cWatch is good for advanced users; beginners steer clear.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Comodo cWatch is security software for websites. One of my websites was repeatedly being flagged for suspicious activity, and we wanted to make sure that it didn't get hacked. cWatch is supposed to continuously scan your site and server for malware.

Pros

  • on demand scanning - you can set up a scan whenever you like.

Cons

  • The server would never fully connect - I contacted support about this, and they were unable to solve the issue as well.
  • Malware warnings with no solutions - We would often get malware warnings after a scan but no meaningful way to resolve them. No solutions or steps were offered. Later we learned that you have to contact the company and have them do a clean-up, but this is not clear to the first-time user.

Most Important Features

  • malware scanning on the site itself and the server.
  • cleaning up any malware that was found.

Return on Investment

  • cWatch didn't really end up helping with our issue in the end, and it seemed like it was a waste to sign up for a year of it. At the time, there were no money-back guarantees, so we were stuck with it. It was used for scanning but didn't offer much value to us when it came down to it. We ended up canceling after the year was over.

Comodo cWatch is a valuable tool to keep your web safe!

Pros

  • Blocking malware
  • Monitoring for suspicious traffic and activity

Cons

  • How updates are managed
  • Support - timing and back and forth with question/answers

Return on Investment

  • Application uptime is key. Managing risk of downtime saves much more than the cost of this platform.
