A simple, friendly infographic creator you can get started with right away
Use Cases and Deployment Scope
Part of what I do is train NGOs, non-profits, civil society, and media organizations on working with, visualizing, and presenting their data to raise awareness or improve their marketing. I demo and help them use a variety of data visualization software and Infogram is almost always the most popular due to its ease of use for non-technical people. As a freelance graphic designer, I have also personally used it to create graphics for clients.
Pros
- Intuitive, friendly interface that is actually fun to work with and makes data visualization less intimidating. Easy for non-technical people to master
- A wide variety of visualizations, charts, and graphic elements that continues to grow
- Great compatibility. Easy to integrate with webpages, social media marketing, etc. and mobile-friendly
- Saves a lot of time. You can have a professional-looking infographic or chart pretty quickly that is ready to share or embed.
Cons
- If you want to create a very complex visualization this probably isn't for you, but this isn't really what Infogram is made for.
- If you want to create a very customized design there are some limitations, you can't add any custom CSS, etc. Again, Infogram isn't really made for this.
- You have to be online to use it.
- You can't download your charts to use elsewhere (eg. add to a printed annual report) unless you have a Pro, Business, or Enterprise account.
Likelihood to Recommend
Infogram is perfect for creating engaging and professional-looking infographics, data visualizations, and social media content with no technical knowledge required. I have worked with NGOs with no technical or design staff that need to get their message out there or raise awareness about something. Infogram is easy and quick to use and the results look great. Infogram is not heavyweight data visualization software, it's best for summarizing and explaining the results of data analysis to an audience or breaking down complex concepts to make them understandable to the general public.
