we use Control-M for comprehensive batch scheduling and monitoring capabilities, we have used this tool to schedule multiple jobs of all PROD application groups. Use case: it detects arrival of files from various clients, processing them quickly to meet SLA and in this way it avoids penalty for late delivery and file processing and delivery to other clients which is time critical.

Pros

Enhanced Control-M Automation API continues to evolve to give customers all the control and ownership they need to accelerate application delivery.
Control-M self service is what customer need to obtain visibility, control in a context they can easily understand.
Control-M workload change manager

Cons

A proper integration method that clearly defines the workflow.
There should be an automation system for developers to set it up more easily and quickly.
Upgrading Control-M process is very long, there are numerous boxes to tick and things to check to ensure everything is in order before upgrade happens.

BMC Control-M is used as a job scheduler in our organisation.
All the batch processing, EOD transactions , database backups and other critical processing items are scheduled on this tool.Various features such as API, Control-M for WEB and ControlM modules for various technologies make it easier to integrate and use.

Being one of the biggest financial institute, BMC Control-M is used to run banks books and ledgers, regulatory reports. Control-M handles thousands of jobs on both distributed and Mainframe platform without any issues.

Run Batches on Unix/Windows and Mainframe servers
Handles dependencies between multiple application batches
Provide alert and API capabilities which helps to monitor, escalate and resolve batch related issues in time

Cons

With Control-M WEB, there is lot of instability
Slowness in Control-M WEB
Control-M REST API Syntax need to explain in details

I will always recommend Control-M due to huge capacity of handle number of jobs. Things you can do with Control-M API, Capabilities to integrate tool with with orchestration tools like Osmosys/BigPanda/SNOW etc

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Control-M runs all of our product, sales and distribution for all of North America. We typically run over 2,500 to 3,000 tasks per day. This keeps the business running accurately and efficiently. Without the use of Control-M's automation our IT Department would be tasked with executing multiple scripts/tasks all day and night. That would NOT be efficient!

well suited : to automate and manage multiple interdependent batch processes across various systems, including database updates, data transfers, and report generation. Control-M can ensure that jobs are ordered and executed in the right order as the dependencies are met.

Control-M may not working well yet with some of the widely used tools like Snowflake, MuleSoft etc. Also, it may not be great for small organizations with tight budgets

We automate the execution of jobs that run processes and push/pull files to/from external sources. Some jobs are scheduled to run at a specific time, others are triggered by a file arriving/being created. The jobs are configured to generate alerts if unsuccessful, and sometimes just send a message to confirm they are done.

Pros

Define dependencies between jobs
Good visual overview of active/scheduled jobs
Very easy to define simple jobs via the U.I.
Connections to FTP sites are securely stored centrally
Jobs can be triggered based on the appearance or disappearance of a file, or the appearance of a row in a database table.
Jobs can be set to re-run x times on failure, great for dealing with temp connection issues.

Cons

Would really like for a job's schedule able to be defined to start at different times on different days, e.g. M-F 9 am, S & S 11 am.

Likelihood to Recommend

Control-M is excellent for automating processes and and defining actions to take as a result of the job result. It works well across multiple servers, including those in Azure. Jobs can be defined and monitored by people who do not have deep technical expertise.

I can't think of a scenario that Control-M would not handle well.

Control-m is not only our planner; that is how we started working with it at Bankinter. It has become the orchestrator of both on-premise jobs and jobs in the different clouds (Azure, Oracle, Google).

Pros

Control-M is used to manage and automate critical processes at Bankinter.
In addition, configurations and changes are carried out in the database and Control-M servers to guarantee their correct functioning.
Control-M helps automate and orchestrate complex application and data workflows across different platforms and environments.

Cons

How to manage user profiles/roles.
Profiles migration process.
Number of characters in profile names.
Airflow job definition.
