A bit buggy but definitely worth using simply because of the time it saves managing eBay

Pros

  • inkFrog handles product variants really well. Their platform pulls the SKUs and information directly from BigCommerce and then lets me easily customize each variant with different pictures which is really helpful.
  • It also makes adding multiple listings very easy. Since it imports the item specifics and description directly from BigCommerce I don't have to go through each listing one by one and I can just bulk upload our products onto eBay.
  • inkFrog also lets me set different templates for shipping, or profiles from different items and then I can apply those in bulk to items which saves a huge amount of time since I don't have to go through every item and change specifics.

Cons

  • inkFrog can be a little buggy, however. Sometimes orders will not import into BigCommerce correctly and only show up in our BigCommerce store as a customer called 'Not Available' with no shipping or contact information. This is not common but it does happen enough to be a bit of an annoyance.
  • We would like to see the ability to offer the 'make an offer' functionality on items with variants. Currently, if it is an item that we want to use the 'make an offer' functionality we have to create a separate listing for each variant of that product.
  • Sometimes the customer service is a bit lacking. It is only done through email and you end up just getting a lot of automated responses. It would be really nice to talk to an actual person to describe issues as they can somewhat complex.

Return on Investment

  • Overall inkFrog has had a positive impact. It has really freed up huge amounts of time that would be normally spent manually managing eBay listings one by one.
  • It also has had a very positive impact by using the inventory management which again frees up huge amounts of time since I don't have to go through and manually manage all of our listings. We also do not oversell items anymore which is a giant plus.
  • inkFrog's template customization has also really really helped by making our listings much more aesthetically pleasing and more professional looking which builds a lot of trust with our eBay customers.

Inkfrog - great eBay upload tool but not without issues

Pros

  • Flexibility - there are a huge number of options for how to design your eBay store and display, price, list and sell your items on eBay. If you like having options for every eventuality, then Inkfrog is good with that! However, for us this is a double-edged sword - more about this on the next question.
  • Inkfrog sits within the admin area of my website, I like not having to leave my website to attend to eBay. And although it doesn't at all feel like it's part of my website, and ultimately I would have preferred a direct integration, this is a good next-best option.
  • Fabulous bulk upload options - you really can upload ALL of your inventory to eBay with just a few clicks. Such a time saver.
  • Good price point.

Cons

  • inkFrog is confusing. From its interface to the huge number of options, it is all too much. Then again, eBay is confusing, so not exactly inkFrog's fault here, but there are too many options, too many settings, and in the end you just want to switch off.
  • It can be prone to technical blips. For example: there have been a number times when orders and stock levels have not synced and eBay orders have not been pushed to our website dashboard; we added a number of new products but the amount of stock that appeared on Inkfrog was different to what was available on our website; some listings on eBay were ended recently for "stock quantity changing on the website" (it didn't).
  • You need to continue to watch your eBay shop like a hawk to ensure you don't miss any orders and stock levels remain correct.
  • Not all of the events above have come with much explanation so communications perhaps could be improved.

Return on Investment

  • inkFrog allowed us to list a huge amount of stock (but not all) to eBay relatively quickly thus increasing revenue significantly.
  • Having a larger range of items on eBay has introduced our brand to new customers who then return to buy from us directly.
  • However, inkFrog is time consuming to set up and run. You still need to control your eBay orders. This takes time out of your day.
  • A couple of technical issues we experienced caused lost orders, significant inconvenience, and a bit of footwork to repair damaged customer relations. Luckily these events were infrequent.

InkFrog a great tool for a company expanding their eBay store

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

InkFrog is used by all of our small staff of marketing and IT personnel. The business problem it addresses is an inventory management/ order tracking/ and scheduling system for eBay, one of the online marketplaces we sell on. Ebay used to have a tool called turbolister that accomplished all of this, but this was discontinued a few years ago, and thankfully we discovered inkFrog, which does what turbolister did and more.

Pros

  • InkFrog allows us to see the total number of products we have uploaded as listings on eBay, something that is surprisingly hard to find on eBay itself.
  • InkFrog allows us to easily schedule when an item goes live on eBay, via auctiono or a permanent listing.
  • InkFrog allows us to keep track of our inventory and how many times we have sold on eBay as well.
  • It's very easy to navigate.

Cons

  • The pre-built themes are really bad. Thankfully we don't have to use them and created our own.
  • The other issue regarding these themes is that they are locked behind a paywall and are a premium feature; subpar themes should not be charged to consumers.
  • InkFrog also connects with other marketplaces that we also sell on, such as Amazon. Unfortunately, it does not work as well with other marketplaces as it does with eBay, which is a shame since we would prefer to have it all in one place.

Return on Investment

  • InkFrog had a positive effect on our management of eBay, which was a large hassle to deal with via just their eBay store.
  • InkFrog also gave us a good ROI in terms of its pricing structure, which is very affordable
  • InkFrog has given us the freedom that comes with scheduling listings for future dates. That way we don't have to be glued to eBay all day.
