Kid and Teacher Friendly

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Lalilo to help my students practice and learn the skills they are struggling with. I am the dyslexia specialist and Title 1 Reading teacher for my district, so I work mostly with students who are struggling with phonics and phonemic awareness skills. Lalilo helps reinforce skills that my students seem to have a hard time grasping.

Pros

  • Lalilo follows a progression allowing my students to show success by beginning with skills they know and progressing at their pace to learn and practice new concepts.
  • Lalilo allows me to see the skills my students have mastered and which skills they still need help with.

Cons

  • I like the progression that the students go through in order to practice concepts they are struggling with, but I wish they had videos or some way other way for the students to practice other than just asking questions.

Return on Investment

  • I don't have the complete version. I love how much I can do with the free version. My students love learning through Lalilo.
  • I use this product periodically instead of daily or weekly. It is a great resource for my students, especially one who is in second grade and cannot even name all of the letters. He worked with Lalilo while I still was able to work with him and I could see him gaining knowledge as he was completing the activities. At first, he doesn't understand the concept being taught. It only takes a couple of minutes for him to learn the concept and pass the level to progress to the next.

I use Lalilo as a supplement and intervention for my 2nd grade students. I have had a great experience using Lalilo. My students are very engaged and it provides another mode to practice phonics and reading. I like that it provides each student with their own path of learning, so they are practicing exactly what they need.

Pros

  • Easy to use for teachers and students.
  • Provides an independent path of learning for each student.
  • Teachers can also assign specific assignments as needed.

Cons

  • I have not had any difficulties with Lalilo.

Kids love Lalilo!

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Lalilo as an extra boost of practice for my students who are learning to read. I teach special education, so all of my students have some kind of disability. Lalilo evens out the playing field for my students, who are all able to increase their reading abilities using it. Every student I introduce to Lalilo loves it! I am able to use Lalilo practice as a reward for my students when they finish the regular work in our classroom.

Pros

  • Lalilo allows each student to be placed at the exactly right level for their skills.
  • Lalilo makes learning to read fun by using badges that students earn for each skill.
  • Lalilo gives students the ability to request easier or harder lessons based on their current skills.

Cons

  • For my lower students, it would be nice to have more practice in alphabetical skills before moving on to reading.
  • Sometimes the sound glitches out and we have to restart the lesson.

Most Important Features

  • Ease of use
  • Leveling for students
  • Feedback so I can see the exact skills my students are working on

Return on Investment

  • For a student who only knew 18 alphabet letters when beginning Lalilo, the student has increased overall performance to recognizing 80% of the "ut" family of words.
  • Students in grades 3 and 5 are increasing their reading levels from K and 1 to the end of year 2.
