Pros
Easy-to-use Platform: Users have found LumApps to be a simple and easy-to-navigate platform for using Google for their business. They appreciate that it makes tasks easy to comprehend and collaborate on for their employees.
Integration with Google Workspace: The integration with Google Workspace, particularly Google Drive, is highly valued by users. They find it fast and easy to deploy and appreciate the search engine's capability to support multiple languages, which is especially beneficial for large companies.
Strong Page Design Capabilities: Users praise LumApps for its strong page design capabilities and the ability to create content templates for specific teams and make them private. They also highlight the flexibility in design and style, as well as the support for communities, which makes it easy for interest groups to consolidate information in a centralized space.
We use LumApps as our intranet to communicate and share news on a global scale and for resources to all team members.
LumApps has a ton of great abilities, however is limited in the organization on the back end from an administrator perspective and lacks in its ability to do more customization outside of platform CSS coding. Unfortunately, those who lack HTML/CSS coding experience will find this a bit elementary.
Pros
Customization of colors
User creativity relatively wide
Capability with Google Suite
Cons
Ability to write in PX spacing parameters
for those just starting in basic HTML coding, provide a general library of codes
Create pages that display capabilities and steps how to achieve those same results based on the product

The comparability and integrations across major platforms such as Google, Microsoft, Slack, and others is a tremendous asset and they continue to implement new tools regularly.

LumApps serves a dual function at Instructure, both as the intranet and an internal revenue enablement knowledge base to support our global sales and customer success teams.
Pros
Customizable widgets
Metadata to customize the user experience for a global workforce
Intuitive design
Cons
I would like to see a widget that can be embedded on a page to have users acknowledge proprietary information before the content on that page becomes visible.

LumApps is THE employee experience platform! With its customizable meta-data, I was able to create over 700 pieces of content to deploy a regionalized user experience for our global sales and customer success teams. No longer were employees inundated with content that did not apply to their region or market. With LumApps’ best in class functionality, the integrations that our organization uses, such as Google and Slack were easily integrated within LumApps to create a seamless user experience for a global audience.
In my company, we use LumApps as our intranet. It allows employees to find key information, newsletters, and articles posted in relation to the company and its employees.
Pros
It offers user-friendly navigation.
User management is simple once setup correctly.
It offers many different options for creating posts and articles.
Cons
Search functionality is lacking for groups.
If you Copy and Paste from other sources, it often leads to undesired results.
Likelihood to Recommend
Well suited: For communicating and archiving important articles and events regarding your company and employees. Directing employees to your intranet to allow them to find the answer they are looking for will encourage the use of the intranet. Less well suited: Not as well suited for communicating emergency or time-sensitive events regarding your company or employees. Employees may miss or not check the intranet as often as perceived without direction and could miss these events.

We had multiple data sources and a variety of data living in each system, due to this issue, users were unable to easily find information about teams/depts/new projects. With LumApps, were able to give each team a dedicated page so users could find additional information on the team and their initiatives.
Pros
Widgets are easy to use
easy to mange users/permission with the use of labels and groups
ability to create sub pages allows for scalability
Cons
Widgets not are users friendly or easy to use. They work, but you have to know what you are doing
Integration with IDP i.e Okta can be improved. There are some missing features like pulling Profile pictures
We are unable to resize users profile pics
Likelihood to Recommend
LumApps is well suited for a team that's dedicated to working on the platform and maintaining it. If a normal user needs to create pages/content there is a steep learning curve. It should be easier to customize the pages but you have to really know proper HTML to have the page display properly i.e sizing widgets and banners.

LumApps acts as our company's intranet, pulling together our policies, careers and promotions, org structure, personnel directory, and upcoming event information. The platform is the authoritative source for all information employees need to perform their daily tasks. It integrates tightly with our Microsoft Suite of tools such as Teams and Stream. This integration is an essential component that enables content creators to pull together critical information from various sources and bundle it into a single resource.
Pros
Automating the seeding of content throughout the site via content widgets and metadata
Flexible page layout options that enable templated pages but allow authors to customize them
Easy application of styles that conform to the firm look and feel standards
Cons
Management of data-intensive content- LumApps had partnered with AwesomeTable but that company was unable to provide ongoing services to our firm. LumApps should consider developing at least some of those native capabilities.
Styles are not customizable- things like cell padding cannot be altered for specific instances.
We've had to develop workarounds due to poor search results for specific portions of content (used a content list and filter but results, while better, still not optimal).
Support- help documentation on LumApps is poor and outdated and our support package is limited- which means we must figure things out for ourselves or give up.
Likelihood to Recommend
LumApps is great for general text and image-based content, and better now for video. What I've found lacking though, is support for tabular data and for filtering that data. I have a data-intensive project and was pleased with how I was able to use AwesomeTable to filter that data based on specific criteria but that third-party vendor was unable to provide ongoing support to the project through licensing to our firm and unwilling to undergo security testing and screening by us prior to licensing.
I assist clients with onboarding LumApps into their organization. LumApps provides organizations with a hub of relevant data, along with a chance to create 2-way dialogue. When organizations are looking to boost collaboration, gather the voice of the team in a constant way, and provide streamlined processes to find key information, LumApps can help!
Pros
Communities to invite open conversation within affinity groups
Searching news archives is fast and easy
New hire onboarding data hub to reduce silos and uncover key starting data
Cons
CSS is not recommended for use, but certain features like a button to jump back to the top of the page are missing unless you hack a workaround
The mobile app experience is a separate build from the desktop version, which requires content creators to apply extra effort to the design process
Pages load slowly if certain widgets are used
Likelihood to Recommend
LumApps works well with a dedicated owner plus a few dedicated news authors. As with any intranet, keeping content fresh and relevant is key, so we always encourage having the right human support to match the technology investment. They constantly update their technology, so it will take a few dedicated individuals to stay up on monitoring the new releases to be sure you make the most of your purchase. LumApps can be pricey for small organizations compared to a few other services on the market today. Clients need to consider if they need all of the features that LumApps offers, as there can be upcharges for things like their video service.

