Conga Grid is a productivity tool within Salesforce that allows users to view, sort, and manage data batches from a single screen. It helps users to find and manage the information and insights needed with fewer clicks and less screen switching.

Conga Grid helps its users to save time, improve data quality, get a clear view into needed data, and create a more productive workplace in Salesforce to drive growth across the organization.

Using its Quick Start Grids, which are pre-built for use cases (Sales, Sales Executive, Case Management, Salesforce Admin), the user can get up and running within minutes.

Conga Grid keeps users working in Salesforce instead of their desktop

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We recently purchased Conga Grid and have begun exploring the possibilities of increasing workflow efficiencies. For example, when we receive payments from Claims Co Op Billing, we can easily mark multiple payments as received in the Grid view instead of clicking around from layout to layout. Huge time saver.

Pros

  • If you like Excel, and you likely do, then you will appreciate what Grid gives users access to in terms of editing
  • Bulk exports and imports with IDs for easy mass updates
  • Formatting options that users are already used to from using Excel are available and can personalize workflows

Cons

  • I worry that Conga Grid my become deprecated due to Salesforce
  • The response can be slow sometimes (still quicker than switching layouts, though)
  • You have to invest the time to set up the grids for your users to really get in and use Grid and see the benefits

Return on Investment

  • we expect to get a 6x return on investment with time savings and efficiencies
  • we are looking into using Grid to help us execute tailored mass emais (follow ups for payment needed, payment received, etc)
  • We need our users to stop working and tracking data outside of Salesforce- Grid will help us greatly

Conga Grid rocks

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Conga Grid for complex business cases for inline editing for both my end user and myself within Salesforce. I use them for audits, checking data accuracy and aligning fields within my tool. Using grids has cut down the time it takes me for these activities by at least if not ore than half. It’s a wonderful tool which is a great add to native tools.

Pros

  • Pulls data from multiple objects to one view
  • Makes it so easy to mass fill/edit data records
  • Makes it so easy for auditing or comparing fields in the tool

Cons

  • Adjusting the carrot to make it easier to use
  • Make it easier to save. It sometimes takes awhile or not everything saves at once.
  • Make the grid data exportable.

Return on Investment

  • Better data accuracy
  • Better cross sell picture
  • Better prioritizations

Usability

Excellent value and great functionality

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Conga Grid for our quality control process to ensure we have accurate meta data information on our agreement records. We do periodic updates to correct issues identified in the manual drafting process

Pros

  • Mass updates to including chatter notes
  • User specific views that limits their ability to change key fields
  • Ability to create views with fields from different objects to view and edit

Cons

  • Mass record creation
  • Easier way to create a view
  • Ability to upload files into records

Return on Investment

  • Saved countless hours of manual effort to update records one by one

Usability

Conga Grid is OK

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Generally trying to keep users out of excel/sheets and using Salesforce data directly. Users are able to make targeted mass updates in Salesforce without admin help.

Pros

  • Data updates
  • Filtering and grouping data

Cons

  • Configuration is difficult
  • Being able to use already-built salesforce reports to start a template
  • Visualforce is outdated
  • Interface is clunky

Return on Investment

  • Time savings on data entry
  • Data accuracy is improving

Usability

CongaGrid: Excel-like Superpowers within Salesforce

Pros

  • A specific strength of Conga is the ability to easily produce cross-object displays where you can take information like open Opportunities and layer on information such as Activities, Orders, Opportunity Products with all related information being accessible when individual lines are selected. The reading pane functionality is a huge timesaver for reps working lists of records.
  • Another strength is Conga's ability to allow mass edit/update - for example, you can have a list of leads assigned to you, check the ones you met at a conference, and update a field on their record or assign a task or do an email send right from the list. At the same time, you can select other records, and do the mass update or mass create of tasks that are relevant for them.

Cons

  • While CongaGrid has boolean search functionality, it can sometimes be challenging to leverage "Or" statements in the search. We can specify "show opportunities closed this week where orders exist where rep finalized date = this year, and sales credit is > $0." But trying to specify "show me opportunities were either (orders exist where rep finalized date = this year and Opportunities closed this year) or (opportunity is a partner opportunity and the opportunity closed on January 1st) can be challenging for a basic user to execute.
  • There are currently no metrics reports to identify views not being used. This can lead to data hygiene issues, ultimately causing confusion when multiple views with similar or the same name have been created.

Return on Investment

  • We have been able to automate a number of Excel driven processes to give reps back an average of 2 hours/rep/week.
  • We have been able to shift Sales Operations data hygiene processes from exports/imports using data loader and Excel or SQL to just-in-time processing using CongaGrid.
