IBM Cloud Object Storage Today

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I recommend IBM Cloud Object Storage to my clients who are looking for a safe, secure and efficient resource to move unused data from the mainframe to the cloud.

Pros

  • gives companies the best of both worlds with reliability and mainframe support
  • Allows for data to be recalled once moved to cloud
  • Becomes a natural extension of the mainframe

Cons

  • Performance and latency
  • Data governance

Likelihood to Recommend

Hospitals may need to hold onto the medical records of patients that have passed. Instead of clogging up your tape storage, the cloud gives an option to keep data, but hold space for it in another area, with option to recall if needed.

IBM Cloud Object Storage is an amazing tool for backups, cloud migrations, and data retention

IBM Cloud Object Storage provides basic storage functionality at the best cost performance

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We used IBM Cloud Object Storage to store all of the data from the actual production, including videos, images, and various types of sensing data from equipment in the actual factory in Thailand. We deployed over 100 cameras and sensors in the factory, storing the data in IBM Cloud Object Storage via the internet, and allowing the results to be retrieved and accessed from anywhere in the world. The biggest challenge is how to create a scalable system at a reasonable cost, since the data volume will be small in the initial stage and we know that the data volume will continue to increase every month. in the end, the data volume was about 150TB, but the cost did not hit our business operations.

Pros

  • cost performance
  • simple and easy to use
  • secure as usual

Cons

  • It would be useful if the data hierarchy could be made a little deeper.
  • performance of data deletion
  • undo or cancelation for data deletion

Likelihood to Recommend

As far as I can tell, it has better cost performance than any other cloud. This is a particularly promising service candidate for actual data accumulation, which requires the continuous retention of large amounts of data. Another attractive feature is that it can be used without using other services to guarantee security and performance.

  • It's durable

Cons

  • The documentation around creating instances could be better
  • It might not be easy for a novice to get their head around
  • Navigation could be better
  • I'm sad that the Watson API demo is no longer available

Likelihood to Recommend

In my experience, IBM Cloud Object Storage is well suited for projects like the one I am working on. This includes the use of natural language classification and the uploading of data to train a machine learning model for tag suggestions based on a body of text. Using IBM Cloud Object Storage has helped with this greatly. IBM Cloud Object Storage has also been great for Big Data Analytics thanks to its scalablilty and ease of use for large datasets. Alongside IBM Watson and our team's internal big data tools we've managed to process and analyze data more efficiently, leading to key insights that have driven business value for our clients.

IBM Cloud Object Storage - A Review

Rating: 8 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I am using IBM Cloud Object Storage in my organization for data archiving and backup. The product has been great for addressing our business problem of managing large amounts of data in a cost-effective and secure manner. The scalability of the service has been particularly impressive, as we have been able to easily adjust our storage needs as our business has grown. The user interface is easy to navigate and the integration with other IBM Cloud services has been seamless. We have also been impressed with the level of customer support provided by IBM. One of the key features we use is the data archiving feature, which has been a huge benefit for us as we needed to store large amounts of data that we don't need to access frequently, but still need to keep it available in case of an audit or legal request. The scope of our use case has been primarily for data archiving and backup, but I can see how it could be used for other purposes such as large-scale data analytics. Overall, we are very satisfied with IBM Cloud Object Storage and would highly recommend it to other organizations.

Pros

  • Data Archiving
  • Cloud Content Distribution
  • Backup and Disaster Recovery
  • Large-scale Data Analytics

Cons

  • Limited File Management Features
  • Limited Third-Party Integrations
  • Limited data deduplication

Likelihood to Recommend

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

The IBM Cloud Object Storage allows me to scale the services I provide into the cloud. The cloud has allowed me to secure my data by managing certain permissions to ensure that my data is managed in a need-to-know zero-trust environment, but it also allows me to conveniently share my data and services with those I want to send them to.

Pros

  • IBM's cloud dedicated hosting is particularly important for total isolation.
  • The VPN allows me to have maximum flexibility.
  • It improves the performance of my websites.
  • It is very cost effective and we pay only for what we need or more.

Cons

  • The IBM cloud object storage is very network based that it cannot achieve performance like hardware.
  • Extra space do cost more when you do become ready for that expansion.
  • Pulling big project data across cloud platforms slows performance.

Likelihood to Recommend

IBM's cloud object storage is very well-suited to be a database for big projects in big organizations. Important documents, files, images, or anything the organization needs to move to either make space or organize. The IBM cloud object storage is also well suited for this use, for it is very secure. The organization can rest assured that its data and files are safe within the IBM Cloud object storage.

I construct and deploy my solutions with IBM Cloud Object Storage. It is a great privilege of mine to play a role in IBM's ecosystem as a partner and business associate of the company. My IBM business is fully digitalized, and I provide my services via the cloud because of the company's innovative usage of hybrid infrastructures. IBM Cloud Object Storage is must try product

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

1. We use it to store the data in different buckets and retrieve it on demand and update it.
2. External APIs put the data and keep watching for the bucket's contents if they have populated/created/ updated and remain in that state for some steady state.
3. Certain APIs upload the data into buckets which get utilized by third-party APIs.

Pros

  • Atomicity
  • Consistency
  • Ease of handling data

Cons

  • Refresh token implementation
  • Bulk delete
  • Bulk update using regex

Likelihood to Recommend

Well suited: Atomicity is the best place. Until the file is fully uploaded, it does not show up, which reduces the chance of reading it by accident which results in partial data being uploaded.
Less Appropriate: Does not support regex.
