as expected.

Cons

I genuinely don't have any negative feedback for the product.
I've used many competitor products and this one is my favorite.

Likelihood to Recommend

If you have a Windows server environment and want to be notified any time your servers are misbehaving then this product does it very well and is much more affordable than the competitors. Price aside, it is easy to use and not overly bloated. It does this thing very well without being complicated.

We use it to monitor our network & network equipment. It also provides us real time alerts based on our criteria so we know of an issue & have minimal downtime.

Pros

Dashboard that we can provide for the entire team.
Real time alerts.
Small footprint
Range of products it supports

Cons

Integration with other products from ManageEngine. e.g. Application manager - there is no seamless login. Downtime scheduling needs to be done on both products.
Vmware - There is option to monitor only physical CPUs. e.g. each node of our VMware host has 2 CPUs, which has 24 virtual CPUs. When we get high CPU alert we get 24 alerts for the same issue.
Banner ads - on the login screen & the product itself. Granted they're about ManageEngine but i would like the option to turn them off permanently.

It's simple to setup, easy to use. Integrated into our environment fairly well.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use ManageEngine OpManager to monitor all of our VMs, switches, and access points. It helps us by notifying us if a particular VM has gone down in real-time or if it just needs some maintenance. It also warns if the memory of a particular VM is starting to get low, so it in a way helps to prevent serious downtime and avoids disruption in the business.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

ManageEngine OpManager is used to monitor critical servers and the services they run. We have it trigger notifications, both email, and SMS, to various members in the IT department in order to get ahead of any potential downtime that the supported users may have.

Pros

Monitor servers that go down.
Monitor critical services.
Email and SMS notifications.

Cons

User interface takes some time to get used to.
Setting up the login credential for various devices.
Removing known unused devices.

Likelihood to Recommend

Since we mainly use OpManager as a server notification application, I can only recommend it for that feature. It does this very well. It does appear to get confused in the rare instances the internal IPs are changed or the server's name is changed, which seems to require a refresh in the notification section of the application.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use ManageEngine OpManager to give me a top-down view of traffic usage throughout my organization and by location. The centralized console and being able to track the source and destination of traffic is indispensable.

Pros

Central Console for top-down view.
Custom alerts to alert me of high-traffic usage.
Custom reports for management.

Cons

The interface can be complicated for novice users.
Updates are continually released, lots of downtime to upgrade.
Occasionally product MIBs are not available.

Likelihood to Recommend

If you find that instant alerts, bandwidth usage per port and connections, custom reports and central console monitoring are of use then this is the product you need for network monitoring. OpManager is a tool that gives you great monitoring and is simple to setup, gives you great options for workflow or custom monitors.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I used to use SolarWinds products for years but it got to be too expensive for renewals and too complicated to setup and configure. I made the switch to ManageEngine OpManager years ago and never looked back. I am always able to get all of the server and network monitoring configured in less than an hour with ManageEngine without having to reach out to any sort of support. Patching/updating OpManager is also a lot simpler than SolarWinds. It does a lot of stuff for the price but ManageEngine is starting to get bad about breaking out some of the monitoring features and charging for them as add-ons. Overall a great product that I would recommend to anyone!

Pros

Does great with real-time server monitoring using ping/WMI.
Great for viewing switch port status in real time.
Gives you an overall dashboard for your network and server stuff in one place.

Cons

It would be good if they would update more often. Upgrade history seems to be slowing on new versions/features the last couple of years.

Likelihood to Recommend

This product is definitely suited for small to medium-sized businesses. Not sure how well the software would run in large environments (300+ servers).
