I used to use Google Chat for friends/colleagues communication, not within the organization but for using it with outside people. It is really easy to use, you only need a google account, can use gifs, send a good amount of text and we can use it from the phone also.
Pros
Communication
Easy to use
Up to date status
Cons
Time response of messages sent
Large files attachment

It is a easy and quick way to chat and send instant message using the Google account, even send files, emojis, create groups. I have used it to communicate even with external people with a personal gmail account and is great to stay in touch with all around. I recommend it for anyone who wants to stay communicated using a google account.

Google Chat is an innovative messaging tool that allows users to connect both directly and in groups.
At [...], Google Chat fosters seamless communication and collaboration across teams. As a Business Analyst working in a fast-paced enivornment, I have to rely on Google Chat for instant messaging and group conversations to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams. We use it everyday to maintain a steady flow of updates, so that all departments stay aligned without the need for meetings.
Since our team member includes remote employees, Google Chat helps ensure that everyone remains connected, regardless of location.
Pros
When discussing about a specific project, I can quickly share google docs or sheets within the chat which helps my team to view the document in real time and they do not have to leave the conversation.
Scheduling a meeting with someone is very easy on Google Chat.
We have remote team members in different time zones and instead of waiting for emails we use Google Chat to quickly discuss anything.
Cons
Google Chat should bring more AI options.
Even with good internet speed sometimes Google Chat is really slow.
When sharing large videos with the team, we often run into the 200MB file limit. We then have to upload the file to Google Drive and then share a link.I wish the file size limit could be increased from 200MB to 1GB.

When we brainstorm new ideas for a product feature, Google Chat provides a quick and easy place to exchange ideas.
When managing long-term projects like new brand onboarding, where it's essential to track deadlines, we have to use dedicated project management tools like Monday.com . Google Chat is really helpful for quick discussions but it doesn’t have the features to handle complex projects. For assigning tasks, setting due dates, and monitoring progress, we have rely on tools like Monday.com .
We are using Google Chat for day-to-day collaboration within the team. It fulfills our needs for fast communication. Within a Google Suite, Google Chat is not bad. However, if you ever used Slack - Google Chat would be not nice for you at first glance I believe. Mainly because of the missing functionality compared to Slack: e.g., missing automation and bots in my experience, markdown is not fully supported in my experience, creation of the spaces, low/missing integration with other apps (e.g., GitLab) in my experience. However for simple communication - it's not bad. To sum up, Google Chat is ok, if you need to communicate, however loses to Slack in diversity of automation, integration and IMHO usability in my opinion.
Pros
Communication between users
GIFs & emojis
Creating tasks from messages and putting those in Calendar
Cons
More versatile markdown (e.g., adding 2 levels of points, code snippets etc.)
Provide automations and writing bots (same as on Slack)
Improve threads (they are not prominent and easy to lose sight of)

If the company is IT comoany and has Google Suite license and wants to spare money on communication tool -> then Google Chat is a really good choice. For non-IT companies, Google Suite can be also suitable option. In all other cases - if the company has at least 3+ IT teams/departments, then it's better to use Slack in my opinion.
Google hangout is used across the whole organization, it is very easy to install and use. I personally like the hangout, during this pandemic situation hangout has helped a lot in connecting your peers, and sharing things. Groups can be formed very easily which is not available in other applications. I would say if It's one of the best features of Google
Pros
Easy to use and connect with Peers
Sharing the Files
Quality of the Product
Cons
Quality of the Video can be improved
Screen sharing can be better
Voice quality cab be improved

Google Hangout has helped us during these difficulties a lot, important is to have a connection without any trouble and this application has helped a lot, especially when you have to connect with your peers globally. You are just one click away from your peer to connect with them where ever they are.
We use Hangouts' chat as an enterprise instant messaging platform in the same way other businesses might use Discord or Slack. We have been in the Google ecosystem for years now since the days of Google Talk and we've moved along with its instant messaging products and now we're on chat.
Pros
Free to use
Tight Google integration
Minimal setup required
Cons
Instant video call function has been removed.
User interface is a bit cluttered.
Likelihood to Recommend
If your organization is invested in G-suite then the tight integration with G-suite makes it a no-brainer. For organizations invested in other software platforms, however, then the IM product that comes with that platform would probably be a better suit.
At Fingent, we use Hangouts Chat for all the internal communication, standups, meetings and chat. It does the job perfectly well. we recently switched to Google Hangouts Chat from Hangouts. Hangouts was actually buggy and had frequent crashes but the new chat is stable. Most of the time I use Google Hangouts Chat on my iPhone.
Pros
Audio calls
Chat
Rooms
Video call
Meetings
Cons
When I use the iPhone app, my phone gets overheated
Performance optimization
Bring some fun AR filters to video calls

We use Google Hangouts company-wide. It is perfect for our mobile environment and the need for quick responses in urgent situations. Our technologists and marketing team in the field are able to easily reach out to our corporate office for quick questions and save everyone a phone call. It is also very helpful to our dispatch/customer service team to communicate efficiently when some of the team is in-office, while others work from home.
Pros
It is user-friendly.
Helps encourage multi-tasking in a fast-pace environment.
Is easily accessible from Gmail or my desktop.
Cons
Reminder notifications would be very helpful to ensure nothing is missed.
Some sort of alert or chime to get another user's attention.
Enables/encourages an increase in workplace gossip.
Likelihood to Recommend
I would highly recommend Google hangouts. It is extremely helpful in increasing communication, especially in an environment like the one we have here. We are a mobile workplace, with a lot of employees that work from home or in the field, and Google Hangouts helps connect everyone. It is the easiest way for people to quickly get answers or to make others aware of breaks, etc. As someone who hates talking on the phone, Google Hangouts is my preferred method of communication.
