Easy to use and priced right.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I've been using FCPX since 2015, which has increased my video output speed. Once you assign the keyboard shortcuts, someone can edit quickly within the app. Whether it's doing overlays with voiceover, simple cuts, or more complex masking, FCPX can do it. It's simple to learn and easy to use and a powerhouse with the new Apple Silicon processors. Plus, it's a one-time cost—no recurring payments for features you might not use. I considered switching and trying Adobe PP, but the learning curve was steep, and I was not too fond of recurring billing. I also tried DaVinci Resolve but preferred editing with FCPX since I can quickly pump out a video.

Pros

  • Adding titles is easy.
  • Overlays and voiceovers.
  • Detach audio for L and J cuts.
  • Simple effects using waypoints and movements.

Cons

  • Motion is a seperate application that ties in with FCPX but it's difficult to learn and use.
  • The first frame dictates the resolution and frame rate for the rest of the video so use the highest res video you have to get started.

Likelihood to Recommend

It is a one-time cost, great for aspiring video creators, and has a low barrier to entry to get started financially. There are lots of tutorials and plug-ins available online. Whether you are creating short or long-form content, FCPX is easy to use. Keep an eye on your library files since they can grow large and take up a lot of space on the hard drive.

Final Cut Pro: Effective, affordable and extremely powerful tool for Video Edint

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Final Cut Pro has been a core software for my company for years. For video editing, it can not be beat. The power and features of Final Cut Pro is unapparelled in the market. Even with all of the flexibility, it is easy to use. I use Final Cut Pro for professional video editing for my clients. When they need something special and impactful, they call me to produce it. Often this is when the basic videos available fall short of producing what is needed.

Pros

  • Masking and managing Multiple layers
  • Automated featured: Audio analysis, matching audio clips, more
  • Library and file organization

Cons

  • Ease of setting defaults and grouping commonly used effects.

Likelihood to Recommend

If you need to create highly professional video with effects, transitions, masks and overlays, FCP is for you. If you want your videos to stand out from the rest of the noise out there, FCP if for you. Creating full length films or long form communications videos is the sweet spot with FCP. It has all of the power and flexibility you could ever need.

If you are looking for a simple editor to clip videos from your phone, there are better options. Those options will be simple and will also be pretty limited.

Final Cut Pro X - A must have for the creative professional

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Final Cut Pro X is used in my photography business to edit and produce videos for business and wedding clients. It is by far the best video editing software available, and the features and interface are very intuitive and helpful. I am the sole employee of my business, so time efficiency really matters to me and Final Cut helps immensely with anything video related.

Pros

  • Autosave is a lifesaver!
  • Simple, intuitive user interface makes it easy for even beginners to create beautiful videos
  • Fast technology - optimization helps with rendering and load times to help keep the project moving along

Cons

  • Expensive
  • Dated presets (fonts, etc.)

Likelihood to Recommend

Great for professionals and amateurs alike. If you've never used editing software before, there will be a bit of a steep learning curve, and Final Cut [Pro X] doesn't really have a "tutorial mode" so you're kind of on your own. But if you are experienced, it definitely presents the best user layout, autosave features, and customization options of any other video editing software out there.

Final Cut Pro X is one of the best video editing applications for the Mac.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Final Cut Pro [X] is our primary video editing program. We use it to edit videos used in various marketing initiatives. We use it to edit rough cuts of videos, create alternate cuts of videos currently in use and also use it to create training videos combining screen capture and live video content. Basically we use it to handle all our video editing needs

Pros

  • Easy to use
  • Performs well in a Mac environment
  • Exports to all necessary video format
  • Integrates well with other mac programs

Cons

  • Integrations into the Adobe suite would be helpful
  • Improved editing performance for higher res video files

Likelihood to Recommend

Final Cut Pro X is the best option for video editor in a mac environment. It's stable, fast and easy to use. It provides all the professional editing tools that competitors like Premier and Davinci Resolve provide but optimized for a mac environment. The app just works and provides a fast workflow for video editing.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Admittedly it was a leap for us to move from Final Cut 7 to X. The curve wasn't as steep as we all feared but there was some getting used to. Now it is used every day. There is a fountain of vendors for plugins. I often had to step out to do some animation in after effects, but a great deal can be done in Final Cut. Super easy. I Love it. We use it for Youtube and other social media and to be able to post it directly and or in the flavor that a channel wants is great. If you have the RAM (32gigs on my old 2011 is boatloads faster than my other 2019 mac. with 8gigs). I think for the community support, available plugins and how easy it is to use - oh and the price - AWESOME.

Pros

  • Composing a timeline to tell a story.
  • Workflow.
  • Ease of use.

Cons

  • In some respects, the layout was better in the previous version. Or maybe I got used to that.
  • Sometimes files get moved around and that would break the reference links. It would be great if Final Cut could send out a search party on its own to look for the missing files.

Likelihood to Recommend

I always recommend Final Cut Pro to people. It's great for making videos for various aspects.

Great video editor, easy to use and understand!

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Final Cut Pro is a video editor software that can edit any type of video, the only other thing you need is your creative instinct. We use it mainly for social media promotions editing, this can include products or service and it really helps because we avoid sending it to a studio or somewhere more expensive.

Pros

  • Comes with state of the art transitions which are easy to use and include in your project.
  • It has a great light and color correction toolbar.
  • You can edit up to 4K videos, it all depends on how fast your Mac is.
  • You will have a large number of plugins and add-ons.

Cons

  • It lags when a project is very extensive (20 min or more of 4K).
  • Layout is still outdated, it would work well with a new layout that could give a better comprehension of the features.
  • The timeline can be a little uncomfortable if it has different sources (several video and audio entries).

Likelihood to Recommend

Final Cut Pro is perfect for video editing. I think that is where it stands out. What I wouldn't recommend to use Final Cut Pro for is photo editing, since this software does not come with the adequate features for a photo editor. Overall Final Cut Pro is a great software that gives a lot for the value.
