IBM API Connect the obvious choice

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use IBM API Connect very extensively in our organisation, with huge success. Since starting with IBM API Connect in 2017, a lot of business clusters got on board, hosting their API's on IBM API Connect. We primarily run a provider model approach, we have a Centre of Excellence set up, and we do a review of all API's to conform to the bank's standards. The tool set is mature, easy to use and manage, good choice for any company to get to the next level. This is surely the way to go to enable your business clusters to reach that competitive level in a sometimes challenging business environment.

  • Easy to manage
  • Solid Security
  • Adabrability

Cons

  • Toolset can be somewhat cumbersome

Return on Investment

Managing APIs Made Simple with IBM API Connect

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use IBM API Connect for full lifecycle API management—from design to deployment and deprecation. We expose a large number of APIs to multiple vendors and manage them all easily through the portal and it also helps in monitoring access and automating the configuration process of new APIs.

Pros

  • i love the security features and features like rate limiting and throttling
  • the best thing I like is that it's very easy to configure and manage access for specific products at individual and group levels
  • the UI of the developer and admin portal is good for managing and viewing the available products

Cons

  • with this layer of APIC configuration, it adds a bit more delay
  • the platform is very slow if I import the API and try to view or edit it in the API editor
  • customer support is not very efficient

Return on Investment

  • it helped improve our productivity
  • it made managing and analyzing APIs much smoother
