Best Tool for Rank Tracking and much more

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

In our organization, Conductor is being used to track the rankings and market share of our portals. Also, the Deep Crawl feature of Conductor also helps us to do the technical audit. Apart from this, it also helps us to do the page-level audit as we need to measure page-level performance. One of the best parts of this tool is its easy reporting that helps us to clearly understand the performance in one go.

Pros

  • Keywords Tracking
  • Deep Crawl, which includes Log files analysis
  • Market Share

Cons

  • Not able to compare the ranking for more than 2 weeks.
  • For longer duration, report is not available instantly.

We have a big website, having millions of pages. We need to track the performance of pages based on keywords. Conductor helps us to track the ranking of thousands of keywords. But to track the ranking of the same keywords in different zones/countries we need to add the same keywords again which somehow consumes our keywords limit

Great Tool We're Excited to Continue Using

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We generally use it for researching SEO keywords, seeing how our targeted keywords are performing, how our competitors are using keywords, and seeing what content might be helpful to create SEO-wise in the future. We had created several different dashboards for different business lines in our organization to really home in on each.

Pros

  • Competitor Research (I love that we could add competitors and see what they're doing well)
  • Showing us where our "wins" are, but also where we could improve (most importantly)
  • Customer service and reps were always willing to jump on a call and help us find our way around

Cons

  • I think it's not always the most user-friendly (but like I said, your reps are helpful)
  • It was something that, during the early pandemic when cost-cutting was key, felt a bit too pricey (that said, I know you're working with us - thank you!)
  • The only other thing I would say is if you're in the platform really frequently it makes sense, but sometimes if it had been a while since I'd been in, I kind of forgot my way.

Likelihood to Recommend

I think it's a great and super helpful platform. For some quick keyword research, I think it's easy enough for anyone on our team to jump in and use it, but for more in-depth research there are a few key players who know their way around best and can pull reports, provide insights to the team, etc.

Conductor is more of a partnership than a tool.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Conductor for our university website. It is currently used by our Marketing department in order to strategize our content. Previously, our website was a free-for-all without any SEO implementation. We are working to gain a competitive advantage online by utilizing our keyword research and competitive analysis as well as maintaining our site health and ADA compliance with their site analysis. Being a team of one at the moment, Conductor's customer service and access to a team whenever needed is a lifesaver. I fought leadership for over 8 months to get approval to partner with Conductor and it was well worth the struggle!

Pros

  • Customer Service. By far what they offer is the best. I have access to a team and their calendars. So when I need to set up a meeting I know when they are available. They are easy to talk to and help me work through any problem I might be having.
  • Reports. I've seen reports by some of their competitors and quite honestly wasn't sure what I was looking at. But Conductors reports can be streamlined to fit several different audiences and I can email them out (automatically) whenever I want to whomever I want, whether they are a Conductor user or not.
  • Competitive Analysis. I've not done a lot of comparison with other vendors, but I like the convenient, straightforward way Conductor shows your competitors and how they are ranking in comparison to you. You have control over your competitors and can change them when needed.

Cons

  • Site Analysis. Conductor uses DeepCrawl for its site analysis. While this is a powerful tool that helps me know everything wrong with my website like - no titles, short descriptions, no Alt tags, etc - the amount of information can be overwhelming. Initially, I had thousands of errors I was trying to fix using DeepCrawl - it was difficult to know what I had corrected and what still needed to be corrected without doing another crawl. It would be helpful if there was a way to check off things that had been fixed as I was working through the list.
  • Conductor does a great job training. First, they introduced me to Conductor and walked me through everything, and helped me create workspaces and set up reports. Then we moved on to the site analysis with DeepCrawl. Because I had so much work to do from the site analysis it was a while before I got back into Conductor. I had forgotten much of the training by that point. But the team is helping me get back into the flow of things again. They are great like that!

Likelihood to Recommend

The only reason I wouldn't want to share this with a colleague is that they will then become a much greater competition in the market. Areas where conductor helps us as an educational institution is: we have many different segmented areas in our Website. It's great to be able to create segmented keywords (categories) and reports that I can share with the various individual departments across campus.

The most efficient tool I use every day!

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Conductor to report results to my marketing team on a daily basis. This helps us identify issues on our pages, identify competitors, identify what consumers are searching for in our line of business, and even helps establish a pattern of what will remain consistently popular, and what products may only serve a temporary purpose.

