So, I work for an investment bank, which has been our client for the last couple of years in the support role, and we use db2 extensively in our work. Some of the major highlights that I noticed with this tool are its reliability, ease of use, and the security it provides. We query a large set of data from the past several years for the business to make the decisions for the applications, and mostly, it just takes a minute or so to give us the data we require. This is very much suitable when used for a large set of data.

This is a perfect application when there is a large data set. Querying the data takes minimal time, which can save a reasonable amount of time, mainly when catering to a more extensive set of users. Having no downtime makes this a reliable and user-friendly application.
We have explored the usage of Db2 as a relational database for hosting our Financial data, as it well integrates with receiving CSV files, which most of the Financial department rely on. Db2 was considered as the analysts are more comfortable with using standard SQL and in particular Db2 Big SQL, which facilitate their day-to-day queries. On top of that, it was also interesting exploring it for AI applications, as they would require more scalability capabilities.

It is best suited for scenarios where security cannot be compromised (such as, financial systems). This is something that Db2 caters for and why it was considered in our use case. Its recoverability capabilities are also important to note, again due to some systems requiring availability 24/7. In general though, it is an Enterprise solution, meaning that the licensing cost can be hard to shoulder for smaller companies, which coupled with the lack of trained engineers on it, make it less attractive to more mainstream solutions
IBM's Db2 is the most low latency enterprises database which supports for faster realtime as well as supporting low latency transactions equipped with full availability. Our use case for in order to use Db2 is to store all our banking related datas ( user data, bank/ATM branches data, Transaction purpose ), Assets inventory and some data of our own datalake which helds massive amount of data for showcasing analysis for various use cases.

Products which are at very high scale in Storage,traffic patterns, Live analysis, realtime streaming, Transactional workload. IBM's Db2 is a jack of all these above mentioned trades. IBM's Db2 is not suitable the very small scale workload as it is bit expensive.
It can be used in both ways with or without relational concepts which helped with the current requirement of our business module where we need to be able to store data of both nature, structured and unstructured for us to help minimize the data loss which is incredibly sensitive and important for the business growth and fulfilling product needs.

Online backups need to be taken only in an offline environment which is quite troublesome because you don't always have the option to go offline.
Extensibility for buffer pool size in case of large data sets sometimes some tables could need more size for storing which is not possible at the moment.
Could be a lot more handy if they could introduce temporal tables like the ones in ms SQL.

I have worked directly with IBM DB2 since the 1980s to the current state of my responsibilities. Initially, working with DB2, it was hosted on a 3090 Mainframe Processor and then on a MF Z/OS platform. As in the past to present, we use DB2 for large transactional applications, which oftentimes are very large tablespaces that can accommodate millions upon millions of rows of data. Oftentimes, we find that using an application program such as Cobol defeats the purpose when the application begins to grow by leaps and bounds; this is where DB2 fits the bill by providing efficiency and stability. We have also been using DB2 on Cloud for a while now. Seamless and transparent and eliminates various onsite interactions from a processor standpoint. Scales out as needed.

Its best suited where users want to create and predict with high-performance machine learning models inside data warehouse. The best feature is it can be integrated with the IBM AI: Watson for features and functionality. In helps the users perform real-time analytics and generate an instant report. However, prefetching and modelling of the data needs to be done at users end or in the different Db2 which can then be integrated again back here.
IBM offers a good variety of database choices like DB2, MongoDB, Redis, etc. If you want some database to use quickly but don't want to spend time on setting things up from scratch and don't want to spend efforts on daily operations, IBM Cloud Databases would be a good choice.
In our experience, some database service offers more than one URL, so our application needs to handle the failover.
