Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We utilize these devices in a couple of aspects.
1. They are mobile devices to give us internet access to create or "duplicate" our Dispatch center at basically any location. Provides phone and Internet for access to software applications utilized for EMS dispatch.
2. Mobile internet devices for access in emergency service vehicles.

Pros

Provide Internet Access.
Ability to Control and configure remotely.
Dependable cellular coverage and access.

Cons

Could be more cost effective.
I actually like most of what they have for configuration remotely and templates.
UI and finding some settings online, could be a but more user friendly.

Provide internet and local network in vehicle.
Reliability.
Remote configuration and access.

Provides necessary 24 / 7 access needed for our industry.
IT staff spends much less time, troubleshooting for fixing issues.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Needed connectivity for a construction crew trailer office on our property during a rebuild of a tornado-damaged section of our campus. The CradlePoints worked awesomely!!

Pros

Provide connections for internet via cellular
Manage the traffic well
Gives you insight to the usage and traffic patterns

Cons

The only complaint has to do with the cellular providers not the device

Provide the connection for the construction office
No wires across the construction site
No worries about losing the connection because cellular uptime

Pros

Ease of setup. After the SIM card is installed, you can have the device up in a matter of minutes.
Central management using NetCloud.
You get the bang for your buck.

Cons

I have nothing negative to say about the Cradlepoint solution.

As far as the device itself, I have no complaints. There are issues at times with actual cellular coverage, but that falls on the responsibility of the carrier. The Cradlepoint functions as designed.

Our organization is an MSP that has partnered with a large healthcare provider to stand up a mobile medical unit to assist patients all over the country. We purchased a few of the cradle point devices to install in the units with a full network cabinet, in addition, to building out a full HIPAA secured mobile workstation.

Pros

Better than other solutions for integration with full network cabinet.
Better build quality that others.
External antenna connector.

Cons

Throughput was not great compared to similar solutions with same sim cards.
Paid management portal.
Overly complicated setup mainly due to the paid management portal.

Rugged build quality.
Failover capability.
External antenna.

For the price I don't think it effectively "wow'd" the client.
Throughput caused our network service to not be fully utilized.

Pros

The device is a nice compact unit, with great reception in all areas of Chicago.
Set up and configuration was very easy.
The Netcloud Management portal service is a must! It allows me to manage all of our Cradelpoint from a management console.

Cons

My only complaint is that when we got the device, it was not really clear what gateway address we needed to use. It took some time to figure this out initially, but after getting in touch with Cradlepoint support, we had what we needed to fully deploy all locations.
Dual power supply and network ports would be nice so that we can tie into redundancy systems.

Return on Investment

We needed a second internet carrier, and this device provided it without the heavy cost. You pay a small monthly fee, and whatever data you use. On average, this solution costs us $750.00 per year, compared to the monthly cost of a carrier like Comcast which ranges from $250-350 per month, which could add up to $4,200 per year for standby that may never get used.
Turnaround time for deployment was a couple of hours.
Net cloud management portal gives you centralized access to all of your devices for managing.
The additional network LAN port is available so that you can add the device to your network monitor, such as solar winds.
