As a freelancer, Keyshot is used in order to quickly see texture and render 3D models for the purpose of visual direction and concept art. It's a simple interface and ability to make quick texture and light changes on 3D models makes for a faster pipeline when working on a project.
Pros
Keyshot has a simple and intuitive interface that makes it easy to use for quick renderings.
Through Keyshot's viewport, you can see real-time changes when replacing or adding textures to a 3D model.
The new Keyshot 8 comes with volumetric features such as fog that can add depth to your image making process without having to manually do it later in another program.
Cons
Keyshot is very expensive compared to other software that could potentially do the same thing at a fraction of the cost.
Keyshot does not rely on GPU rendering so relying on a fast CPU is key.
You are not able to modify geometry like a standard 3D software.
Likelihood to Recommend
Keyshot is great for quick renders and its ability to make changes for a fast production pipeline. Since I primarily use it for concept art and making environments, it is not the best when handling larger scenes as it will take a toll on the CPU.