As a community strategist, I work with many enterprise organizations to help them build meaningful employee experiences. The LumApps community experience platform is extraordinary for its design flexibility and its depth of integration with both Office 365 and Google Suite of productivity tools. In addition, it is a powerful way to enable employees to connect and learn from one another, improve productivity, increase morale, and foster retention in the workplace. In addition, I've had the opportunity to work directly with members of the LumApps team for two large-scale enterprise implementations and find them to be knowledgeable and easy to work with.
Pros
Integrates productivity apps
Flexible UI design
Communities
Cons
I don't have any immediate feature requests to add
Likelihood to Recommend
Empowering groups around the topic of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is a great use case for LumApps, but that is only one of many potential ways an enterprise organization could utilize the platform to improve the employee experience.
In my workplace, we use LumApps as our company intranet. Which helps us to communicate with the wider company. Allowing employees to search for and find information such as recent company news, articles, other employees' contact details, job positions, recent and upcoming training, and the team-managed pages that may be relevant to them.
Pros
Visually looks great
Gives lots of options for page design
Makes it easy to manage users and access
Cons
The search functionality for groups is not there
Likelihood to Recommend
Very suited to be used as a company intranet. As far as not appropriate I'm not sure as we do not use it for anything else.

We are using Lumapps to help us solve a decade problem around knowledge management & internal communications. It's working as our intranet and we are using it in many ways, such as the main portal for internal comms, the source of truth for policies and other types of content that supports our operation, a well-curated knowledge base, the main place for communities of practices, among others.
Pros
Support for communities
Seamless integration with Google Workspace
Permission control in different levels
Cons
Content creation could be easier
Notifications by email could be customized with company's brand
Likelihood to Recommend
LumApps is an amazing tool to support internal communications in an effective way. The community feature that Lumapps offers is also great to foster social interaction and collaboration, especially during times when physical offices are becoming much less important for most companies. Also, the integration with Google Workspaces makes the experience much more fluid for our employees and the Google Cloud Search experience brings considerable value. On the admin side, we appreciate the permission control that allows us to set up different levels of access, making it easier to avoid mistakes, like people editing someone else's content accidentally. On the other hand, we can see room for improvements on the content creation experience, especially when considering knowledge base content where collaboration is key. We see LumApps efforts in this direction, but we still miss some level of simplicity on the experience as a whole.

LumApps is our company-wide intranet platform. All employees have access to the intranet upon joining the company. LumApps provides a repository of Division, Department, Team, Project, and Informational pages (think websites), for our employees. This helps create a centralized location for employees to come to when seeking internal focused information.
Pros
LumApps has strong page design capabilities.
LumApps Communities make it easy for interest groups to consolidate information in a centralized space.
LumApps has very good Google integrations.
Certain features on the back-end admin are very good. Like you can easily manage Roles to provide different levels of capabilities to certain users. You can also easily make content templates for specific teams and make them private to that particular team.
Cons
If you aren't using communities, the aspect of "Following" pages is more of a workaround than a fully baked feature.
Users are unable to "Follow" other users and elect to get notified when those users create content. Many employees have asked for the ability to receive notifications for any peer, manager, or Executive staff member they choose to follow, and there is not currently a way to enable this.
Communities are great for quick simple posts, but the editor lacks rich capabilities. For instance, you can't save drafts and copying and pasting removes all formatting. This means you must create your content in the LumApps editor all in one attempt.
There are some limitations for system administrators on the backend. For example, I can't natively bulk edit content in the back end of the system. I also can't reorganize our metadata hierarchy or even alphabetize our metadata. I have to open a ticket with the vendor for that.
It can be very slow. Although they are working on that.
Search could be improved.

+LumApps is a good tool if you are looking to create places for top-down communication. If you only have a select number of users who are posting regularly, you can set up pages to highlight that specific content, and even push notifications to distribution lists. -However, if you enable everyone at the company to create content, it can become unwieldily. Depending on what editor type you use, permissions are more of an "All or nothing," unless you hide features with CSS. +This platform is also solid if your company heavily utilizes Google suite. You can build the integrations directly into pages and templates. -LumApps is not a wiki.
