InterSystems IRIS is used to support the medical industry, everything from medical history to paying information is stored using IRIS database, this makes it easy to access and update the information

it is an excellent tool, it helps us with everything we need, the integrations with our client are very transparent and reliable. With the support of InterSystems, today we can integrate and connect our client to different sources, we connect it with services, applications, among others, we use IRIS as a control bus, which brings us all the confidence and security in the data we travel.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We implement healthcare integration at NHS trusts across the UK providing solutions both within the IRIS program and inc conjunction with it. The majority of work ensures data integrity and interoperability across different systems within the trusts, but more intricate solutions can be implemented depending on the trusts requests. Such solutions include custom business components and code in the TIE and database management with a database outside of IRIS.

Pros

It is Scalable.
It is Lightweight.
It is easy to maintain.
It has excellent access for developers.

Cons

Presentation, the interface looks outdated.
Accessibility to non-developers.

Likelihood to Recommend

It is an excellent platform if there are many interfaces that need implmentation such as in large hospitals, as it provides a clear way of viewing an managing all said interfaces.

However on a smaller scale the price is too much and consideration of a scalable price model may aid int IRIS's adoption at smaller businesses.

Helps us to keep the transition simple from our existing InterSystems Cache based databases.

Definitely has better performance in some of the areas as well as has adjusted a lot with the changing needs of the current industry.

I found InterSystems IRIS is one of the best [tools] for data management in an organization. Easy to use interface and provides high performance for managing data. You can easily execute database operations very quickly and reliably. It is easy to integrate with [another system] for providing [large-scale] deployment to the customers.

It is best suited in the scenario where a single interface is required for providing [a complete end-to-end] solution to the customers. You don't need [a] separate platform to write code or [perform] database operations. All you need is InterSystems IRIS software and you are done. You can also use analytics functionality which is one of the greatest [features] which many customers need for their solution[.]

We [have worked] with InterSystems [IRIS], since IRIS [was] released. We [have] done tests with our internal applications and started to implement upgrades to clients in Brazil. We like a lot of this tool because we have a great usage of Iris with new technologies, like SAAS on AWS, docker,etc.

In Healthshare, it is the best implement as possible, but [InterSystems IRIS] works will all type of applications, even as [an] integration tool. We have clients with all types of implementations, like commercial applications, sales systems, even an inventory control. For [InterSystems] IRIS, there is no specific scenarios to work with, they work fine in all.

The InterSystems IRIS is used across the whole organization, all the company's work revolves around at the InterSystems IRIS. The problems at the company is about corrections and the support system, and not only that is also supported on systemns that use InterSystems IRIS as support.

Pros

Intersystems Iris has all the healthcare interoperability Standards included and it's very easy to develop.
There are some nice features on top on the old monolith that are really great, as docker support. Intersystems seems to be very proud about the product, they are doing a lot of pushing and promotion.

Cons

If you need a quick install and deployment, needs docker, and this tech is not available in all customers.
The only thing is that the documentation is a little bit weak but you have the Intersystems Community to get questions answered
They could improve the usability of the administration portal

Likelihood to Recommend

High speed in processing large amounts of data, for sure is the best benefit I have found. In addition to making available a large documentation that can support its use. Problems with CSP Gateway is a great scenario to work with InterSystems IRIS. When you need a backend that needs to be able to handle Big Data, this is your system to choose.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

In my company, we are using Intersystems IRIS as integration platform, usign HL7 message from laboratories and process them in a unique point to process all of them. Each laboratories connect with his reports of patients, and integrate within the insurance database. I don't need an extra application to operate. I can integrate a new laboratory in few minutes. Also, we use IRIS as REST API server to connect to insurance information (patient, reports, etc..) and it adds an extra security for confidential data.

Pros

Quick integration with HL7.
Provides a robust platform for API REST.
Quick access for database.
High security, integrate OAuth, internal user and password access, etc.

Cons

Complex language to develop.
Needs a special staff to manage as administrator.
A lot of security via roles that is could be a bit complex.

Likelihood to Recommend

Well suited

All about integration, HL7 or FHIR. Don't need to develop extra code because the most used is integrated and is very easy to use.

Less appropriate

Use as html server and display pages. The pages code is very complex, if you want to use to display html pages or create a web application, it's better to use other language (such as Angular) and try to integrate the code.
