Likelihood to Recommend
Egnyte is well suited for sharing large files with colleagues. I especially like the time saved with uploading photos from my phone to my company network. Egnyte's desk top sync is great when multiple people can access files.

Egnyte is basically a file exchange platform that is used by our organization at a wide range due to its quality and its features. We are required to exchange our files with clients so it's the best platform where we can exchange our documents. Egnyte is a secure platform and we need security because we share a lot of sensitive documents.
Pros
The interface of Egnyte is very easy and user-friendly anyone can use Egnyte without any problem.
Security of Egnyte is very high it creates a security code or password to open the particular file
File exchanging platform is too good.
Always gives a good updates and user friendly updates.
Cons
Connectivity with internet is slow as per my experience
Shows some undefined error sometime but it's very rare
It's takes little bit more time to upload files.
Likelihood to Recommend
Egnyte is basically used where the company needs to exchange the files or documents with the clients so it's suits the best when we need to share something with others. Sometimes it's taking more time to upload the particular files which is very irritating so these are the scenarios where Egnyte is less appropriate.
Our whole organization is now using Egnyte, I've been assisting users ever since its implementation into our environment. It does solve a lot of the external access required by third parties and allows our internal access to be convenient from multiple locations.
Pros
Sharing files externally with passwords, link expiration and granular control of permissions
File syncing across end-user devices using a client installed onto the computer for seamless integration for end-users as if they had mapped a drive directly to their machine
Implements 2FA for secure access
Cons
Applying mass permissions to multiple folders is non-existent. If you have 15 folders to manage, you have to individually assign the 15 folders permissions to have specific rights (to not be able to delete the folder and to be able to create subfolders)
File and folder restoration is only done in increments of 80 items-- per page. That can be 78 files and 2 folders, but those folders don't contain the original items that originally existed within it. Restoring a folder with more than 1000 items is absolutely drudging.
There isn't an ability to keep files stored on end-user devices as of yet. OS level applications often times have issues when needing to address [the] entire contents of folders. [A] prime example is for file compression.
There isn't an easy way to back up the information from an end user's machine or transfer contents to a local hard drive. Cloud base solutions are available though.

If you're simply sharing and syncing across devices and don't care about granular security permissions, this is an easy win.
If you're needing more control over the ability to restrict users from deleting folders, sharing folders, and allowing only certain groups to be able to view a folder, this can work but will ultimately give you arthritis as you'll end up having to perform a multitude of clicks for a task that should be able to be done in a fraction of the action. Have a folder template that allows for the first two levels of folders to be view only and the third level allowing file/folder creation and deletion? Have fun setting each of the third level folder's permissions-- they should give out free wrist braces.
When discussed with their engineers about this function, a suggested $28,000 custom script was suggested. I don't believe them when they say that they haven't heard of other customers wishing to assign rights to multiple folders-- Something any sort of real admin would require. It simply isn't important to them, which is fine. The current ability
We use Egnyte to store large construction files that we are able to share and collaborate on within our system. We also take advantage of the feature to selectively share individual files without having to separately upload to a cloud based share site. This eliminates the need for additional storage on our server and gives our personnel easy access to files at any location with Internet access.
Pros
Fast file access and retrieval
Quick uploads and downloads
Individual file sharing with users outside of our organization
Cons
We had one problem with file syncing that lost several files. Tech support could not retrieve them. This happened early in our usage and only one time.
We had an issue with Sync at one point, but that was resolved.

File sharing ability is better than most cloud based clients we have tried with better than average security.
We use Egnyte across the board in every section of our company. We started using it because we were hit with a Crypto-virus almost 2 years ago. With Egnyte, if a computer crashes, everything is saved on Egnyte in the cloud. So, not only does it give us the ability to have things saved in situations like this. But, files are also available anywhere with internet access.
Pros
Egnyte gives multiple access points to your files. There is software for local NAS devices. And there is WebDAV access to the cloud as well.
Egnyte is permissions based. So users can be given access to certain folders, but be only given access to select files within that folder. It can be as complicated or simple as you want.
Egnyte gives you the option to pay specifically for Crypto-virus coverage. If your files were ever infected, they guarantee a backup.
Cons
There are some points within the web UI that randomly don't function properly. Users can give links to folders and files in the web UI. Sometimes the links randomly expire when they shouldn't.
Sometimes tech support is not sure why things happen. I've had an open case that is currently 4 weeks old. They just cannot figure out the issue. Luckily it doesn't stop us from working.

Egnyte is really suited for companies that have a large file structure with lots of files. This is a great option, rather than housing your own server. A smaller company that doesn't have much a file structure might find use with Egnyte, but it might not be cost effective. It's not the cheapest product, but there are some great features and are worth it.
Egnyte was used to store and share files within our company as well as third parties. I liked that it was easy to share a single document or an entire folder with one link. This made sharing large files such as project manuals or drawings easy. My company stopped using Egnyte in December of 2013.
Pros
Easy to share files
Easy to navigate
Easy to upload or move files within the site
Cons
When making a change to a document on Egnyte, you would also have to send out an updated version of the link.
Likelihood to Recommend
If a colleague asked, I would not recommend Egnyte. There are other options available that are more cost effective and efficient.