Pros

  • Conductor makes it incredibly easy for a beginner with the tool. They provide short, easy to use training courses directly from the platform. Very few other tools provide their own training, saving the company money long-term, and saving everyone in the department time.
  • Conductor makes it easy to identify what competitors are doing, what changes they are making, and track what they might do next.
  • Domain explorer provides context for what keywords people are searching for and allows me to easily add these words to content for better exposure
  • I can compare performance between multiple domains and find out which of our sites are performing well, what competitors are performing well and where they are lacking, and optimize content through search tracking.
  • I can easily put together views using workspaces that are tailored to specific parts of our marketing department. So team members don't have to wade through data that is meaningless to their position.

Cons

  • I would like to see a tab for the training courses in the main bar. This isn't easy to find at first.
  • More filters based on areas of interest/profession would be helpful
  • The ability to download information from workspaces into one report that includes graphs or export to powerpoint would be amazing.

Likelihood to Recommend

Content creators, SEO managers, and everyone in the marketing department gets use from this tool. Before Conductor I was forced to use tools from varying sources and compile data myself. Being able to integrate the tool with YouTube and Google analytics has been critical to success in my position. I am able to identify strengths, weaknesses, and that of the competitor landscape in one easy to use tool.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We're an enterprise-scale SaaS provider with a long sales cycle. It's imperative for us to get in front of decision makers at all stages of their journey, and Conductor has been a game-changer in helping us do that. We've been able to uncover unique content opportunities based on gaps in the market that we simply had no insight into previously. We have a small group of digital and content marketers who use Conductor regularly to research content ideas and track outcomes, but the insights we gather are used to inform everyone from our market intelligence team to product marketing managers to web developers, and more.

Pros

  • Competitor tracking and market share analysis help us see trends in the market and uncover content gaps and opportunities.
  • Keyword tracking, categorization, trends and ranking analysis helps us measure our success and find opportunities to improve.
  • Creating reports is quick and easy, and with scheduled delivery I've been able to spend my time analyzing data to uncover insights, instead of cleaning data in Excel.
  • The Customer Support team are rockstars. They know SEO and look for opportunities to help, keep an eye out for anomalies, and even onboard our new staff for us.

Cons

  • Backlink monitoring is pretty basic. You'll still want another tool for any real backlink analysis.
  • Bulk management of keywords, keyword categories, and content segments isn't always intuitive. I often end up in the wrong place in the settings for what I want to manage.

Likelihood to Recommend

Conductor is very well suited to a large, enterprise marketing team. We have several content marketers and product marketing managers working on various projects at any given time, and the ability for each of them to use Conductor on their own for research and tracking has helped us scale our SEO efforts effectively.

Conductor is fantastic at reporting. The reports are easy to build from any data within the platform, and can be emailed to anyone on any schedule. I used to spend hours every week in Excel collecting and cleaning data. Now I spend that time on analysis and finding great opportunities.

Years of Success with Conductor

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Conductor is being utilized by the marketing department - specifically the digital marketing team that works on the organization's website and blog. It allows us to track content performance and keyword rankings.

Pros

  • Robust, full SEO suite – performs the job of many individual SEO, one purpose SEO tools.
  • Customizable – setting up content and keyword groups gives ability to look at data in a number of different ways via dashboards.
  • Customer journey mapping capabilities.

Cons

  • Requires a significant time investment to maintain, set up tracking, keyword groups, etc.
  • Conductor’s one-off competitor keyword visibility discovery/analysis (Domain Explorer) is significantly more limited than BrightEdge’s DataCube.

Likelihood to Recommend

Conductor is well suited to track natural search visibility at the keyword and page level. It is less appropriate to analyze competitor keyword visibility.

Do You Like Building Organic Traffic?

Rating: 9 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Conductor in multiple ways. First, it acts as a bellwether for our organic search channel. We're able to rule out immediately if a performance problem is ranking related. We also are able to track ROI on our search work over time. Also, we use the tool to identify content opportunities/gaps on our site.

Pros

  • At a glance reports. Once you're set up, it's easy to keep track of your performance.
  • Preferred landing pages - keyword mapping. This is great to help align keyword strategy with a landing page experience.
  • Competitive analysis is valuable - especially at a URL level. It helps answer who's outranking me and what are they doing?
  • Segment comparison - I love being able to break down my site by segments to track performance.

Cons

  • A keyword planner as an alternative to Google Adwords would be valuable. With as much keyword data that they have, a tool with a little bit more muscle than Visibility Explorer would go a long way.
  • Sometimes I like to dig into data with Excel. Conductor has a lot of good data but I'd love to be able to download a crawl of my site with a lot of meaty information, similar to Screaming Frog, but with my PLP and keywords.

Likelihood to Recommend

The key to Conductor is you get out of it what you put into it. It requires you to add preferred landing pages, categories, and good keywords. It takes work, but once the data is organized, this is a very powerful tool. If you have a 10 page site, it might be a bit overkill for you.
