Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Our IT department uses SolarWinds ipMonitor for full network visibility. It allows us to keep tabs on the performance of our network devices and applications. We can configure alerts through various types of notifications to determine when issues arise.

Pros

Automatic discovery of devices.
There is no need to install agents.
Good visibility of issues through maps and metrics on a dashboard.

Cons

Revamped UI.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use ipMonitor to manage our monitoring of software and hardware resources network-wide.

Pros

ipMonitor is well suited to use SNMP sources to monitor up states and usage such as network interfaces
ipMonitor does a great job of measuring bandwidth usage and delivering a long term 'picture' of usage
ipMonitor has an exceptional interface that is easy to use and simple to navigate

Cons

ipMonitor network maps could be simpler to manage and have more options for device representation

If you are looking for a way to 'set it & forget it' with regards to network hardware and software, ipMonitor is for you. It's a perfect mechanism for monitoring usage and up states network-wide.
