TrustRadius Insights for Control-M are summaries of user sentiment data from TrustRadius reviews and, when necessary, third party data sources.
Pros
Centralized Interface Efficiency: Users have praised Control-M for simplifying application management through a centralized interface, ensuring all batch processes are monitored and managed effectively. This feature enhances visibility and streamlines operations by preventing tasks from being overlooked or delayed.
Operational Paradigm Shift: Reviewers have highlighted the shift from reactive to proactive management enabled by the BIM component within Control-M, leading to more efficient handling of production failures. This transition allows teams to address issues before they escalate, improving overall productivity and reducing downtime.
Enhanced Job Mesh Development: Customers appreciate that Control-M/Change Manager has significantly reduced development cycles, from requirements gathering to production testing, by monetizing the development of job meshes. This optimization not only speeds up the process but also increases accuracy and consistency in job execution.
I use Control-M on-site; the product is incredible, but the quality of support has dropped significantly. When support was exclusively Brazilian, it was excellent and specialized. Now, we see that some people have no experience with the tool; they only consult KA, which we also do. I often mention a problem in the ticket that KA didn't solve, and they still send it as a solution. They seem to not understand how Control-M works in a critical environment.
Pros
EM is greater, practical and confiable
Server robust
Agent stable
Cons
I recently opened a case where SAP CM was monitoring child jobs. In version 9.0.21, this doesn't happen. The BMC developer said this was a bug in version 9.0.01, which wasn't actually monitored, but it worked. When child jobs finished, control-m would terminate OK. If it were possible to implement this, it would be great and a differentiator, since not even SAP has this functionality natively. The only tool that currently does this practically without the need to order child jobs is CA Workload.

Every i want do i can when Control-M. I participate a lot pocs with other tools but control-M is better.
I use Control-M for workload process in financial sector. We have a lot of heterogeneous systems that we connected together ( OS,zOS, etc.)We use also ctm for file transfer´s via MFT.I'm excited to see what the BMC HELIX will be like in the future.I hope the operation and user-friendliness will remain the same.
Pros
Filetransfer
Compatibility
Ease of use
Cons
Reporting Tools
Customizability
Mass update
Likelihood to Recommend
It is well suited for Filetransfer´s , but perhaps less for triky tasks.

RMT does Installations, training, Migrations and upgrades. We Optimize clients schedules and show new techniques and features that Control-M implements based on new fix packs and/or versions.
Pros
Batch processing
Delivery of on-time schedules
Real time vision and option to fix and rerun applications.
Cons
Find and update in the Web

I have used the product for over 20+ years. It is the best.
Picture this: data pipeline drops at 2am. Its supposed to grab logs, transform them, update a warehouse and send an alert. Now, if anything in that chain fails, someone is waking up cranky. But Control-M, It tracks every step, check conditions, retries intelligently, and if something goes, it tells us where and why. It basically keeps the wheels turning behind the scenes without us needing a million scripts duct-taped together
Pros
The way it handles dependencies wow. You can chain jobs across different systems like yore DJing in a data center
The calendar functionality, a chefs kiss. handles holidays time zones, exceptions...
The self service portal, how it lets non techie teams trigger and monitor their own jobs blowing something up or bothering IT every 5 minutes.
Cons
Control-M isn't exactly light weight. You don't casually "try it out". Its a commitment
If you aren't use to Control-M's way of thinking(folders, jobs, SMART tables

We've got scripts running on Linux, SQL jobs on window, cloud functions on AWs and god-knows what hiding in our prem stack and Control-M pulls it all together. Its perfect for multiplatform environments where job dependencies, timing and reliability are mission critical. Less ideal for small teams just running a few cron jobs, its just too powerful for that.
We have been using Control-M for decades already and it continues to be one of the best technologies for workload automation and orchestration. It suits customers from many industries and vendor also continuously develops the tool and introduces functionalities and features. Documentation is usually on good level and new features mostly also available through standard API, which vendor calls Automation API.
Pros
Easy to use
Automation API
Integrations to various business applications
Cons
Mail sensor would be a nice add-on
For-each workflows are missing
More flexibility in variables would be good
Bring workbench back to docker hub

I see Control-M is one of the best technologies in Workload Automation / Service Orchestration and Automation Platforms space at the moment. Tool is not perfect and it can be missing a few features present in competing tools, but overall Control-M is a strong product with respectable track record. Highly recommended.

Use of Control-M programs is one of the several ways which we used to raise our company's efficiency and output. As with this approach, it is able to undertake thorough job monitoring across numerous apps and it also has batch customization filters showing the current work situation to users and alerting them to any issues that may develop.
Pros
it is able to automate several tasks at once
automatically monitors and reports if any issue arises
makes sure that other activities aren't disturbed and can run smoothly
Cons
even after all the automation, working with several servers can still be very difficult
automating batching through Control-M is quite challenging and slow
takes quite sometime if you load several projects at once
Likelihood to Recommend
Control-M allows us to automate server cleaning tasks and review work history which in turn helps us to lower the manpower required and increase efficiency. Also the platform's several reporting choices helps us to simplify the internal and external audit processes.
We use it to run application workflows... from housekeeping to daily processes that are required to manage data with in the application. Daily workflows includes things like end-of-day processing, data extracts to downstream applications, etc. Housekeeping includes things like backups, daily maintenance, automatic start-stop of application that requires a sequence of steps to stop/start it, cleanups, etc.
Pros
Orchestrate complex workflows
File Transfers using MFT
The management of Control-M platform, is done well by Control-M, things like an overview of status of all components, agent upgrades via CCM/API, and the API is very useful for all its functionality.
Site Standards are very useful in making the environment more robust and easier to manage
Cons
Managing Control-M/Servers, especially when you have multiple CTM/Servers can be improved. Example, like you can shutdown EM on all EM hosts from one command, it will be helpful if you can do the same to all your Control-M/Servers.
Complex scheduling using Confirmation Calendars is difficult to understand and use
Add more API functionality, for example, managing all EM and CTM/Server System Parameters via API would be useful
Likelihood to Recommend
It's well suited at scheduling complex workflows made up of command, scripts, or out-of-the-box integrations. As things like Ansible are becoming more common in DevOps Pipelines, Control-M can schedule these but it would be good to have an internal Control-M scripting language so companies can use Control-M instead of Ansible/Terraform.
