Easy to use and cost effective cloud service provider for application developers and startups

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

In my organization, DigitalOcean is primarily used to create droplets and databases. DigitalOcean is an excellent choice for early startups as they can deploy their infrastructure at lower cost compared to the relatively bigger cloud providers. We have also integrated our SaaS application as a DigitalOcean marketplace Add-On. This helps our application business by serving as a channel for acquiring new customers.

Pros

  • Cost effective
  • Easy to use
  • Easy to integrate
  • Great technical support

Cons

  • Fine grained role based access control
  • AI chatbot
  • Ability to easily generate and get spaces credentials like personal access token using an OAuth application so as to build easy to use applications for our end users

Return on Investment

  • Reduced cost
  • Increased revenue through marketplace integration
  • Increased trust on our application as we are listed on the marketplace

Just perfect Very happy

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use DigitalOcean since at least 10 years for our needs of servers and web servers, it's definitely very handy and helpful, as it is possible just to have a server for few minutes and delete it, or test the various type of installations (OS), capacity or hard disk (SSD). It's very flexible and extremly competitive at the level of the prices compared with other datacenter... and one of the must is that you can select the datacenter you prefer geogrphically, choosing which country you prefer and that has the best bandwith to your customers.

Pros

  • Pricing
  • Geographical Datacenter
  • Various OS available
  • Possibility to setup a server in seconds and also remove it as quickly.

Cons

  • I really find out that the service is perfect
  • keeping some common older OS could be helpful for specific installation
  • VoIP PABX such as Trixbox/Asterisk could be good

Return on Investment

  • Very quick and flexible
  • Prices are extremly attractable
  • Geographical zones are just what we needed

Usability

DigitalOcean is a good value and flexible

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use DigitalOcean as a LAMP stack server for my web hosting. I host a few PHP-based websites, along with a WordPress blog install and a few Drupal website installs. I also use it as a place to host random one-off projects that need a back-end language or a database. My server currently does not get an excessive amount of traffic, but the Drupal installs especially use a fair amount of server resources.

Pros

  • Hosting flexibility
  • Server stability
  • Good uptime
  • Good pricing

Cons

  • Setting usage limits to prevent large bills
  • Support for beginners
  • ARM-based server options

Return on Investment

  • Low pricing, saving about 50% of my previous hosting costs
  • Good uptime
  • Easy to get going

Infrastructure made it simple.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use DigitalOcean to host client websites, run marketing tools, and scale our services efficiently. Also, Droplets allows me to deploy reliable servers quickly, and managed databases help organize and store all of our campaign data. I recently started using Spaces to store media assets and backups of all the media generated for our clients. With DigitalOcean’s straightforward pricing, I can easily manage costs while delivering high-quality digital solutions to our clients.

Pros

  • We are storing all media assets for our clients.
  • Manage databases to generate reports and statistics for our campaigns.
  • Really simple to deploy Droplets.

Cons

  • It's a little bit better control panel, but maybe I'm just picky.
  • There are more options on GPU droplets, maybe AMD ones.
  • Better backup prices.

Return on Investment

  • DigitalOcean’s straightforward pricing has helped me manage infrastructure costs effectively.
  • The ease of spinning up servers and launching websites has reduced development time, and that makes our clients happy.
  • Scalability allows me to quickly expand services and handle more clients without significant additional investment.

DigitalOcean: move forward fast

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are building a MVP of a mobile application for personal trainers. We are using DigitalOcean Droplets as a runtime environment for our API. We also use Spaces buckets to store and serve via CDN user provided data.

Pros

  • Ease of use and ease of configuration
  • Competitive pricing
  • Good documentation and knowledge base

Cons

  • Container registry could have a larger free tier (500mb is almost nothing)
  • We lack Secrets Manager service

Return on Investment

  • We were able to deploy first version within a single work day
